Hi, For the shoulder, It says to work the shoulder until the piece measures 63/4" (for size 3/4). Is that measured from the decrease for the arm hole? That is the only measurement that would make sense to me. Thanks, Kari
04.09.2021 - 00:39DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kari, 6 3/4" is the measurement from the cast on edge (or the total length of the back/front). Happy knitting!

Hi, I would like to do this using two needles in lieu of a circular needle. Do you think that will work? Anything thing I need to be aware of?
05.08.2021 - 07:39DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Agnew, sure you can since this jumper is worked back and forth on circular needle to get enough room for all stitches, only neck edge is worked in the round (sew just one shoulder before picking up sts and finish with the seam on 2nd shoulder + neck edge). Read even more here. Happy knitting!

Merci d'avance!!!

Mvh DROPS Design

In Drops 26-11 (Children), the pattern for the front states, when the piece is 18" long: "...slip the middle 14 sts on 1 stitch holder for neck and finish each shoulder separately." However, nowhere in the pattern does it tell one how to "finish each shoulder". What do I do with the stitches on either side of the holder? HOW do I finish each shoulder??
29.06.2020 - 04:08DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Post, slip the stitches from first shoulder (before the 14 sts for neck) on a stitch holder, and finish each shoulder separately binding off for neck as explained = 20 sts remain for shoulder and cast off when piece measures 52 cm/20.47 in (larger size). Then slip stitches from first shoulder back on needle and work as first shoulder = cast off for neck and continue til same height before casting off. Happy knitting!

| Knitted jumper in garter st with round neck in DROPS Air. Size children 1 - 10 years.
							DROPS Children 26-11 | |
| GARTER ST (back and forth): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. ---------------------------------------------------------- FRONT PIECE: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on (51) 54-58-61-64-68 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with Air and work in GARTER ST - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures (22) 24-27-30-33-36 cm, dec 1 st at beg of the next 2 rows (marks armholes) = (49) 52-56-59-62-66 sts on needle. When piece measures (29) 32-35-39-42-46 cm, slip the middle (7) 8-10-11-14-14 sts on 1 stitch holder for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Then cast off at beg of every row from neck as follows: Cast off 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times = (15) 16-17-18-18-20 sts remain on shoulder. Continue to work until piece measures (33) 36-40-44-48-52 cm and loosely cast off. Repeat on the other shoulder. BACK PIECE: Cast on and work as on front piece until piece measures (31) 34-38-42-46-50 cm. Now cast off the middle (17) 18-20-21-24-24 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue to dec 1 st on next row from neck = (15) 16-17-18-18-20 sts remain on row. Continue to work until piece measures (33) 36-40-44-48-52 cm and loosely cast off. Repeat on the other shoulder. SLEEVE: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on (29) 31-33-33-34-34 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) on circular needle size 4 mm with Air. Work 2 ridges. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work in stocking st. When piece measures (5) 6-6-6-7-7 cm, inc 1 st in each side. Repeat inc every (5) 6-4½-4½-3½-3½ cm (4) 4-6-7-9-10 times in total = (37) 39-45-47-52-54 sts. When piece measures (22) 26-31-35-39-43 cm, work 2 rows while cast off 4 sts at beg of each of these rows, then loosely cast off all sts. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew side seams in each side on front and back piece from armhole and down until approx. 6 cm at the bottom of body (= vent) – sew in outer loops of edge sts to avoid a chunky seam. Sew sleeves tog inside 1 edge st and sew in sleeves. NECK EDGE: Pick up from RS approx. 44 to 62 sts around the neck (incl sts on stitch holder at the front) on circular needle size 4 mm with Air. P 1 round, K 1 round, P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round, then loosely cast off with K. | |
