Is there a mistake in the instructions reg. YOKE? After having 296 stitches comes Round 1, where 4 stitches are added. This round is instructed to be done two times along with the second round. Then there are added all together 8 stitches, which leads to having not 304, but 308 stitches. That doesn't add up when starting to divide the work to body and sleeves.

Hi Terhi, You are correct, there should be 304 stitches after working the 2 rounds x 2, and this is the stitch count which is also given in the text. Regards, Drops Team.

Hilsen Drops Team.

Would the Lima yarn be suitable for this pattern ( Sing to me Sweater ) , if I change needles according to suggestion for needle changes ?
20.10.2026 - 02:22DROPS Design answered:
Dear Nancy, you might use Lima as long as you get correct tension in both width and height and like the texture. Happy knitting!

Hi! I'm a little confused about the yoke part where we attach markers. The total stitches don't add up to 96 (I'm knitting size M). How should I be counting from by first stitch? I'm a beginner, sorry if it's a silly question.
03.09.2026 - 06:46DROPS Design answered:
Dear Anna, note that the markers will be added in one stitch (and not between stitches), so that you will have: 1 st with a marker in, 16 sts, 1 st with a marker in, 30 sts, 1 st with a marker in, 16 sts, 1 st with a marker in, 30 sts = 1+16+1+30+1+16+1+30=96 sts. Happy knitting!

The pattern says to use 3.5mm needles after the cast on but it doesn't say when to change to 4mm. Do I assume its after the rolled edge rows? Sorry , I'm not very experienced!

Dear Teresa, we'll send your comment to the design department and check where you should change to 4mm needles. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------ DOUBLE STRAND: If you require an odd number of balls to work this garment, you can use a double strand from the same ball, using the strand from the inside and outside of the ball. When changing balls, change the strands in different places so the strand-fastenings are less visible. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn-over purl-wise from the left to the right needle, place it back onto the left needle by inserting the left needle through the back (the yarn over is now the other way round). Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH (yarn over twists to the left): Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 90-92-96-100-104-108-114 stitches slightly loosely, using circular needle size 4 mm and 2 strands DROPS Alpaca – read DOUBLE STRAND in explanations above. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work stocking stitch in the round for 4-4-4-4-4½-4½-4½ cm (= rolled-edge). The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 32-32-33-34-35-36-38 stitches (approx. mid-front), the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Insert 4 markers, without working the stitches and inserting each marker in a stitch: the marker-stitch and 1 stitch on each side (3 stitches) are called the raglan-stitches. You increase for raglan on each side of these 3 raglan-stitches. Insert marker-1 in the first stitch, count 16 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 27-28-30-32-34-36-39 stitches (= front piece), insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 16 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-4 in the next stitch, there are 27-28-30-32-34-36-39 stitches after the last marker (=back piece). Switch to circular needle size 4 mm Work stocking stitch and increase for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches – read explanation above for how to increase. Work as follows: ROUND 1: Knit and increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches (8 stitches increased). NOTE: At the beginning of the round, increase after the first 2 stitches, at the end of the round increase when there is 1 stitch left on the round; remember to increase on each side of 3 stitches, with the marker in the middle of these 3 stitches. ROUND 2: Knit – remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 20-22-25-26-27-27-28 times (40-44-50-52-54-54-56 rounds worked) = 250-268-296-308-320-324-338 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now increase as follows (not on the sleeves): ROUND 1: Knit and increase for raglan on the front and back pieces, i.e., increase after markers 2 and 4 and before markers 3 and 1; do not increase on the sleeves (4 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit – remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 3-4-2-3-5-8-10 times (6-8-4-6-10-16-20 rounds worked) = 262-284-304-320-340-356-378 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished; a total of 23-26-27-29-32-35-38 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 20-22-25-26-27-27-28 increases on height on the sleeves. Continue stocking stitch without further increases until the yoke measures 20-21-22-24-26-28-30 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIDIVE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Knit 2 (these stitches belong to the back piece), place the next 54-58-64-66-68-68-70 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 77-84-88-94-102-110-119 (= front piece), place the next 54-58-64-66-68-68-70 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 75-82-86-92-100-108-117 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 170-188-200-216-236-260-282 stitches. Continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 44-46-48-50-51-53-55 cm from the marker mid-front. The round begins mid-under one sleeve. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 3 and purl 3), AT THE SAME TIME increase 10-10-10-12-10-10-12 stitches evenly on round 1 = 180-198-210-228-246-270-294 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-4-5-5 cm, change to circular needle size 4 mm. Knit 1 round and cast off with knit. The jumper measures approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from the marker mid front and 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 54-58-64-66-68-68-70 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder onto circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 cast-on stitches under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 62-68-76-80-84-88-92 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 new stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 0-10-8-6-5½-4½-4 cm a total of 1-3-5-6-6-7-7 times = 60-62-66-68-72-74-78 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 41-41-41-39-37-35-33 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 3 and purl 3), AT THE SAME TIME increase 6-4-6-4-6-4-6 stitches evenly on the first round = 66-66-72-72-78-78-84 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, change to double pointed needles size 4 mm. Knit 1 round, then cast off with knit. The sleeve measures approx. 45-45-45-43-42-40-38 cm from the division. |
