------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble/double crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams are read from right to left when working from the right side and left to right when working from the wrong side. CROCHET INFORMATION (for yoke and body): Rows of treble crochets begin with 3 chain stitches which are in addition to the other stitches. These stitches are not included in the stitch counts and are not worked at the end of the next row. Rows of double crochets begin with 1 chain stitch which is in addition to the other stitches. These stitches are not included in the stitch counts and are not worked at the end of the next row. CROCHET INFORMATION (for sleeves): The sleeves are worked in the round alternately from the right and wrong side. Rounds of treble crochets begin with 3 chain stitches which replace the first treble crochet. Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch. Turn. Rounds of double crochets begin with 1 chain stitch which replaces the first double crochet. Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Turn. SLEEVE TIP: When crocheting up stitches under the sleeve, you can be left with small holes in the transitions between the body and sleeve. These holes can be closed by working 2 treble/double crochets together in the transitions as follows: Work 1 treble/double crochet in the last chain stitch before the sleeve-stitches but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through, work 1 treble/double crochet around the stitch on the body and pull the yarn over through all loops on the hook. Work in the same way in the other transition by working 1 treble/double crochet around the stitch on the body but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through, work 1 treble/double crochet in the first chain stitch on the sleeve and pull the yarn over through all loops on the hook. DECREASE TIP: Decrease on each side of 2 stitches mid-under the sleeve: Work 3 chain stitches (these replace the first treble crochet), work 2 treble crochets together as follows: * Make 1 yarn over, insert the hook through the next stitch, pick up the strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook *, work from *-* 1 more time, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (1 stitch decreased). Work as before until there are 3 treble crochets left, work 2 treble crochets together as before (1 stitch decreased), work 1 treble crochet in the last stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET– SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The yoke is worked back and forth top down, while increasing for raglan. When the yoke is finished it is divided for the body and sleeves. The body is finished back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round, alternately from the right and wrong side to maintain the texture from the body. The neck is worked back and forth to finish. YOKE: Use crochet hook size 3 mm and DROPS Alpaca or DROPS Nord. Work 120-124-132-136-144-148-156 CHAIN STITCHES – see explanation above. Work PATTERN back and forth as follows (first row from the right side): Read CROCHET INFORMATION. Begin by working 3 chain stitches then continue starting in the 4th chain stitch from the hook as follows: Work A.1 across the next 20-21-23-22-24-25-27 stitches (= front piece), A.2 in the next stitch (= raglan), A.1 across the next 24-24-24-28-28-28-28 stitches (= sleeve), A.2 in the next stitch (= raglan), A.1 across the next 28-30-34-32-36-38-42 stitches (= back piece), A.2 in the next stitch (= raglan), A.1 across the next 24-24-24-28-28-28-28 stitches (= sleeve), A.2 in the next stitch (= raglan), A.1 across the next 20-21-23-22-24-25-27 stitches. You have increased 4 stitches; there are 124-128-136-140-148-152-160 treble crochets and 4 chain-spaces on the row. The stitches are divided as follows between the chain-spaces: 26-26-26-30-30-30-30 stitches on each sleeve, 30-32-36-34-38-40-44 stitches on the back piece and 21-22-24-23-25-26-28 stitches on each front piece. Continue A.1 and A.2, increasing 8 stitches on each row. When A.2 is finished (6 rows) there are 164-168-176-180-188-192-200 stitches and 4 chain-spaces. Repeat the last 2 rows (= A.x) until you have worked a total of 27-30-31-34-37-41-43 rows from the cast-on edge. There are 332-360-376-404-436-472-496 stitches and 4 chain-spaces and the piece measures approx. 14-16-16-18-19-22-23 cm from the cast-on edge. The stitches are divided as follows between the chain-spaces: 78-84-86-96-102-110-114 stitches on each sleeve, 82-90-96-100-110-120-128 stitches on the back piece and 47-51-54-56-61-66-70 stitches on each front piece. Continue as before with alternate rows of double and treble crochets but without increasing. AT THE SAME TIME on the first row, work around each chain-space as follows to close the holes: Work 2 double/treble crochets around the chain-space (i.e., each chain-space is replaced by 2 double/treble crochets) = 340-368-384-412-444-480-504 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 18-19-20-21-22-24-26 cm from the cast-on edge. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing, the raglan-lines will end up inside the front and back pieces. Work as before across the first 56-61-63-67-72-79-84 stitches (= front piece), skip the next 64-68-72-78-84-88-90 stitches (= sleeve), work 8-8-10-12-16-18-20 chain stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work 100-110-114-122-132-146-156 stitches (= back piece), skip the next 64-68-72-78-84-88-90 stitches (= sleeve), work 8-8-10-12-16-18-20 chain stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work the last 56-61-63-67-72-79-84 stitches as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 228-248-260-280-308-340-364 stitches. Continue as before (with 1 double/treble crochet worked in each of the 8-8-10-12-16-18-20 chain stitches under the sleeves) until the piece measures 45-47-49-50-52-54-56 cm from the cast-on edge mid-back. Finish after a row of treble crochets. Cut the strand, pull it through the stitch, tighten and fasten well. The jacket measures approx. 45-47-49-50-52-54-56 cm from mid-back and 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Read CROCHET INFORMATION and read SLEEVE TIP in explanations above. Make sure you start correctly from the right or wrong side to get the same texture as for the body. Begin in the middle of the 8-8-10-12-16-18-20 chain stitches under one sleeve and work double/treble crochets in each stitch/chain stitch. There are 72-76-82-90-100-106-110 stitches. Continue double/treble crochets as before. AT THE SAME TIME, after 2 cm and with the next round a round of treble crochets, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease 2 stitches every 2 cm 1-1-2-4-7-7-7 times = 70-74-78-82-86-92-96 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 49-49-48-48-47-46-44 cm from the division, finishing after a round of treble crochets. Cut and fasten the strand. NECK: Use crochet hook size 3 mm and DROPS Alpaca or DROPS Nord. Start from the right side, outermost on the right front piece, fasten the strand with 1 slip stitch. Start on row 1 in the diagrams and work around the chain stitches on the cast-on edge (i.e., between the stitches from row 1 on the yoke). Work A.1, then work treble crochets while working 2 treble crochets together across each raglan-line (= 4 treble crochets decreased) = 116-120-128-132-140-144-152 treble crochets. Work the next row in A.1 and 1 double crochet in each treble crochet to end of row. Cut the strand, pull it through the stitch, tighten and fasten well. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons onto the left band. The buttons are buttoned through 2 treble crochets on the right band. The first button is positioned 1 to 2 cm from the neck-edge, the last button 5 cm up from the bottom edge. Divide the remaining buttons evenly between these 2. |
