Dear Sylvia, you have to put a marker in the middle stitch, then work then in dc rows, and at the same time inc by crocheting 3 dc in this st with the marker to inc 2 dc on the next 4-4-5 rows (see size). Happy crocheting!

Thanks Katalin, it seems that you are able to read this without any problem? Maybe you could give me a hand?

The "3 numbers"that you see, is given for different sizes,in this case 48 is for size small,57 for medium and 66 for large.

Hello, I'm new in reading patterns, I've always seen them as diagrams not as instructions so it's not being easy. What does Crochet 48-57-66 mean? I don't understand why it's written 3 numbers sometimes. Waiting for your reply! Thanks

DROPS Crochet bikini top with tassels in Safran

Crochet Gauge: width of 22 tr x 12 rows on crochet hook size 3 = 10 x 10 cm. NB: Because of different crochet techniques used by the individual, the gauge may vary, so you might have to drop/go up a hook size to obtain the correct gauge. Crochet info: Turn each row with 3 ch. Increasing tips: Inc 2 tr by crocheting 3 tr in tr with marking thread. Bikini top: Crochet each cup separately from bottom up. Cups are joined by crocheting together bottom edges. Cup: Crochet 48-57-66 ch (inclusive 3 ch to turn with) using hook size 3 and Safran. 1st row: 1 tr in the 5thh ch from the hook, *skip 1 ch, 1 tr in each of the next 2 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 tr in the last ch = 31-37-43 tr (the first tr = 3 ch). Insert a marking thread in the middle tr and let the thread follow the piece as you progress. Remaining rows: Crochet 1 tr in each tr – see Crochet info – at the same time inc 2 tr in the middle of the piece – see Increasing tips above – on the next 4-4-5 rows = 39-45-53 tr. Now start decreasing in the middle of the piece: on first row skip 1 tr in the middle of piece, on the following rows skip the middle 2 tr. Continue the dec until there are 4 tr left on row – piece measures approx 18-21-25 cm. Crochet tie-string over the remaining 4 tr – 1 tr in each tr – until string measures approx 40 cm, cut the thread. Crochet one more cup. Joining together the cups: Crochet 1 tr in each of the tr at bottom edge on 1 cup and then 1 tr in each of the tr at bottom edge of the other cup = 62-74-86 tr. Crochet 2 rows with 1 tr in each tr, on the last row adjusting number of tr to 61-74-85 – do this by skipping the occasional tr. Change to crochet hook size 4 and crochet next row as follows: Size S: 5 ch, skip 2 tr, 1 tr in next tr, *2 ch, skip 2 tr, 1 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* to the end of row = 20 ch-loops. Turn the piece, crochet sl sts to the middle of first ch-loop, 5 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop, *2 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop*, repeat from *-* to the end of row = 19 ch-loops. Size M: 5 ch, skip 2 tr, 1 tr in next tr, *3 ch, skip 3 tr, 1 tr in next tr, 2 ch, skip 2 tr, 1 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* to the end of row = 21 ch-loops. Turn the piece, crochet sl sts to the middle of first ch-loop, 5 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop, *2 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop*, repeat from *-* to the end of row = 20 ch-loops. Size L: 6 ch, skip 3 tr, 1 tr in next tr, *3 ch, skip 3 tr, 1 tr in next tr*, repeat from *-* to the end of row = 21 ch-loops. Turn the piece, crochet sl sts to the middle of first ch-loop, 6 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop, *3 ch, 1 tr in next ch-loop*, repeat from *-* to the end of row = 20 ch-loops. All sizes: Continue like this (i.e. 1 less ch-loop per row) until there are 2 ch-loops left, cut the thread. Crochet ch-loops round the triangular front piece as follows, using crochet hook size 4 and starting at the top on the right side: 1 dc in the last tr-row before the ch-loops, 3 ch, 1 dc in first ch-loop, *3 ch, 1 dc in next ch-loop*, repeat from *-* round the triangle and finish with 1 dc in first tr-row on the left side. Tie-strings for back: Crochet a tie-string form both sides of bikini top, using crochet hook size 3 and starting in the lower row of tr as follows: 1 sl st and 3 ch, 9 tr along the edge (2 tr in each tr). Turn the piece with 3 ch and crochet 1 tr in each tr. Continue until string measures approx 15-17-19 cm. Now dec 1 tr at the beginning of each row by skipping the first tr from previous row. Continue to decrease until there are 4 tr left on row and continue over these 4 tr until string measures approx 40-45-50 cm. Cut the thread and crochet a similar string the other side. Tassels: Insert tassels along the sides of triangular front piece. 1 tassel = 2 threads, each 35 cm long. Fold threads, pull loop through ch-loop and pull ends through loop. Put a bead on tassel and tie a knot approx 5 cm from the top. Insert a tassel in every other ch-loop on both sides. |
