------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. Find your size in the diagram (applies to A.4 and A.5). Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.6). INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT – from right side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the back loop. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS RIGHT – from right side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the front loop. INCREASE TIP-2: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT – wrong side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the back and purl through the front loop. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS RIGHT – wrong side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the front and purl through the back loop. KNITTING TIP: When working short rows, there will be a small hole after each turn. This hole can be closed by tightening the strand or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip the first stitch purl-wise, take the strand over the right needle and tighten well from the back (2 loops on the needle). These loops are worked together on the next row. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The piece is started back and forth, casting on stitches at the back of the neck and working the back piece top down, while increasing stitches on each side for the shoulders, which become slightly diagonal. The back piece is worked as far as the armholes. The front piece is then worked in 2 sections, knitting up stitches along 1 back shoulder, working pattern and increasing for the neckline. This is repeated on the other shoulder, the 2 front sections are joined when the neckline is finished and worked down to the armholes. The front and back pieces are joined on the same circular needle and the body worked in the round. Stitches are knitted up around the armholes for the sleeves, which are started back and forth for the sleeve cap, then finished in the round. Stitches are knitted up around the neckline and the neck worked in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. BACK PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth. Cast on 36-36-36-36-40-40-44 stitches with circular needle size 6 mm, 1 strand DROPS Alpaca Bouclé and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands). ROW 1 (wrong side): Knit 1, work A.1, purl until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work A.1, knit 1 (4 increased stitches) = 40-40-40-40-44-44-48 stitches. ROW 2 (right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 1, work A.2, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 9 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, work A.3, knit 1. ROW 3 (wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2, knit 1, work A.3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until there are 9 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, work A.2, knit 1. Work ROWS 2 and 3 a total of 10-11-11-13-14-15-16 times (20-22-22-26-28-30-32 rows worked) = 80-84-84-92-100-104-112 stitches. Now work as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Knit 1, work A.2, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 9 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, work A.3, knit 1. ROW 2 (wrong side): Knit 2 together, continue A.3 across the next 7 stitches, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until there are 9 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, work the first 7 stitches in A.2, knit 2 together = 82-86-86-94-102-106-114 stitches. Cut the strand. Place the outermost 8 stitches on each side on separate stitch holders/threads – these stitches are later used for the sleeves = 66-70-70-78-86-90-98 stitches on the needle. Insert 1 marker outermost on one side. The piece is now measured from here! Continue with stocking stitch - remember to maintain the knitting tension – until the piece measures 10-10-8-10½-10½-10-11 cm from the marker down the armhole. Now increase for the armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 2-2-4-3-3-4-4 times = 70-74-78-84-92-98-106 stitches. Work until the piece measures 12-12-13-14-15-15-16 cm, from the marker, measured along the armhole and finishing with a row from the wrong side. Cut the strand and place the stitches on a stitch holder/thread. Work the left front piece as follows: LEFT FRONT PIECE: Find the left back shoulder as follows: Lay the back piece flat, right side up, with the stitch holder towards you; left side of piece = left shoulder. Knit up stitches along the left back shoulder, starting from the right side by the neck and working towards the armhole as follows: Knit up 1 stitch in each row worked, inside the outermost stitch = 22-24-24-28-30-32-34 stitches. Insert 1 marker by the neck. All length measurements on the front piece are taken from this marker. ROW 1 (wrong side): Purl and increase 5-6-6-5-5-6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 27-30-30-33-35-38-40 stitches. ROW 2 (right side): Start at the arrow for your size in diagram A.4 and work the last 4-5-5-6-6-7-7 stitches in A.4, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, knit 1. ROW 3 (wrong side): Knit 1, work A.3, purl 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, purl 3-4-4-5-6-7-8 and work the 4-5-5-6-6-7-7 stitches in A.4. Repeat ROWS 2 and 3 until the piece measures 6-6-6-7-7-8-8 cm from the marker, finishing with a row from the wrong side. Now increase for the neckline. INCREASE FOR NECKLINE: ROW 1 (right side): Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left – remember INCREASE TIP-1, knit and continue the pattern to the end of the row. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl and continue the pattern – the increased stitch is purled. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 4-5-6-6-7-7-8 times (8-10-12-12-14-14-16 rows worked) = 31-35-36-39-42-45-48 stitches (with the next row from the right side). NOTE: As stitches are increased for the neckline, A.3 will be worked above A.4 but not until there is room for A.3 inside the 3 stocking stitches by the neckline – in sizes XS and S this happens after the neck-increases are finished, in the other sizes this happens while increasing for the neckline. In addition, the pattern is adjusted so cables are worked on the same row in the established pattern. Cut the strand and place the stitches on a stitch holder/thread and work the right front piece. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Knit up stitches along the right back shoulder, starting from the right side by the armhole and working towards the neck as follows: Knit up 1 stitch in each row worked, inside the outermost stitch = 22-24-24-28-30-32-34 stitches. Insert 1 marker by the neck. All length measurements on the front piece are taken from this marker. ROW 1 (wrong side): Purl and increase 5-6-6-5-5-6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 27-30-30-33-35-38-40 stitches. ROW 2 (right side): Knit 1, work A.2, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.2, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work the first 4-5-5-6-6-7-7 stitches in A.5, stop at the arrow for your size. ROW 3 (wrong side): Work the 4-5-5-6-6-7-7 stitches in A.5, purl 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.2, purl 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.2, knit 1. Repeat ROWS 2 and 3 until the piece measures 6-6-6-7-7-8-8 cm from the marker, finishing with a row from the wrong side. Now increase for the neckline. INCREASE FOR NECKLINE: ROW 1 (right side): Knit and continue the pattern until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the right – remember INCREASE TIP-1, knit 3. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl and continue the pattern – the increased stitch is purled. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 4-5-6-6-7-7-8 times (8-10-12-12-14-14-16 rows worked) = 31-35-36-39-42-45-48 stitches (with the next row from the right side) – NOTE: As on the left front piece, as stitches are increased for the neckline, A.2 will be worked above A.5 but not until there is room for A.2 inside the 3 stocking stitches by the neckline – in sizes XS and S this happens after the neck-increases are finished. The front pieces are now joined as follows: FRONT PIECE (joining right and left front pieces): ROW 1 (right side): Knit 1, work A.2, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.2, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.2, knit 0-2-3-4-5-6-7, cast on 17-15-13-13-15-15-15 stitches for the neckline, knit 0-2-3-4-5-6-7, work A.3, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, knit 1 = 79-85-85-91-99-105-111 stitches. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl and continue the pattern as far as the 17-15-13-13-15-15-15 cast-on stitches for the neckline, purl these stitches, AT THE SAME TIME increase 4-4-4-4-6-6-6 stitches evenly across these stitches, purl and continue the pattern to the end of the row = 83-89-89-95-105-111-117 stitches. ROW 3 (right side): Knit 1, work A.2, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.2, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.2, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.6 (start the pattern so the cables are worked on the same row as the established pattern), knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, knit 3-4-4-5-6-7-8, work A.3, knit 1. ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl and continue the pattern. Repeat ROWS 3 and 4 until the piece measures 25-27-26-28-29-30-31 cm from the marker. Now increase for the armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit and work pattern until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl and continue the pattern – the increased stitches are purled. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 1-1-3-2-2-3-3 times = 85-91-95-99-109-117-123 stitches. Work until the piece measures 26-28-29-30-31-33-34 cm, from the marker, finishing with a row from the wrong side. Join the front and back pieces as follows. The piece is now measured from here! BODY: Work the 85-91-95-99-109-117-123 stitches from the front piece, cast on 2-2-2-2-2-4-4 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work the 70-74-78-84-92-98-106 stitches from the back piece, cast on 2-2-2-2-2-4-4 stitches (mid-under the sleeve) = 159-169-177-187-205-223-237 stitches. Continue in the round, working pattern as before across the middle 81-87-87-93-103-109-115 stitches on the front piece and stocking stitch across the other stitches. Work until the piece measures 26-26-27-27-28-28-29 cm from the armhole – adjusting so you have worked 2 to 4 rounds after a round of cables. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase approx. 15-15-17-21-23-23-31 stitches evenly on the first round – NOTE: The rib should match the pattern on the front piece; to attain this you need to decrease 1 stitch across each repeat of the cables in all sizes. In addition, in sizes S, M, XL and XXXL you need to increase 1 stitch in each stocking stitch section between the cables – the other increases are worked in the stocking stitch sections on each side of the front and back pieces = approx. 174-184-194-208-228-246-268 stitches. When the rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7-7 cm, cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm, measured from the shoulder, innermost by the neckline. SLEEVES: Lay the piece flat and insert 1 marker at the top of the armhole = mid-top of shoulder (NOTE! mid-top of shoulder is not the knitted-up row on the front piece but 7 to 9 cm down the front piece). Knit up stitches around the armhole, using circular needle size 4.5 mm. Start in the middle of the cast-on stitches under the sleeve and knit up 52-54-56-60-64-68-70 stitches (including the 8 stitches on the thread), adjusting so there are 2 more stitches on the back piece than on the front piece (because the cables tighten the piece slightly). Change to circular needle size 6 mm. Work stocking stitch back and forth, continuing A.3 (right sleeve)/A.4 (left sleeve). In addition, work short rows across the sleeve cap to give a better shape, starting mid-under the sleeve as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Count how many stitches there are from the marker inserted mid on top of shoulder and down past the cable, start mid under the sleeve and knit this number of stiches past the marker mid on top of shoulder, turn (this avoids turning in the middle of the cable) – read KNITTING TIP. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl the same number of stitches past the marker mid on top of shoulder on the other side, turn. ROW 3 (right side): Work to 2 stitches past the previous turn, turn. ROW 4 (wrong side): Work to 2 stitches past the previous turn, turn. Repeat ROWS 3 and 4 until you have turned a total of 6-8-10-6-6-8-8 times (3-4-5-3-3-4-4 turns each side including the first turn – last row from the wrong side). AFTER THE LAST TURN: After working row 4 for the last time, turn and work back from the right side to the beginning of the round (mid-under the sleeve). Insert 1 marker-thread mid-under the sleeve, which is used when decreasing under the sleeve. Allow the marker-thread to follow your work onwards. Continue stocking stitch and A.3/A.4 in the round, AT THE SAME TIME decrease as follows -read DECREASE TIP: When the sleeve measures 2 cm mid-under the sleeve, decrease 2 stitches every 2 cm a total of 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 times = 48-50-52-56-58-62-64 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 45-44-45-43-41-39-38 cm from the marker. Change to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 8-8-8-8-10-10-10 stitches evenly on the first round (1 stitch must be increased in the middle of the cable so the rib matches the pattern) = 56-58-60-64-68-72-74 stitches. When the rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7-7 cm, cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 50-50-51-49-47-46-45 cm from the marker. NECK: Use circular needle size 4.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). Start from the right side, on one shoulder-line and knit up approx. 80-82-84-86-100-100-110 stitches inside 1 stitch around the neck. Knit 1 round and adjust the stitch count if necessary, so it is divisible by 2. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1 – adjusting so the rib matches the pattern mid-front) for 11-11-12-12-12-13-13 cm. Cast off with rib. |
