Pattern: See diagram M.1 (A, B and C). Stripes: See Figure 1. Rib: * K2, P2 *, repeat *-*. Decreasing tips: Crochet 1 tr/dc but wait with last ‘pull through’ (= 2 sts on hook), crochet following tr/dc but on last ‘pull through’ pull the yarn through all sts on hook. Front and Back piece: Knit piece back and forth from mid front. Cast on 104 sts (incl 1 edge st each side towards mid front) on circular needle size 8 mm with dark grey. Place 1 marking thread after 26 sts and 1 marking thread after 78 sts (= sides). Knit next row like this (1st row = RS): 1 edge st, rib over the following 100 sts – see explanation above, finish with K2 and 1 edge st. Continue like this, but after 2 rows change to medium grey. When rib measures 8 cm continue in stocking sts. At the same time when piece measures 13 cm inc 1 st each side of back piece (i.e. inc in st after 1st marking thread and in st before 2nd marking thread) = 106 sts. When piece measures 24 cm cast off all sts loosely. Shoulder piece: Crochet 97 dc with hook 7 mm and dark grey along cast off edge on front and back piece. Place 2 new marking threads in piece as follows: 1 marking thread after 24 dc and 1 marking thread after 73 dc (= sides). Crochet stripes according to Fig. 1 and pattern according to diagram M.1. Start to crochet following 2nd row as follows: M.1C, M.1B over the following 92 dc and finish with M.1A. At the same time when the crocheted part measures approx 13 cm (adjust so that next row is from RS) divide piece for armholes and each part is crocheted separately. Cut thread. Back piece: Start one st after marking thread in side and continue over back piece until one st remains before marking thread in the other side = 47 sts. Continue with stripes according to Fig.1 and pattern as before. Continue like this until the crocheted part measures approx 32 cm. Now crochet over 13 sts each side (i.e. 21 center sts are not crocheted = neck). When piece measures 34 cm cut and fasten thread. Right front piece: Continue with stripes according to Fig.1 and pattern as before until 4 sts remains before marking thread. Crochet M.1C so that there is 1 st rem before marking thread to armhole (this st are not to be crocheted again) = 23 sts. Continue like this until the crocheted part measures 30 cm. Next row only crochet over the 14 sts towards side (i.e. 9 sts towards mid front are not crocheted = neck). On next row dec 1 st towards mid front – read dec.tip above = 13 sts left on shoulder. Crochet until crochet part measures 34 cm. Cut and fasten thread. Left front piece: Crochet as right front piece but reversed, i.e. crochet M.1B until 3 sts remains before marking thread. Crochet M.1A so that there is 1 st rem for armhole. Sleeve: Knit in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 28 sts distributed on double pointed needles size 8 mm with dark grey. Knit rib – see explanation above. After 2 rows change to medium grey. When rib measures 6 cm continue in stocking sts. At the same time when piece measures 8 cm inc 2 sts mid under sleeve on every 5½ cm a total of 8 times = 44 sts. When piece measures 51 cm cast off 18 sts mid under sleeve. Cast off 6 sts each side on following two rows one time. Now piece measures 54 cm and cast off the remaining sts loosely. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Crochet an edge around armhole with hook size 7 mm and medium grey as follows: start to crochet 1 dc in edge mid under sleeve, then crochet * 1 ch, skip approx 1 cm, 1 dc in following st *, repeat *-* around armhole and end with 1 sl st in 1st dc in the beg of row = approx 24 dc. Sew in sleeves underneath the crocheted edge. Collar: Crochet approx 52 dc with hook size 7 mm around the neckline. Crochet stripes according to Fig 1. Crochet dc on every row. Continue until collar measures approx 10 cm. Cut and fasten thread. Front band: Crochet front band along both front pieces towards mid front with hook size 7 mm and dark grey. Along the knitted part crochet in edge sts and along the crocheted part crochet in the outermost sts. Crochet 1 dc, * 1 ch, skip approx 1 cm, 1 dc in following st * repeat *-*. Crochet 2 rows this way. Then crochet 1 row with 1 sl st in every dc/ch. Start at the bottom of right front piece, up along front band, around the collar and down along front band on left front piece. Sew on the buttons on left front band. Place top button approx 2 cm below neckline and the bottom one approx 10 cm from bottom edge. Remaining 4 buttons divides evenly along front band and sew on. Button the cardigan in the crocheted edge along the right front band. |
