When knitting the top of the foot, there are 42 stitches. The chart A.1 is 11 stitches. How am I to do the chart when it is 2 stitches more than I have for the top of the foot? Doing the chart 4 times = 44 stitches.
18.02.2020 - 01:06DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Tabar, when you keep the first 24 sts on needle for heel, you have: 2 repeats (= 22 sts) + the first 2 stitches on next repeat, so that the 42 stitches on top of foot starts with P1 (= the 3rd st in first A.1) and the next 8 sts (= 9 sts for this repeat), repeat the 11 stitches in A.1 a total of 3 times = 42 sts and top of foot begins with P1 (3rd st in A.1) and ends with P1 (last st in A.1), lace pattern is so symetrical on the top of foot. Happy knitting!

Ich habe diese Socken gestrickt. Ein sehr schönes Muster. Die Söckchen passen nach meiner Erfahrung jedoch besser, wenn sie mit einem Mustersatz weniger gestrickt sind.

PATTERN: See diagram A.1 HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): Work until 6-6-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 6-6-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 5-5-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 5-5-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 st less before each dec until there are 12-14-14 sts on needle. ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 68-68-72 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Fabel. Work 1 round in stocking st. Continue in rib = K 2/P 2 for 4 cm. Then work 1 round in stocking st, AT THE SAME TIME dec 2-2-6 sts evenly = 66-66-66 sts. Then work A.1 over all sts (= 6 repetitions of A.1 in width) REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 11-12-13 cm, keep the first 24-24-24 sts on needle for heel and slip the last 42-42-42 sts on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot). Work in stocking st back and forth over heel sts for 5-5½-6 cm, AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row adjust no of sts to 22-24-26. Insert 1 marker in the piece. Then work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above. After heel dec, pick up 11-11-12 sts on each side of heel and slip the 42 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 76-78-80 sts. Insert 1 marker on each side of the middle 42 sts on upper foot. Continue with A.1 as before over the sts on top of foot and in stocking st over sts under foot – AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K the 2 last sts before first marker on top of foot tog and K the first 2 sts after last marker on top of foot twisted tog. Repeat dec every other round 8 times in total = 60-62-64 sts. Work until piece measures 18-19-21 cm from marker on heel (= 4-5-6 cm remain). Insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 30-31-32 sts both on top of foot and under foot. Continue working stocking st while AT THE SAME TIME dec for toes on each side of both markers as follows: Before marker: K 2 tog. After marker: K 2 twisted tog. Continue dec like this in each side every other round 4-7-9 times in total and then every round 6-4-3 times = 20-18-16 sts. On next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Knit another sock. |
