Saludos

Thanks Lotta. That's clearer now. I find continental patterns less detailed than British and not so easy for a novice like me. I'm grateful for your help. Regards Sheila

Dear Sheila! You're knitting the front, right? On the Swedish pattern it says increase "towards the middle" ie make new stiches at the end of the rows. The markings are not for the increases but for later when making up. Hope this helps! /Lotta

Please help. I do not understand how to make these increases. How are they to be spaced? Knit stocking sts, at the same time inc mid front – insert a marking thread where the increases begin and finish – on every other row as follows: 5 sts 1 time, 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 5 times. Thank you.

Merci pour la correction. En ce qui concerne le devant droit, apres toutes les augmentation, ne devrait-on pas avoir 34-38-42-46-51 mailles au lieu de 21-22-23-24-25 mailles? Merci.

L'explication du devant droit manque de details sur la realisation de l'encolure. La hauteur de l'emmanchure ne devrait pas etre 10 cm.

Knitting tension: 17 sts x 22 rows on needle size 5 mm in stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm. Moss stitch: 1st row: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. 2nd row: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row. Decreasing tips (applies to armhole): Decrease within 4 sts from the right side. Dec as follows after 4 sts: slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso. Dec as follows before 4 sts: K2 tog. Back piece: Cast on 70-78-86-94-104 sts (inclusive of 1 edge st each side) using needle size 5 with Paris. Knit stocking sts. When piece measures 10 cm, inc 1 st each side on every 7 cm a total of 3 times = 76-84-92-100-110 sts. When piece measures 29-30-31-32-33 cm cast off 4-5-6-7-8 sts each side for armhole. Now dec – see Decreasing tips – 1 st each side on every other row a total of 4-6-7-9-12 times = 60-62-66-68-70 sts. When piece measures 46-48-50-52-54 cm cast of the middle 16-16-18-18-18 sts for neck and dec 1 st on neckline on next row = 21-22-23-24-25 sts left on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 48-50-52-54-56 cm. Right Front: Cast on 10-14-18-22-27 sts (incl 1 edge st at side) on needle size 5 with Paris. Read all of the following section before continuing: Knit stocking sts, at the same time inc mid front – insert a marking thread where the increases begin and finish – on every other row as follows: 5 sts 1 time, 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 5 times. At the same time, when piece measures 10 cm inc at side as described for back piece. After all inc there are 34-38-42-46-51 sts on needle. Armhole: When piece measures 29-30-31-32-33 cm dec for armhole as described for back piece. At the same time when piece measures 30-31-32-33-34 cm dec for neckline mid front: 1 st on every 6th row a total of 5-5-6-6-6 times. After all dec for armhole and neckline have been made there are 21-22-23-24-25 sts left on shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 48-50-52-54-56 cm. Left front piece: As right front piece, but mirrored. Sleeve: Cast on 42-44-46-48-50 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side) on needle size 4. Knit 5 cm moss stitch, then knit 1 row from right side and knit 1 row from wrong side. Change to needle size 5 and continue in stocking sts. When piece measures 6 cm inc 1 st each side on every 3-2.5-2-2-1.5 cm a total of 9-10-11-12-13 times = 60-64-68-72-76 sts. When piece measures 33-32-31-30-28 cm cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row as follows: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 2-3-4-5-7 times, and then 2 sts each side until piece measures 41cm, now dec 3 sts each side and cast off remaining sts on next row, piece measures approx 42 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew side seams within 1 edge st. Border round back and front pieces: Pick up approx 360-380-400-420-440 sts (= approx 19 sts every 10 cm) from the right side using circular needle size 4. Start mid back and work your way round the whole jacket. Purl 1 row, knit 1 round and continue in moss sts. When border measures 1.5 cm inc 2 sts by each of the 2 marking threads on front pieces – inc by knitting into front and back of st until 1 st has become 3 sts, the moss sts pattern will then carry on on next row. When border measures 2.5 cm dec for 4 buttonholes on right front piece, the top one should be 1 cm from neckline and the bottom one where the increases finish. 1 buttonhole = cast off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on next row. When border measures 3.5 cm cast off sts along front pieces and lower edge on back piece, i.e. from where the neckline begins on front piece, along back piece and up till neckline on other front piece = approx 100-110 sts. The remaining sts stay on needle for collar. Collar: Continue in moss sts over the remaining collar sts, at the same time dec each side on every other row: 1 st 2 times (at the beginning of row dec by knitting 2 sts tog and at the end of row dec by knitting 2 sts tog into back of st). When collar measures 7 cm (from cast-on row) dec each side on every other row: 1 st 2 times, 2 sts 1 time and cast of remaining sts on next row in rib. Sew sleeve seams within 1 seam st. Set in sleeves and sew on buttons. |
