I love all your pretty patterns, but I can't read any of them with the charts. Are any of them written in just a pattern form, without charts? You have so many I'd like to knit, but I can't figure any of them out. Thank you.

Dear Mrs Fischer, maybe this lesson could help you understanding how to read knitting diagrams. Hope it will help, happy knitting!

Hi Helena, When A.1A - A.3A have been worked, work A.1B over A.1A, A.2B over A.2A and A.3B over A.3A. When A.1B - A.3B have been worked, repeat A.1A - A.3A again, from row marked with arrow. Happy knitting!

Mvh DROPS Design

INFORMATION FOR PATTERN: GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. ---------------------------------------------------------- STOLE: Worked back and forth on circular needle in 2 parts and sewn together mid back. Cast on 79 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 strand Alpaca and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above. Work pattern as follows from right side: 3 stitches in garter stitch, A.1 (= 10 stitches), A.2 (= 18 stitches) 3 times in width, A.3 (= 9 stitches), 3 stitches in garter stitch (on first row 8 stitches are decreased) = 71 stitches. Continue pattern back and forth like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1A - A.3A have been worked, work A.1B over A.1A, A.2B over A.2A and A.3B over A.3A. When A.1B - A.3B have been worked, repeat A.1A - A.3A again, from row marked with arrow. Work 1 ridge over all stitches. Cast off. Make sure that the cast-off edge is not too tight. Piece measures approx. 76 cm. Knit another part the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the two parts with grafting/kitchener stitches inside cast-off edge so that there are 2 ridges in the middle of stole. Make sure that to avoid a tight seam. |
