------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g., 90 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 6) = 15. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 15th stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 84-90-94-98-102-108-114 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm and colour Fog DROPS Air or DROPS Nepal. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Knit 3 rounds. Then work rib in the round (knit 1 and purl 1) for 2½-2½-2½-3-3-3½-3½ cm. Knit 2 rounds. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round; the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 0-6-2-10-6-12-6 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 84-96-96-108-108-120-120 stitches. Knit 0-0-2-2-2-2-2 rounds. Now work PATTERN as follows – read explanation above: * Work A.1, then A.2 *, work from *-* a total of 7-8-8-9-9-10-10 times around the yoke. When A.1 and A.2 are finished in height, there are 238-272-272-306-306-340-340 stitches and the yoke measures approx. 20-20-21-21-21-21-21 cm from the marker. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8th-8th-8th-8th-10th-10th-10th pattern-repeat, i.e., the 9th stitch in the 4th-4th-4th-4th-5th-5th-5th repeat of A.2 (= mid-front – see mark in A.2). You will count from this marker when dividing later. Continue with stocking stitch and colour Fog. AT THE SAME TIME on the first round, increase 6-0-12-2-12-2-18 stitches evenly spaced – remember INCREASE TIP = 244-272-284-308-318-342-358 stitches. When the yoke measures 21-21-22-23-24-25-26 cm from the marker mid-front, divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Make sure the pattern is divided symmetrically as follows: Work until there are 86-96-100-109-111-118-122 stitches left before the marker mid-front, place the next 50-57-58-64-64-66-66 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-14-14-18 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 72-79-84-90-95-105-113 (= front piece), place the next 50-57-58-64-64-66-66 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-14-14-18 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 72-79-84-90-95-105-113 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 160-174-188-200-218-238-262 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-14-14-18 cast-on stitches under one sleeve. Work to the marker; the round starts here. Work stocking stitch in the round with colour Fog until the piece measures 45-47-49-50-51-53-55 cm from mid-front, after the neck. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1 and purl 1). AT THE SAME TIME increase 28-32-34-36-40-42-44 stitches evenly on the first round = 188-206-222-236-258-280-306 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 49-51-53-55-56-58-60 cm from mid-front, after the neck and 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 50-57-58-64-64-66-66 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder onto circular needle size 5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-14-14-18 cast-on stitches under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 58-65-68-74-78-80-84 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-14-14-18 new stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round with colour Fog. AT THE SAME TIME, after 1 cm decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 10-7-5-4-4-3½-3 cm a total of 3-6-7-9-10-10-11 times = 52-53-54-56-58-60-62 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 40-40-40-39-39-38-37 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1 and purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 10-11-10-10-10-10-10 stitches evenly on the first round = 62-62-64-66-68-70-72 stitches. When the rib measures 2½-2½-2½-3½-3½-3½-3½ cm, knit 3 rounds. Then cast off with knit. The sleeve measures approx. 43-43-43-43-43-42-41 cm from the division. |
