What are you supposed to do with the edge stitch? Knit? Purl? Slip it at the beginning of the row? Slip it at the end of the row? Knitwise? Purlwise?

Dear Kate, this is an old pattern of ours, and no particular way is given. Generally, DROPS patterns use garter stitch edge stitches (knitted every row), but you can also use the slip the last stitch and knit the first stitch for the edges that will be seen, if you prefer. Happy crafting!

The diagram doesn't come larger than this over the internet. Maybe it's easier for you with the printed books that will be released in mid February... Remember, the shops are there to help you if you buy original Garnstudio yarn :-)

Fint snitt. enkel och inte lika gullipluttig som en del andra boleros. perfekt över de flesta klänningar. snygg till jeans också.

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows. Berry Pattern: See diagram M.1. Note! First row in diagram is worked from WS. Increasing tip: Because of the inc, number of sts will not always fit M.1. P sts not fitting into pattern from RS and K them from WS until there are enough sts (= 4 sts) for a new repeat of M.1. Decreasing tip-1: Because of the dec, number of sts will not always fit M.1. P sts not fitting into pattern from RS and K them from WS. Decreasing tip-2 (applies to neckline): Make all dec from RS inside 5 garter sts. Dec as follows before/after 5 sts: P2 tog. Buttonhole: Make buttonholes on right front piece. 1 buttonhole = cast off 3rd st from mid front, cast on 1 new st on return row. Make buttonholes when piece measures: 3 and 6 cm for all sizes. Back piece: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 50-58-66-74-82-90 sts (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 6 mm in Vienna or Melody and work garter st – see above. When piece measures 10 cm, work 1 row from RS, at the same time inc 8 sts evenly on row = 58-66-74-82-90-98 sts. Now work next row as follows from WS: 1 edge st, M.1 on the next 56-64-72-80-88-96 sts, 1 edge st. Remember the knitting tension. When piece measures 13 cm inc 1 st each side on every 1.5-1.5-2-2-2.5-2.5 cm a total of 4 times – see Increasing tip = 66-74-82-90-98-106 sts. When piece measures 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm work 2 rows garter st on the outermost 7-9-11-13-15-17 sts each side (work remaining sts as before) and now cast off 3-5-7-9-11-13 sts each side for armhole – see Decreasing tip-1 = 60-64-68-72-76-80 sts. Continue in pattern with 4 garter sts each side. When piece measures 26-29-30-31-34-36 cm inc 1 st each side for wide shoulder inside 4 garter sts. Size S: repeat the inc when piece measures 28 and 30 cm. Size M-L-XL: repeat the inc when piece measures 35 cm Size XXL – XXXL: Continue without further inc. = 66-68-72-76-78-82 sts. When piece measures 37-39-41-43-45-47 cm work garter st on the middle 26-28-30-30-32-34 sts and cast off the middle 14-16-18-18-20-22 sts for neck when piece measures 38-40-42-44-46-48 cm. On next row dec 1 st on neckline = 25-25-26-28-28-29 sts left on each shoulder. Continue in pattern with 5 garter sts towards neckline and cast off loosely when piece measures 40-42-44-46-48-50 cm. Left front piece: Cast on 6-10-14-14-18-22 sts (incl 1 edge st at side and 5 front band sts towards mid front) on needle size 6 mm in Vienna or Melody. Work garter st, at the same time cast on 4 new sts towards mid front on every other row a total of 6-6-6-7-7-7 times = 30-34-38-42-46-50 sts. When piece measures 10 cm on the longer side, work 1 row from RS, at the same time inc 4 sts evenly on row = 34-38-42-46-50-54 sts. Now work next row as follows from WS: 5 garter sts (front band), M.1 on the next 28-32-36-40-44-48 sts, 1 edge st. When piece measures 11 cm dec to shape the neckline as follows – see Decreasing tip-1 and -2: 1 st on every 3 cm a total of 3-3-2-2-2-1 times and on every 2 cm a total of 10-11-13-13-14-16 times. At the same time when piece measures 13 cm inc at side as described for back piece. At the same time when piece measures 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm work 2 rows garter st on the outermost 7-9-11-13-15-17 sts at side (work remaining st as before) and dec for armhole as described for back piece. Continue in pattern with 4 garter sts at side. At the same time when piece measures 26-29-30-31-34-36 cm inc for wide shoulder as described for back piece. After all dec and inc are complete = 25-25-26-28-28-29 sts left on shoulder. Cast off loosely when piece measures 40-42-44-46-48-50 cm. Right front piece: Cast on and work like left front piece, but mirrored. Remember buttonholes! Assembly: Sew shoulder seams and sew side seam inside 1 edge st. Sew on buttons. |
