Bon tricot!

Instructions for YOKE: I don't understand the A.1 instructions. On row 11, is it "knit 2 together, then between 2 stitches make 1 yarn over"?

Dear Mrs Slaughter, on row 11 in A.1 work: (knit 2 together, make 1 yarn over) repeat from (to). Happy knitting!

27.05.2021 - 16:48DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kristy, tension is worked with the larger needles, when you work stocking stitch, ie with needle size 5,5 mm. Happy knitting!

16.09.2020 - 09:26DROPS Design answered:

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.2 and A.3). INCREASE TIP-1 (evenly): To calculate how to increase/decrease evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 85 stitches) , and divide stitches by number of increases/decreases to be done (e.g. 11) = 7.7. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately approx. every 7th and 8th stitch. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. INCREASE TIP-2 (applies to sides of body): Work until 2 stitches remain before marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread is in the middle of these stitches), 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. DECREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread and knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. CAST-OFF TIP: To avoid a tight cast-off edge you may use a larger needle. If this also is too tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. every 5th stitch and cast off these as regular stitches. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle, top down. Then divide yoke into body and sleeves and continue in the round on body. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. NECK EDGE: Cast on 85-90-90-95-100-105 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with Paris. Knit 1 round. Then work rib = knit 3/purl 2. Continue rib like this for 3 cm. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm. Insert 1 marker after rib at the beginning of round mid back, measure yoke from this marker! YOKE: Work A.1 in the round, at the same time increase evenly – read INCREASE TIP-1, as follows: On 1st round increase 11-12-18-19-20-21 stitches = 96-102-108-114-120-126 stitches. On 13th round increase 14-18-22-21-20-24 stitches = 110-120-130-135-140-150 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When entire A.1 has been worked vertically, switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Now work pattern as follows (choose diagram for your size): * A.2 over 1 stitch, A.3 over the next 4 stitches *, work from *-* 22-24-26-27-28-30 times in total on round. When diagrams have been worked vertically, there are 198-216-234-270-280-300 stitches on round. Continue with knit over knit and purl over purl until piece measures 14-15-16-17-18-19 cm from marker after rib. Then continue in stocking stitch until finished measurements. When piece measures 16-17-18-20-21-22 cm from marker after rib, increase 8-8-10-4-8-16 stitches evenly = 206-224-244-274-288-316 stitches. Then continue in stocking stitch until piece measures 18-20-22-24-26-28 cm from marker after rib. Now divide piece for body and sleeves. Work next round as follows: Work the first 29-32-34-38-42-47 stitches (= half back piece), insert the next 45-48-53-60-60-64 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve and cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side under sleeve), work the next 58-64-69-77-84-94 stitches (= front piece), slip the next 45-48-53-60-60-64 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve and cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side under sleeves), work the remaining 29-32-35-39-42-47 stitches (= half back piece). Now finish body and sleeves separately. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! BODY: = 128-140-154-170-188-208 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the new 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches cast on in each side (= 3-3-4-4-5-5 new stitches on each side of marker thread in each side). There are 64-70-77-85-94-104 stitches between marker threads on back piece and front piece. Move the marker threads upwards when working; they should be used for increase later in the sides. Continue in the round with stocking stitch on circular needle size 5.5 mm. When piece measures 4 cm from division, increase 1 stitch on each side of marker threads - read INCREASE TIP-2. Increase like this approx. every 10 cm 3 times in total = 140-152-166-182-200-220 stitches. When piece measures 27 cm from division, increase 20-23-24-28-30-35 stitches = 160-175-190-210-230-255 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. Work rib (knit 3/purl 2) in the round for 4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl - read CAST-OFF TIP. Jumper measures approx. 53-55-57-59-61-63 cm from shoulder and down. SLEEVES: Slip the 45-48-53-60-60-64 stitches from stitch holder in one side back on a short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5.5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches under sleeve = 51-54-61-68-70-74 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the new stitches cast on in the side under the sleeve (= 3-3-4-4-5-5 new stitches on each side of marker thread). Move the marker thread upwards when working; they should be used for decrease later in the sides. When sleeve measures 4 cm, decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread under sleeve - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this approx. every 5-4-3-2-2-1½ cm 7-8-10-13-13-15 times in total = 37-38-41-42-44-44 stitches. When piece measures 35-33-32-31-29-27 cm – or work until desired length (approx. 5 cm remain until finished length), knit 1 round while increasing 3-2-4-3-1-6 stitches evenly = 40-40-45-45-45-50 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm. Work rib (knit 3/purl 2) in the round for 5 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl - remember CAST-OFF TIP. The entire sleeve measures approx. 40-38-37-36-34-32 cm. Work the other sleeve the same way. |
