Hei!

Crochet gingerbread house wine box cover in DROPS Paris. Theme: Christmas

||||||||||
MEASURING TIP: Pattern is for a wine box with a circumference of 52 cm. If the wine box has other measurements, add/subtract 3 sts for every 2 cm the wine box is larger/smaller than 52 cm in circumference. Measure the shorter side of wine box and multiply measurement in cm with 1.6. Divide no of sts by 2 and beg with that no of sts before marker. CROCHET INFO: Beg every dc row with 1 ch. MAGIC CIRCLE: When piece is worked in the round, start with this technique to avoid hole in the middle (instead of ch-ring): Hold the yarn end and wind the yarn one time around the index finger to make a loop. Hold the loop with left thumb and middle finger, place the yarn over left index finger. Insert hook through the loop, make a YO and pull yarn through loop, work 1 ch, then work 5 dc around the loop. When the desired no of dc have been reached, pull the yarn end to tighten the loop. ---------------------------------------------------------- GINGER BREAD MAN COVER: Worked back and forth. Work 84 ch on hook size 4.5 mm with brown - READ MEASURING TIP. Work 1 ch - READ CROCHET INFO, 1 dc in every ch (= 84 dc). Work 2 more rows with 1 dc in every dc (last row is from RS). Then work as follows: Work 1 dc in each of the first 74 dc until piece measures 6 cm, adjust so that next row is from WS. Work 1 dc in each of the first 74 dc, work 10 ch AT THE SAME TIME insert 1 marker between 5th and 6th ch. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! Then work 1 dc in every st (= 84 dc). Continue with 1 dc in every dc until piece measures 14 cm. Switch to off white. Work 1 row as follows: * 1 dc, 1 ch, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 dc in last dc on row. Switch to brown and work 1 dc in every dc and 1 dc in every ch on row. Work 1 dc in every dc until piece measures 21 cm. NOTE: Adjust height according to wine box. Switch to off white. Work 1 row as follows: * 1 dc, 1 ch, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 dc in last dc on row. Fasten off. ASSEMBLY: Sew sides tog in front loop of outermost st with brown. TOP: Then work the top of the box back and forth on hook size 4.5 mm with brown. Beg 9 sts before marker and work 1 dc in each of the next 18 sts. Turn and work 1 dc in each of the 18 dc. Continue like this until piece measures 15 cm (NOTE: Adjust height according to wine box). Fasten off. ASSEMBLY: Sew top to the sides in outer loop. EDGE: Work 1 edge where an off white row was worked in the middle of house as follows: Work from WS, i.e. work towards the left on hook size 4.5 mm with off white as follows: * 1 dc, 3 ch, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* around the entire house, finish with a sl st in first dc. Then work 3 ch, work 5 tr and 1 sl st in every ch-space on round, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch. Fasten off. Repeat edge at the bottom of house (in first dc row). ROOF: See chart. Divide the roof in two vertically, from edge and up to last off white row with off white. Then embroider back stitches from edge, over roof and over to the other side. Repeat until the entire roof has been divided in squares. Embroider back stitches down along each side. CANDY: Work MAGIC CIRCLE - see explanation above on hook size 4.5 mm with orange/red/dark turquoise/pistachio/strong yellow Paris. Cut the yarn. Work 1 candy for every square on roof. DOOR + WINDOW: On the long side embroider a door with back stitches with off white, approx. 10 cm up from beg edge and 5 cm wide. Work 1 frosted edge along the top of door with off white, beg from RS as follows: Work 1 dc in first dc, * 2 ch, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* 3 times in total. Turn and work back 1 htr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 sl st in every ch-space. Embroider a window with back stitches with off white on the side of door approx. 5 cm up, then work frost the same way as on door. Work 1 magic circle on hook size 4.5 mm for door handle with off white. Fasten on door. SNOWBALLS: Work 1 magic circle on hook size 4.5 mm with off white. Work 3 snowballs in total. Fasten them on one long side. FROST: Around the opening work 1 frosted edge at the top on hook size 4.5 mm with off white as follows: Beg from RS, work 1 dc in first dc, * 2 ch, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* 4 times in total. Turn and work: 1 htr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 sl st in every ch-space. Fasten off. |
