When knitting M1, I end up with 192 stitches, as the pattern says, but there are 18 stitches in M1 which doesn't divide into 192. Am I supposed to have a half pattern at the end of the round? Thanks.

Dear Mrs Anthony, read diagrams bottom up from the right side towars the left (on every round / work WS rows later from the left towards the right), this means M.1 is worked over 4 sts and 18 rows; you will repeat M.1 a total of 48 times in the round over the 192 sts. Read more about diagrams here. Happy knitting!

Når man skal lave diagrammerne passer M1 og M2 med antallet af masker, men det gør de ikke i M3, M4 og M5. F.eks. har jeg 216 masker og diagram M3 er på 21 masker. 216/21= 10,29. Dvs. at jeg får 6 masker i overskud . Ligeledes i M4 216/15= 14,4 - dvs 6 masker i overskud. I M5 er det 216/23=9,39 - dvs. 9 masker i overskud. Hvordan gør jeg?

Hej Mona, M.1, M.3 og M.5 går over 4 masker, du strikker alle diagrammer fra nederste højre hjørne og opad. God fornøjelse!

I am trying to knit Drops15-22 Traditional Norwegian Jumper and I am using the correct yarn There are 4 sizes but both the sleeves and body say knit the same total number of stitches for all 4 sizes; 192 and 103 stitches Every jumper would then be the same width. Please advise

Dear Mrs Griffiths, the first 2 indications are for woman size S/M and M/L and the next 2 (with brackets) are for men, sizes S/M and M/L. See measurement chart - the both women sizes and the largest man size have same armhole depth. Happy knitting!

Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS and the entire pattern is worked in stocking st. Rib: * K1, P1 *. Repeat from *-*. Body: The jumper is worked in the round on circular needle and cut for armholes afterwards. Numbers in ( ) refer to men’s sizes. Cast on 152-158 (164-170) sts on circular needle size 3 mm with grey and work 6 cm Rib. Change to circular needle size 5 mm and continue in M.1, at the same time inc 40-58 (28-46) sts evenly on first round = 192-216 (192-216) sts. Remember the knitting tension! After M.1 continue in M.2 until piece measures 32-34 (36-38) cm. At the same time when piece measures 30-32 (35-36) cm inc 5 sts each side for armhole (to be cut for armhole afterwards and not included in pattern). After M.2 work M.3, M.4, M.5, at the same time when 7 rows remain of M.5 cast off the middle 38-38 (36-36) sts mid front for neck and complete piece back and forth on needle. Dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 1-1 (2-2) sts 1 time and cast off remaining sts after M.5. Piece measures approx 60-62 (64-66) cm. Sleeve: Cast on 36-38 (38-40) sts on double pointed needles size 3 mm with grey and work 5 cm Rib. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm, K 1 round, at the same time inc 15-13 (11-9) sts evenly on round = 51-51 (49-49) sts. Now work M.1 (place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve), at the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 26-26 (26-27) times on every * 4th, 3rd and 3rd * round alternately for ladies sizes, on every 4th round for men’s size S/M and on every * 3rd and 4th * round alternately for men’s size M/L = 103-103 (101-103) sts. Incorporate inc sts in pattern as you go along. After M.1 work M.2 until 10 cm before finished measurements, and now work M.3. Piece now measures approx 51-48 (57-54) cm. Work 2 cm in reverse stocking st (for sewing sleeve to body piece). Cast off. Assembly: Insert a marking thread in the middle of the inc sts for armhole. Sew 2 seams on a sewing machine around the marking thread, 1st seam = ½ st from the MT, 2nd seam = ½ st from the 1st seam. Cut for armholes. Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 90 sts round the neck on double pointed needles size 3 mm with grey and work 3 cm rib, cast off. Set in sleeves as follows: sew the last row in stocking st on sleeves to row after machine seam on armhole. Turn jumper inside out and fasten piece in reverse stocking st on sleeve to body piece. Hat: Size: One-size Materials: DROPS Alaska from Garnstudio 100 g colour no 05, grey + white and yellow remnants from jumper Cast on 100 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm and work 10 rounds stocking st, P 1 round (= folding edge, measure piece from here), M.6. Change to circular needle size 5 mm and continue in grey stocking st until piece measures 20 cm from folding edge. Now work all sts tog 2 by 2, work 1 round, work all sts tog 2 by 2 on next round, work 1 round and now cast off all remaining sts. Sew top tog. Fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Make a small yellow tassel and attach to top of hat. |
