Gr. Tine

Decreasing tips (for neck): Dec within the centre 4 sts on the back piece knitted in garter sts and within the 23 sts on the front pieces as explained in the pattern. All dec are done from the right side. Dec as follows after the 4th and 23rd sts: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso. Dec as follows before the 4th and 23rd sts: K2 tog. Back piece: Cast on 67-74-81-92-102 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side – all seam sts are knitted in garter sts.) on needles size 4 in Alaska and knit 4 rows garter sts (1st row = the right side). Change to needles size 5 and continue in stocking sts. Remember to check your knitting gauge! When piece measures 16 cm inc 1 st each side on every 4-4-4-7-7 cm a total of 4-4-4-3-3 times = 75-82-89-98-108 sts. When piece measures 35-36-37-38-39 cm bind off for armhole each side on every other row: 3sts 1-1-1-2-2 times, 2sts 1-1-2-3-4 times and 1 st 2-4-4-3-6 times = 61-64-67-68-68 sts. Bind off the centre 11-12-13-14-14 sts for neck and bind off 1 st on each neck edge on next row - see Decreasing tips: = 24-25-26-26-26 sts left for each shoulder. Right front: Cast on 38-41-45-50-55 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st at the side) on needles size 4 mm in Alaska and knit 4 rows of garter sts (1st row = the right side). Change to needles size 5 and knit 2 rows stocking sts, but knit the 4 edge sts towards mid front in garter sts. Continue in stocking sts, whilst knitting M.1 over the 23 sts towards mid front(1st row in M.1 = the right side). Now read all of the next section before continuing! Inc at the side: When piece measures 16 cm inc as described for back piece. Neck shaping: At the same time, when the piece measure 20-21-22-23-24 cm dec before the 23 sts – see decreasing tips: On every 4th row 1 st a total of 5 times, then on every 6th row 1 st 6-6-7-7-7 times. Armhole: At the same time, when piece measures 35-36-37-38-39 cm bind off for armhole as described for back piece. After all dec and inc have been made, there are 24-25-26-26-26 left for shoulder. Continue to knit M.1 with 1 seam st on the side until piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm. Bind off Left front: Cast on and knit as right front, remember to reverse (make a mirror image of) M.1. Sleeve: Cast on 50-50-50-58-58 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side) on needles size 4 mm in Alaska and knit 4 rows of garter sts. (1st row = the right side). Change to needles size 5 and knit 2 rows of stocking sts. Continue knitting M.2 with a seam st each side. When sleeve measures 8 cm (next row should be from the right side) dec 3-3-3-4-4 sts evenly (make sure to dec in sections knitted in stocking sts). When sleeve measures 10 cm bind off 3 sts evenly on row as above = 44-44-44-51-51 sts. Knit 2 rows stocking sts. Continue next row as follows: 1 seam st, K3,*1 bubble –see explanation on bubble in M.1 -, K6*, repeat *-* and finish with K4, 1 seam st. Continue in stocking sts, at the same time adjusting the number of sts on 1st row os stocking sts to 43-43-45-48-50 sts. When sleeve measures 13-13-14-15-13 cm inc 1 st each side on every 4.5-3.5-3-2.5-2.5 cm a total of 8-10-11-12-13 times = 59-63-67-72-76 sts. When sleeve measures 48-48-48-47-45 cm bind off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-1-1-2-2 times and 1 st 3-4-5-5-6-times. Knit the other sleeve. Assembly: Sew shoulders seams. Set in the sleeves. Sew the sides and the sleeves together in the seam sts. Button hole: Crochet a total of 4 button loops evenly distributed at the edge of right front piece. The lowest one should be 2 cm from the bottom edge and the top one should be 20-21-22-23-24 cm from the bottom edge (i.e. where the neckline starts). 1 button hole loop= Start from the wrong side as follows: Crochet 1 dc in a st, 5 sl st, skip 1–1.5 cm, 1 dc in the followng st. Turn and crochet 5 dc around loop. Cut and sew tight. Sew buttons to the left front piece. Pom-pom: Make 2 pom-poms in Vienna. The pom-poms should be 6-7 cm in diameter. Cut 2 pieces of Vienna thread each 70 cm long, twist them tog. until you feel a resistance. Fold the twisted threads in the middle and let it “twist itself”. Make a knot each end. The string should measure approx. 25-30 cm. Attach a pompom at each end of the string and attach a small safety pin in the middle of the string so that you can attach the pom-poms to the cardigan. |
