---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for correct size. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT - from right side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in back loop of stitch. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT - from right side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and knit stitch in front loop of stitch. INCREASE TIP-2: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT - from wrong side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and purl stitch in front loop of stitch. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT - from wrong side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and purl stitch in back loop of stitch. KNITTING TIP: When working short row there will be a small hole when turning the piece - the hole can be closed by tightening the yarn or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip first stitch purlwise. Place strand over right needle and tighten well at the back (should lead to two loops on needle). Work these loops together on next row. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. First work piece back and forth on circular. Begin by casting on stitches in the back of neck. Then work back piece downwards while AT THE SAME TIME increasing in each side of piece until number of stitches for shoulder width is reached. Back piece has a slight diagonal shoulder. Then work down to armholes. Now put back piece a side and work the front piece. Front piece is first worked in 2 parts. Begin by picking up stitches along one shoulder from back piece, work pattern while increasing towards the neck. Repeat on the other shoulder. Put right and left front piece together when increases for neck are done. Then work front piece down to armholes. Now slip front piece and back piece on to same circular needle and work body downwards in the round on circular needle. Pick up stitches for sleeves around the armholes and work sleeves downwards. First work back and forth with short rows to form a sleeve cap, then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a neck edge. Fold the neck edge double against the wrong side and fasten. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. BACK PIECE: Work piece back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 19-21-21-23-23-23-25 stitches on circular needle size 8 mm with DROPS Snow. ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches. ROW 2 (= right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until 3 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2 and purl 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until 3 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, purl 3. AFTER 3RD ROW: Work 2nd and 3rd ROW 8-8-9-9-10-11-11 times in total (= 16-16-18-18-20-22-22 rows have been worked), then work 2nd ROW 1 more time (= 17-17-19-19-21-23-23 rows worked) = 53-55-59-61-65-69-71 stitches on needle. Work next row as follows from wrong side: Cast off 1 stitch, purl until 1 stitch remains, cast off last stitch, cut the yarn = 51-53-57-59-63-67-69 stitches. Now slip the outermost 2 stitches in each side on separate threads or stitch holders - these stitches are worked later on the sleeves = 47-49-53-55-59-63-65 stitches on needle. Insert 1 marker at the edge in each side. Now measure piece from here! Continue in stocking stitch - remember to follow the knitting tension - until piece measures 10-9-9-9-10-9-7 cm measured from marker along armhole. Now increase in each side for armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (= right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until 3 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 1-2-2-3-3-4-6 times in total (= 2-4-4-6-6-8-12 rows have been worked) = 49-53-57-61-65-71-77 stitches on needle. Work until piece measures 11-12-12-13-14-15-16 cm, measured from marker along armhole, finish with a row from wrong side. Cut the yarn, slip stitches on a thread or stitch holder, now work left front piece along the left shoulder as explained below. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Find left shoulder on back piece as follows: Place back piece flat with right side up, place back piece so that stitches on thread/stitch holder are towards you, left side of piece = left shoulder. Now pick up stitches along left diagonal shoulder on back piece - begin from right side at the neck and pick up stitches out towards the armhole as follows: Pick up 1 stitch in every row worked inside outermost stitch = 17-17-19-19-21-23-23 stitches. All length measurements on front piece are done from pick-up edge. Work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl 6-7-9-7-9-11-12, knit 2, purl 9-8-8-10-10-10-9. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit 9-8-8-10-10-10-9, purl 2, knit 6-7-9-7-9-11-12. Work 1st and 2nd ROW until piece measures 9-10-10-11-11-12-12 cm and next row is worked from right side, now increase stitches towards the neck as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, work as before the rest of row. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work as before - purl the increased stitches from wrong side/knit from right side. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 3 times in total (= 6 rows worked) = 20-20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches (work next row from right side). Cut the yarn, slip stitches on a thread or stitch holder, now work right front piece along the shoulder – read explanation below. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Now pick up stitches along left diagonal shoulder on back piece - begin from right side at the shoulder and pick up stitches out towards the neck as follows: Pick up 1 stitch in every row worked inside outermost stitch = 17-17-19-19-21-23-23 stitches. All length measurements on front piece are done from pick-up edge. Work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl 9-8-8-10-10-10-9, knit 2, purl 6-7-9-7-9-11-12. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit 6-7-9-7-9-11-12, purl 2, knit 9-8-8-10-10-10-9. Work 1st and 2nd ROW until piece measures 9-10-10-11-11-12-12 cm and next row is worked from right side, now increase stitches towards the neck as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work as before until 3 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3 – remember INCREASE TIP-1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work as before - purl the increased stitches from wrong side/knit from right side. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 3 times in total (= 6 rows worked) = 20-20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches (work next row from right side). Then place the front pieces together as explained below. FRONT PIECE (right and left part together): Work first row as follows from right side: Work as before over stitches from right front piece (knit 6-7-9-7-9-11-12, purl 2, knit the rest of row), cast on 7-9-9-11-11-11-13 stitches for neck at the end of this row and work as before over the 20-20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches from left front piece = 47-49-53-55-59-63-65 stitches on needle. Work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl 6-7-9-7-9-11-12, work PATTERN A.1 – read explanation above, purl 6-7-9-7-9-11-12. Continue back and forth like this - last row in A.1 is from right side = cable row. When A.1 has been worked vertically, there are 65-67-71-76-80-84-86 stitches on needle. Work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl 6-7-9-7-9-11-12, work A.3 3 times in total (read diagram from left to right when working from wrong side), work A.2 and purl 6-7-9-7-9-11-12. Continue pattern back and forth like this and repeat the repetition vertically - see star in diagram (always cable from the right side). Work until piece measures 26-25-27-27-28-27-25 cm from where edge where stitches were picked up. Now increase in each side for armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (= right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, work as before until 3 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work in stocking stitch and pattern as before - purl the increased stitches from wrong side and knit them from right side. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 1-2-2-3-3-4-6 times in total (= 2-4-4-6-6-8-12 rows have been worked) = 67-71-75-82-86-92-98 stitches on needle. Work until piece measures 27-28-30-31-32-33-34 cm from edge where stitches were picked up, finish with a row from wrong side. Now put front piece and back piece together for body as explained below. Now measure the piece from here. BODY: Work as follows from right side: Work the 67-71-75-82-86-92-98 stitches from front piece as before, cast on 2-2-2-4-4-6-6 new stitches at the end of this row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work the 49-53-57-61-65-71-77 stitches from back piece in stocking stitch and cast on 2-2-2-4-4-6-6 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve) = 120-128-136-151-159-175-187 stitches on needle. Insert 1 marker in this side of piece (before front piece) - in the middle of the 2-2-2-4-4-6-6 stitches that were cast on under sleeve. Marker marks the beginning of round onwards. Now work in the round on needle, i.e. work pattern as before over the middle 53-53-53-62-62-62-62 stitches on front piece and in stocking stitch over the remaining stitches. Work until piece measures approx. 32-33-33-33-34-34-35 cm from armhole – adjust so that 3 to 4 rounds have been worked after a round with cables. Now work rib while at the same time increasing and decreasing stitches evenly on 1st round, work as follows from marker: Switch to circular needle size 6 mm, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) over the first 8-10-12-12-14-18-21 stitches while at the same time increasing 2-4-2-2-4-4-5 stitches evenly (= 10-14-14-14-18-22-26 stitches rib), work rib (= purl 2/knit 2) over the 53-53-53-62-62-62-62 stitches from pattern at the front while at the same time decreasing 1-1-1-0-0-0-0 stitches over each section with cables in A.3 (= 50-50-50-62-62-62-62 stitches rib), work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) over the remaining 59-65-71-77-83-95-104 stitches while at the same time increasing 17-15-21-15-21-21-24 stitches evenly (= 76-80-92-92-104-116-128 stitches rib) = 136-144-156-168-184-200-216 stitches on row. Rib now fits knit 2/purl 2 the entire round and fits over pattern from front piece. When rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-8-8 cm, cast off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures approx. 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm, measured furthest in towards neck. SLEEVES: Sleeve is worked from the armhole and down. Place piece flat and insert 1 marker at the top of armhole = mid on top shoulder (NOTE! Mid on top shoulder is not same place as stitches were picked up for front piece but approx. 3-4 cm down on front piece). Pick up stitches around armhole, use circular needle size 6 mm, begin in the middle of the new stitches cast on under sleeve - pick up 40-42-46-50-52-56-58 stitches including the 2 stitches from thread/stitch holder - adjust to pick up same number of stitches on each side of marker. Switch to circular needle size 8 mm. Now work in stocking stitch back and forth with short rows over sleeve cap to get a better shape on sleeve, begin round mid under sleeve as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work 6-7-8-10-10-10-10 stitches past marker on top of shoulder, turn piece – read KNITTING TIP. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 6-7-8-10-10-10-10 stitches past marker, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Work 4-4-5-8-8-8-8 stitches past where the previous turn was, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work 4-4-5-8-8-8-8 stitches past where the previous turn was, turn piece. Repeat ROWS 3 and 4. Work until 6-6-6-4-4-4-4 turns have been done in total (= 3-3-3-2-2-2-2 times in each side and last row is worked from wrong side). AFTER LAST TURN: The last time 4th row is worked finish row by turning piece, then work from right side until beginning of round (mid under sleeve). Insert 1 marker thread mid under sleeve, this is used when decreasing stitches under sleeve. Move marker thread upwards when working. Now work in the round in stocking stitch over all stitches while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing under sleeve, read DECREASE TIP and decrease like this: When sleeve measures 1 cm mid under sleeve, decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 2 cm 1-1-2-2-2-3-3 times in total = 34-36-38-40-42-44-46 stitches on row. Work until sleeve measures 45-45-45-44-43-41-41 cm from mid on top shoulder. Switch to double pointed needles size 6 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 6-8-6-8-10-8-10 stitches evenly on 1st round = 40-44-44-48-52-52-56 stitches. When rib measures 8-8-8-9-9-10-10 cm, cast off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 53-53-53-53-52-51-51 cm from mid on top of shoulder. NECK EDGE: Use circular needle size 6 mm. Begin from right side at one shoulder line and pick up 56-60-60-68-68-72-76 stitches inside 1 stitch, number of stitches must be divisible by 4. Work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 13-13-13-15-15-17-17 cm. Switch back to circular needle size 8 mm and cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Fold the rib down on inside of garment. Fasten rib to get a double neck edge. To avoid a tight neck edge that sticks out it is important to keep the seam elastic. |
