I think the number of stitches to cast on for the back is incorrect. I am making size L and it states 69 stitches including the 2 edge stitches, but the rib pattern will not work out unless the number of stitches is increased to 71. Can you confirm please?

Dear Frances, the number of sts for back piece has been edited. Thank you, happy knitting!

Bonjour Madame Bouchbir, en taille XL, on a : 1 m lis, 3 m env, [3 m end, 3 m env], répéter de [à] 2 fois, *3 m end, 3 m env, 8 m end, 3 m env *, répéter de *à* 3 fois, répéter de [à] 3 fois, terminer par 1 m lis = soit 1 m + 3 m + (6 m x 2) + (17 m x 3) + (6 m x 3) + 1 m = 86 m. Le nombre correspond bien à celui à monter. Bon tricot !

REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 53-54-55-56-57-58 cm cast off for armhole each side at beg of every row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 0-1-2-3-3-4 times and 1 st 3-3-3-3-5-5 times = 56-58-60-62-64-66 sts. When piece measures 65-67-69-71-73-75 cm slip the middle 10 sts on a stitch holder for neck and complete each shoulder separately. Cast off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from mid front: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2-2-2-3-3-3 times = 17-18-19-19-20-21 sts. When piece measures 12 cm continue in stocking on all sts until finished measurements. When piece measures 53-54-55-56-57-58 cm cast off for armhole each side as described for front piece = 47-49-51-53-55-57 sts. When piece measures 70-72-74-76-78-80 cm cast off the middle 19-19-19-21-21-21 sts for neck and complete each shoulder (= 14-15-16-16-17-18 sts) separately. Cast off when piece measures 72-74-76-78-80-82 cm. SLEEVE: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 32-32-32-38-38-38 sts on needle size 7 mm with Vienna or Melody. Work rib, K3/P3 with 1 edge st each side. When piece measures 11 cm complete piece in stocking st. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 12-12-12-13-13-13 cm inc 1 st each side, and repeat the inc on every 5.5-4.5-3.5-3.5-3-2.5 cm a total of 7-8-10-9-10-11 times = 46-48-52-56-58-60 sts. When piece measures 48-47-46-45-44-43 cm (less for the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder) cast off for sleeve cap each side at the beg of every row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 1-2-2-3-4-5 times, then 2 sts each side until piece measures 55 cm, now cast off 3 sts 1 time each side and cast off remaining sts. Piece measures approx 57 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams inside 1 edge st. COLLAR: Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid front. Slip the last 5 sts from stitch holder at front on needle, pick up 53-53-53-59-59-59 sts round the neckline and slip the remaining 5 sts from stitch holder back on needle = a total of 63-63-63-69-69-69 sts. K 3 rows back and forth on needle from mid front. Work next row from RS as follows: 3 garter sts, * K3, P3 *, repeat from *-* on the next 54-54-54-60-60-60 sts and finish with K3 and 3 garter sts. When collar measures 7 cm inc 1 st in all P-sections = 72-72-72-79-79-79 sts. When collar measures 14 cm inc 1 st in all K-sections = 82-82-82-90-90-90 sts.
