After "A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically (last row = from WS), then K 5 rows and P 1 row from WS" mean? I thought that I ended on a RS after A.1 is worked. I'm having trouble understanding what "(last row = from WS)" means. I understand I K 5 rows and then P 1 row, but if I do that, won't I end up starting the A.2 section on a WS? Please help!

Dear Nora, after A.1 work last row from WS, then K 5 row (1st from RS, last from RS), then P 1 row from WS and start A.2. Happy knitting!

After A1 is completed, does "K5 rows" mean knit all in garter stitch, or knit on RS and purl on WS?
26.03.2015 - 23:33DROPS Design answered:
Dear Theresa, after A.1 you work a total of 5 K rows = 5 rows in garter st (= Knit all rows), then P 1 row from WS. Happy knitting!

Bonjour Mme Shazar, pour élargir l'écharpe, montez 16 m supplémentaires pour chaque motif de A.1BB / A.1 en plus en largeur. Bon tricot!

Thanks, I read the instructions through many times until it finally clicked that I could divide them into three parts , for the three different diagrams, then what you said makes sense and I am able to move forward

How do you get from 105 stitches from the second row to 81 for the 3rd row? I followed the diagrams as instructed and only got a decrease of 12 which takes it to 93 having done AA 13stitches once, BB -5 times = 80 stitches and CC once with 3garter at beginning and end.
29.10.2014 - 11:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Liv, you decrease a total of 4 sts in A.1 AA and 4 sts in each of the 5 repeats of A.1BB, so that you decrease a total of 4 + (5x4) = 24 sts. You started with 105 sts - 24 sts dec = 81 sts. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS shawl with lace pattern and bobbles in ”Lace”.
DROPS 151-9 |
|||||||||||||||||||
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagrams show the pattern from RS. BOBBLE: Row 1 (RS): Work 7 sts in 1 st as follows: * K 1, 1 YO *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with K 1 = 7 sts. It is important to work the sts loosely (approx. 1 cm long). Row 2 (WS): P these 7 sts tog. It will be difficult to work the sts from 1st row tog if they are too short and too tight. --------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 105 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm with Lace and K 1 row from WS. Work next row as follows from RS: 3 sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above, A.1AA (= 13 sts), A.1BB over the next 80 sts, A.1CC (= 6 sts), finish with 3 sts in garter st. When AA, BB and CC have been worked, there are 81 sts on needle. Work next row as follows: 3 sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above, A.1A (= 9 sts), A.1B over the next 60 sts, A.1C (= 6 sts), finish with 3 sts in garter st. Continue like this until A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically (last row = from RS), then K 4 rows and P 1 row from WS. Then work as follows from RS: 3 sts in garter st, A.2A (= 5 sts), A.2B over the next 64 sts, A.2C (= 6 sts), finish with 3 sts in garter st. Continue like this until piece measures approx. 75 cm, adjust so that one whole repetition of A.2 has been worked vertically. Now K 4 rows over all sts. Put all sts on a stitch holder. Knit another part the same way. ASSEMBLY: Graft/sew the 2 parts tog st by st. BLOCKING: Place the shawl in lukewarm water until it is soaking wet. Carefully squeeze the water out of the shawl - do not twist the shawl - then roll the shawl in a towel and squeeze to remove more water - the shawl will now only be moist. Place the shawl on a carpet or mattress - carefully stretch it out to size and fasten it with pins. Leave to dry. Repeat the process when the garment has been washed. |
