I’m new to crocheting when starting the pattern with 9 trebles around the chain ring it seems a bit tight is there a chain between each treble?
05.11.2022 - 12:21DROPS Design answered:
Dear Briony, no, there are no chain stitches in between the trebles. You need to maintain the gauge established in the pattern (18 treble crochets = 10 cm). Happy crocheting!

Hi Please can you confirm the amount of yarn required for this pattern, ie does 100-100g means I need a total of 100g for either size (which equates to two balls of Drops Soft Tweed)? Thank you,
24.03.2022 - 17:21DROPS Design answered:
Dear Diane, correct, you need 100 g in size S/M as well as in size M/L divided by 50 g a ball Soft-Tweed = 2 balls for the hat. Happy crocheting!

Crocheted beret in DROPS Soft Tweed. The piece is worked top down with lace pattern.
DROPS 225-22 |

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each round of treble crochets, work 3 chain stitches. These chain stitches do not replace the first treble crochet; they are worked in addition. The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Choose diagram for your size. DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on the round (e.g. 99 stitches) and divide by the number of decreases to be made (e.g. 11) = 9. In this example decrease by working together each 8th and 9th stitch as follows: * Make 1 yarn over, insert the hook through the next stitch, pick up the strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook *, work from *-* 1 more time, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (= 1 stitch decreased). SHAPING: Make the beret wet and press out any excess moisture. Place the beret over a plate of approx. the same diameter as the hat. Place the plate on a glass so the beret is not touching the surface. Allow the beret to dry and carefully remove from the plate. Repeat after each wash. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- BERET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, top down. BERET: Use hook size 4 mm and DROPS Soft Tweed. Work 5 chain stitches – read CHAIN STITCH and form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Work diagram A.1 (choose diagram for your size) 9 times in width around the chain-stitch ring – read CROCHET INFORMATION. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! When A.1 has been completed there are 16-17 treble crochets in each repeat = 144-153 treble crochets on the round. Work diagram A.2 over A.1. When A.2 has been completed there are 11-12 treble crochets in each repeat = 99-108 treble crochets. Work 1 round with 1 treble crochet in each stitch and decrease 11-16 stitches evenly spaced on the round – read DECREASE TIP = 88-92 stitches. Work 3 rounds of double crochets worked in the back loop of each stitch. The beret measures approx. 22-23 cm. Cut and fasten the strand – read SHAPING. |
