Hi, for the sleeves I've followed the pattern and increased till I had 104 sts however, the width of the sleeve cap is smaller than the armhole. When working on the body, I followed the pattern and have gotten 30cm as shown in the measurements but for the sleeve cap, that isn't case. The sleeve cap I've made measures 24.5 cm in width, and my tension has been consistent throughout the making of it. Is there any way to fix this?

Dear Arisha, after you have increased to 64 sts continue to 38 cm from cast on edge, then when sleeve measures 57 cm you will cast off for sleeve cap which should be 5 cm high, then the whole circumference on top of sleeve will fit armhole. Happy knitting!

Hi sorry, I had another question, when it says to cast off 8 stitches mid under arm, is that casting off 4 at the beginning of the round and then four at the end of the round?? Thanks so much!

Dear Arisha, you cast off 4-4 stitches both side of the mid-undersleeve, but, you don't have to cut your yarn, if you cast off the last 4 stitches on the round, then the first 4 stitche, and then coninue the work back and forth. Happy Knitting!

Hi, I'm working on the sleeve on double pointed needles and was wondering where exactly the mid under arm would be? Is it from the 26th or the 27th stitch? Because I have an even number of stitches on my needles (52 stitches). Thanks so much!
08.01.2025 - 17:17DROPS Design answered:
Hi Arisha, Mid under the sleeve is the beginning of the round, so when you increase, make 1 yarn over at the beginning of the round and make 1 yarn over at the end of the round. Happy knitting!

The pattern says in the beginning to inc 44 stitches evenly and work M.1. but I'm a bit confused as to when exactly I should start increasing. Should I begin increasing during the ribbing or after when I'm working M.1? Thank you :)
07.06.2024 - 18:39DROPS Design answered:
Hi Leila, make increases in a round after ribbing and before you start working M1. Happy knitting!

Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.2. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS. Rib: *K2, P2*, repeat from *-*. Front and back piece: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 156-160-164 sts on needle size 3.5 mm with red/olive and work 3 cm Rib, but after 1 round change to pink/blue. Change to needle size 5, at the same time inc 36-44-52 sts evenly = 192-204-216 sts. Work M.1 and then complete piece in M.2. Remember the knitting tension! At the same time when piece measures 24-25-26 cm work next round as follows: 92-98-104 sts = front piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole, 92-98-104 sts = back piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole. Now complete front and back pieces separately. Front piece: = 92-98-104 sts. Dec to shape the armhole on every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1-3-4 times = 86-88-92 sts. When piece measures 49-50-51 cm cast off the middle 28-28-28 sts for neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times. Cast off when piece measures 54-55-56 cm. Back piece: = 92-98-104 sts. Dec for armhole as described for front piece = 86-88-92 sts. When piece measures 52-53-54 cm cast off the middle 38-38-38 sts for neck and dec 1 st on neckline on next row Cast off as described for front piece. Sleeve: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 36-36-40 sts on double pointed needle size 3.5 mm with red/olive and work 3 cm Rib, but after 1 round change to pink/blue. Change to needle size 5 mm and work M.1, at the same time inc inc 14-16-12 sts evenly on first round = 50-52-52 sts. At the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm on every 3rd and 4th round alternately a total of 26-25-26 times = 102-102-104 sts. After M.1 continue in pink/blue until piece measures 38-38-38 cm and now complete piece in M.2. When piece measures 47-47-47 cm cast off 8 sts mid under arm and complete piece back and forth on needle. Dec to shape the sleeve cap on every other row 6 sts 4 times and cast off. Piece measures approx 52-52-52 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 92 to 96 sts round neckline on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm with pink/blue and work 6 rounds stocking st, 2 rounds red/olive stocking st, work next round as follows: * K2 tog, 1 YO *(= folding edge), 8 rounds red/olive stocking st, cast off. Fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Set in sleeves, sew in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. |
