Bon tricot!

Can you explain how to make this pattern work out evenly? If I cast on 171 stitches (size 2-4) and knit a stitch at each end of the row for the edge, that leaves 169 stitches- which does not divide by 8. Thanks
21.01.2021 - 01:18DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Stants, in Size 2 years, work as follows: 1 edge stitch, repeat the 8 sts in M.1 a total of 21 times = over the next 168 sts, work now the first st in M.1 and finish with 1 edge st. From WS work: 1 edge st, work the first st in M.1 and repeat M.1 reading now diagram from the left towards the right, finish with 1 edge st. Happy knitting!

I'm finding it really hard to read the diagram. Where exactly are the yo and k2tog's. On the 7th row of the pattern there aren't enough stitches to do the knit2tog.
12.03.2018 - 21:36DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Ghiandoni, as shown under diagram Key you will work the YO before the sl 1, K1,psso and after the K2 tog ( = row 3 and 5) - on row 7 you will work YO, sl 1, K2 tog, psso, YO. There should always be 8 sts per repeat, ie all dec will be compensate with a YO. Happy knitting!

Hej Lena.
