Can you use two strands of worsted weight such as cascade 220 in place of your bulky yarn? Do I need to adjust the gauge?

Hello, I'm having some trouble understanding this part: "cast on sts for foot at the end of every row from RS: 2 sts 2-2-2-2 (3-4-6-7) times and 1 st 1-2-3-3 (3-3-2-2) times = 22-24-26-28 (31-34-38-42) sts." Do I cast on the extra stitches on every row, or only on RS rows (so every second row)? Many thanks!
19.01.2023 - 10:13DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lisa, these stitches should be cast on only at the end of the rows worked from right side, ie on every second row (= on the left side of piece, seen from right side). Happy knitting!

" merci
22.01.2021 - 00:23DROPS Design answered:

Bon tricot!

The first pair I made worked perfectly, but the second came out much too wide for my adult son's skinny feet. I tried shrinking further in a bucket with boiling water but it had little effect. Can you suggest a solution? (I now wish I had modified the pattern whilst knitting it!)
04.01.2020 - 11:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary, just put it back into the washing machine for another cycle. Maybe set the temperature higher, if posible, or add some soapy solution. If everything fails you can try hand felting too. We hope you can solve the issue.

When piece measures 37-40-43-47 (50-53-55-57) cm, cast off for leg at the beg of every row from WS: 1 st 1-2-3-3 (3-3-2-2) times and 2 sts 2-2-2-2 (3-4-6-7) times = 17-18-19-21 (22-23-24-26) sts. Then switch back to dark grey and continue until piece measures 52-58-63-69 (73-75-83-86) cm. P 1 row from WS while AT THE SAME TIME, inc 2 sts evenly = 19-20-21-23 (24-25-26-28) sts. K 5 rows (1st row = RS). Loosely cast off. ASSEMBLY: Fold the slipper double WS against WS and sew tog mid back in front loop of outermost sts. Sew the same way at the front over the foot and up along leg. Turn the slipper inside out - this is now RS. FELTING: Place the slippers in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. Put the on slipper and shape it to the correct size while it is still wet. At subsequent wash, wash the slippers at regular wool programme. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
