---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work at the end of crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 treble crochet/double crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of every row with double crochets work 1 chain stitch. This chain stitch replaces first double crochet. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch on round. At the beginning of every round with treble crochets work 3 chain stitches. These chain stitches replace first treble crochet. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round. Turn heel every row with 1 chain stitch (this chain stitch does not replace first double crochet but is in addition). DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 double crochet/treble crochet as follows: Work 1 double crochet/treble crochet but wait with last yarn over and pull through (= 2 loops on hook), then work next double crochet/treble crochet but on last pull through, pull thread through all 3 loops on hook - 1 double crochet/ treble crochet decreased. HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (right side): Work 21-22-24 double crochets, 7-8-8 double crochets now remain on row, decrease 1 double crochet - read DECREASE TIP = 22-23-25 double crochets. Turn piece. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work 15-15-17 double crochets, 7-8-8 double crochets now remain on row, decrease 1 double crochet = 16-16-18 double crochets. Turn piece. ROW 3 (right side): Work 15-15-17 double crochets. Decrease 1 double crochet, i.e. work last double crochet on row together with first double crochet on first row (the one with with 28-30-32 double crochets) = 16-16-18 double crochets. Turn piece. ROW 4 (wrong side): Work 15-15-17 double crochets. Decrease 1 double crochet, i.e. work last double crochet on row together with first double crochet on last row (the one with 21-22-24 double crochets) = 16-16-18 double crochets. Turn piece. ROW 5 (right side): Work 15-15-17 double crochets. Decrease 1 double crochet, i.e. work last double crochet on row together with first double crochet on first row = 16-16-18 double crochets. Turn piece. Repeat alternately 4th and 5th row 4 more times, then work 4th row one more time i.e. until all the 7-8-8 double crochet on each side of the 16-16-18 middle double crochet on heel have been worked together = 16-16-18 double crochets in total on row. Cut the yarn and pull strands through the last stitch on hook. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. ASSEMBLY TIP: Use a thin elastic sewing yarn that can be sewn around the leg or an elastic that can be basted through stitches around the leg. This will keep the shape better. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- ANCLE SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked in the round, from leg down to toe. Work a flounce on the leg at the end. SOCK: Work 75-80-85 CHAIN STITCHES - read explanation above, on hook size 2.5 mm with DROPS Fabel. Form a chain stitch ring by working 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch worked. ROUND 1: Read CROCHET INFO. Work 3 chain stitches (= 1 treble crochet), 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 chain stitches, skip 1 chain stitch, * 1 treble crochet in each of the 4 next chain stitches, skip 1 chain stitch *, work from *-* the entire round, and finish with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round = 60-64-68 treble crochets. Work 5 rounds more rounds with 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet. Then work heel and foot as explained below. HEEL AND FOOT: Work 1 double crochet in each of the first 28-30-32 treble crochets on round = 28-30-32 heel stitches. Now continue with double crochet back and forth over heel stitches until heel measures approx. 6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker when working – measure piece from this marker later. Then decrease for heel - read HEEL DECREASE. After heel decreases work as follows: Begin mid under foot and fasten strand with 1 slip stitch in the middle of the 16-16-18 double crochets from heel. Work 1 treble crochet in each of the 8-8-9 double crochets on heel, work 16-16-17 treble crochets along the side of heel, 1 treble crochet in each of the 32-34-36 treble crochets on top of foot, 16-16-17 treble crochets along the other side of heel, and 1 treble crochet in each of the last 8-8-9 double crochets on heel = 80-82-88 treble crochets on round. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 32-34-36 treble crochets on top of foot. Then work in the round with treble crochets - AT THE SAME TIME decrease 1 treble crochet on each side of the 32-34-36 treble crochets on top of foot - read DECREASE TIP, i.e. work the last 2 treble crochet before first marker on top of foot together, and work the first 2 treble crochets after last marker on top of foot together. Decrease like this every round 12-11-12 times in total = 56-60-64 treble crochets. Work until piece measures 18-19-20 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. Approx. 4-5-6 cm remain until finished measurements, try the sock on and work to desired length before decreasing for toes as explained below. TOE: Work 1 round with 1 double crochet in every treble crochet the entire round = 56-60-64 double crochets. Insert 1 marker in a double crochet in each side of sock so that there are 27-29-31 double crochets between stitches with markers both on top of foot and under foot. Then work in the round with double crochets - AT THE SAME TIME decrease 2 double crochets in each side as follows: Work until 1 double crochet remain before double crochet with marker, work 1 double crochet, but wait with last yarn over and pull through (= 2 loops on hook), then work double crochet with marker, but wait with last yarn over and pull through (= 3 loops on hook), work 1 double crochet in next double crochet, and pull last yarn over through all 4 loops on hook. 2 double crochets have been decreased - repeat at next marker. Decrease like this on every other round a total of 2-5-7 times in each side and then on every round 8-6-5 time times in each side = 16 double crochets. Place toe double and sew together opening mid front. Cut and fasten the yarn. The sock measures approx. 22-24-26 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. Work the other sock the same way. FLOUNCE: Begin mid back on leg with 1 slip stitch in first stitch on round, work A.1, then work A.2 around the leg. Continue like this until A.1 and A.2 have been worked vertically. Cut and fasten the yarn. ASSEMBLY: Sew or baste an elastic thread through stitches around the leg, in first round from beginning of leg. |
