Bon crochet!

BASQUE HAT: Crochet Tension: 14 tr x 8.5 rows with 1 thread of each quality with crochet hook size 5 mm = 10 x 10 cm. Crochet info: Replace the first tr at the beg of tr-rows with 3 ch. Finish the row with 1 tr in the 3rd ch from beg of previous row. Replace the first dc at the beg of dc-rows with 1 ch. Finish the row with 1 sl st in ch from beg of previous row. Only crochet through the back loop of dc (not through the whole dc). Decreasing dc: Crochet 2 dc tog to 1 dc as follows: Crochet 1 dc but wait with the last yo and pull through (= 2 sts on hook), crochet next dc and pull thread through all 3 sts on hook – 2 dc is now 1 dc. Crochet 4 ch with crochet hook size 5 mm and 1 thread of each quality and form a ring with a sl st. 1st round: 8 tr in ring – read Crochet info! 2nd round: 2 tr in each tr = 16 tr 3rd round: *1 tr in first tr, 2 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* = 24 tr 4th round: *1 tr in each of the first 2 tr, 2 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* = 32 tr 5th round: *1 tr in each of the first 3 tr, 2 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* = 40 tr 6th round: *1 tr in each of the first 4 tr, 2 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* = 48 tr 7th round: *1 tr in each of the first 5 tr, 2 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* = 56 tr 8th – 13th round: crochet as before with 1 more st between each inc (i.e. inc 8 tr per round) = 104 tr on 13th round. Piece measures approx 30 cm. 14th – 18th round: 1 tr in each tr = 104 tr Now continue with dc’s – read Crochet info! 19th round: *6 dc, crochet tog the 7th and 8th dc (see above)*, repeat from *-* = 91 dc 20th round: 1 dc in each dc 21st round: *5 dc, crochet tog the 6th and 7th dc*, repeat from *-* = 78 dc Now crochet 1 dc in each dc until the dc-border measures approx 5 cm. Cut the thread and sew tight. Pompon: Make a pompon in Vivaldi with a diameter of approx 5 cm and attach to the top of the Basque hat. For pompon instructions please see Garnstudio’s Technique Pages in the School of Handcraft on the pattern front page. MITTENS: Crochet Tension: 14 tr x 8.5 rows with 1 thread of each quality with crochet hook size 5 mm = 10 x 10 cm. Crochet info: Crochet round in dc. Only crochet through the back loop of the dc (not through the whole dc). Decreasing dc: Crochet 2 dc tog to 1 dc as follows: Crochet 1 dc but wait with the last yo and pull through (= 2 sts on hook), crochet next dc and pull thread through all 3 sts on hook – 2 dc is now 1 dc. Loosely crochet 25-28-31 ch with crochet hook size 5 and 1 thread of each quality – ch-chain measures approx 18-20-22 cm, this is the mitten’s circumference. Form a ring with 1 sl st. Crochet 1 dc in each ch = 25-28-31 dc and continue round with 1 dc in each dc. When piece measures 13-14-15 cm make an opening for the thumb by crocheting 5-5-6 loose ch at the beg of round, skip the next 5-5-6 dc and continue round (the opening will be approx 4 cm wide, make the opening smaller/bigger by crocheting less/more ch and skip the equivalent no of dc). On next round crochet 1 dc in each of the 5-5-6 ch for thumb opening = 25-28-31 dc. Continue round until piece measures 22-24-26 cm (or desired length, 2 cm left until finished measurements). Now dec by crocheting all dc’s tog 2 by 2 – read Decreasing dc = 13-14-16 dc. Crochet 1 round without dec and dec again on next round = 7-7-8 dc. Crochet 1 more round with dec = 4-4-4 ch. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts and sew tight. Thumb: Crochet 10-10-12 dc round the opening for thumb (1 dc in each of the skipped dc and 1 dc in each of the 5-5-6 ch). Crochet dc round as before. When thumb measures approx 5-5-6 cm crochet 1 round crocheting all dc’s tog 2 by 2 = 5-5-6 dc.Cut the thread and pull through remaining sts, sew tight. Crochet another mitten. |
