For the yoke it says “ Continue with stockinette stitch without further increases until the yoke measures … from the marker mid-front.” I don’t understand what “marker mid-front” is. Where should I be measuring from? Thanks in advance!

Hi Megan VM: we have placed marker when we done the neck - see: "NECK:...Insert 1 marker after the first 29-31-31-31-33-33-33 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here." So this is the point for yoke to be measured from :-) Happy knitting!

Pozdrawiamy!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit through the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES: Knit through the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 80-88-88-88-96-96-96 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 29-31-31-31-33-33-33 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Knit 1; the round now begins between 2 knitted stitches from the rib. Insert 4 markers in the piece, without working the stitches and inserting the markers between 2 stitches (these 2 stitches are called the raglan-stitches and you increase for raglan on each side of these stitches). Insert marker-1 before the first stitch, count 16 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-2 before the next stitch, count 24-28-28-28-32-32-32 stitches (= front piece), Insert marker-3 before the next stitch, count 16 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-4 before the next stitch, there are 24-28-28-28-32-32-32 stitches left after the last marker (= back piece). Work stocking stitch in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches – read explanation above. Increase for raglan every 2nd round a total of 16-17-18-19-20-21-21 times = 208-224-232-240-256-264-264 stitches (= 8 increased stitches on each increase-round). The increases for the sleeves are now finished. Continue increasing for raglan on the front and back pieces every 2nd round 2-1-2-3-2-3-4 more times = 216-228-240-252-264-276-280 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch without further increases until the yoke measures 14-15-16-17-18-19 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES Knit 1 (this stitch belongs on the back piece), place the next 46-48-50-52-54-56-56 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-6-6-6-8 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 62-66-70-74-78-82-84 stitches (front piece), place the next 46-48-50-52-54-56-56 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-6-6-6-8 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 61-65-69-73-77-81-83 stitches (back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 136-144-152-160-168-176-184 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 27-30-34-38-41-43-45 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 24-28-28-32-32-36-36 stitches evenly on the first round = 160-172-180-192-200-212-220 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm, cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 30-33-37-41-45-47-49 cm from the marker mid-front and 33-36-40-44-48-50-52 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 46-48-50-52-54-56-56 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-6-6-6-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-6-6-6-8 stitches under the sleeve- the round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 2 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 3-4-4½-5½-6-7-7½ cm a total of 7-11-13-14-13-15-16 times = 40-42-44-46-48-50-52 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 20-24-28-32-34-38-42 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 4-2-4-2-4-2-4 stitches evenly on the first round = 44-44-48-48-52-52-56 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm, cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 23-27-31-35-38-42-46 cm from the division. |
