Buon lavoro!

Tere, Leidsin mustris vea. Kohe kehaosa alguses on kirjas “…koo 3 ringi parempidises koes. Ma tegin nagu eesti keeles kirjas 3 ringi ja siis murdejoon. Nii jäi mul alumine osa üles rulluma.

I currently working this pattern and was doing a read through, wondered why the sleeve length is shorter in the larger sizes (making a size XL). At first I figured it was to make the split in the sleeve longer, but then I realised the overall length is also shorter. Any clarity would be much appreciated

Hi Amanda, The sleeve lengths are shorter in the larger sizes due to longer yoke and wider shoulder measurements. Happy crafting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked in the round, bottom up, with pattern on the front and stocking stitch on the back. Stitches are cast off for the armholes and the front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, bottom up. The piece is sewn together and the neck worked to finish. BODY: Cast on 156-168-184-200-220-240 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and work stocking stitch in the round for 3 cm. Purl 1 round (folding edge), then work stocking stitch again for 3 cm. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round and 1 marker after 78-84-92-100-110-120 stitches (sides). Allow the markers to follow your work onwards. Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Work the first round in stocking stitch as follows: work the first 17-20-20-24-25-30 stitches, increase 5-5-7-7-9-9 stitches over the next 44-44-52-52-60-60 stitches, work to the end of the round. There are 83-89-99-107-119-129 stitches on the front piece and 78-84-92-100-110-120 stitches on the back piece (161-173-191-207-229-249 stitches in total). Work the next round as follows: Knit 17-20-20-24-25-30, work A.1, A.2 3-3-4-4-5-5 times, A.3, A.4, knit to the end of the round. Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 35-36-37-38-39-40 cm from the folding edge, cast off for the armholes as follows on the next odd round in the diagrams: Start 1-2-4-4-7-9 stitches before the marker at the beginning of the round, cast off 2-4-8-8-14-18 stitches, work as before until there are 1-2-4-4-7-9 stitches left before the second marker, cast off 2-4-8-8-14-18 stitches and knit to the end of the round. Place the 81-85-91-99-105-111 stitches on the front piece on a thread or extra needle and work the back piece. BACK PIECE: = 76-80-84-92-96-102 stitches. Work stocking stitch back and forth until the piece measures 51-53-55-57-59-61 cm from the folding edge. Cast off the middle 30-32-34-34-36-38 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off as follows on each row from the neck: 1 stitch 2 times = 21-22-23-27-28-30 stitches on the shoulder. Work until the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the folding edge. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 81-85-91-99-105-111 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth as before, with 16-18-16-20-18-21 stitches in stocking stitch on each side. When the piece measures 48-50-51-52-54-56 cm from the folding edge, decrease 3-3-5-5-7-7 stitches evenly over the middle 33-33-35-35-37-37 stitches = 78-82-86-94-98-104 stitches. On the next row place the middle 22-24-26-26-28-30 stitches on a thread for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue the pattern and cast off as follows on each row from the neck: 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 21-22-23-27-28-30 stitches on the shoulder. NOTE: The stitches which do not fit into the pattern towards the neck are worked in stocking stitch. Work until the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the folding edge. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 40-42-44-46-48-50 stitches with double pointed needles size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work stocking stitch in the round for 3 cm. Purl 1 round (folding edge). Then work stocking stitch again for 3 cm. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of the round. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it is used when increasing under the sleeve. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm. Work stocking stitch until the sleeve measures 6-8-5-8-5-7 cm from the folding edge. Now increase 2 stitches under the sleeve - read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 3½-3-3-2½-2½-2 cm a total of 12-13-14-14-15-16 times = 64-68-72-74-78-82 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 48-48-46-45-43-41 cm from the folding edge. Place the stitches on circular needle size 5 mm and work stocking stitch back and forth until the sleeve measures 49-49-49-48-48-47 cm, i.e. a split of 1-1-3-3-5-6 cm. Cast off. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeve to the armhole inside the outermost stitch on the body. Then sew the split to the bottom of the armhole – see sketch. Fold the bottom edges on the body and sleeves to the inside and sew down - make sure the seams are not tight. DOUBLE NECK: Start on one shoulder and knit up from the right side 80-84-88-92-96-100 stitches around the neck-line (including the stitches from the thread in front and the number of stitches divisible by 2) using short circular needle size 4 mm. Work stocking stitch for 3 cm, purl 1 round (folding edge) and then work 3 cm in stocking stitch again. Change to circular needle size 5 mm and cast off a little loosely. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
