Yvaine Paquette

Knitting tension: Remember needle size is only a guide. 13 stitches x 18 rows with needle size 8 mm and stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm. Ridge/Garter stitch (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. Measuring tip: Because of the weight of the yarn, all length measurements must be taken while holding the piece up or the garment will be too long when worn. ----------------------------------------------------------- Back piece: Cast on 46-52-56-66-74 stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side) with needle size 8 mm and Symphony and work 1 ridge. Continue with stocking stitch. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 10 cm increase 1 stitch in each side every 7-7-7-16-16 cm a total of 4-4-4-2-2 times = 54-60-64-70-78 stitches. When piece measures 39-40-41-42-43 cm decrease for armholes in each side every 2nd row: 3 stitches 0-1-1-1-1 time, 2 stitches 1-1-1-1-2 times and 1 stitch 2-1-2-4-5 times = 46-48-50-52-54 stitches. When piece measures 57-59-61-63-65 cm cast off the middle 12-12-12-14-14 stitches for neck = 17-18-19-19-20 stitches left on each shoulder. Cast off the remaining stitches on the next row, piece measures 58-60-62-64-66 cm. Right front piece: Cast on 15-18-20-25-29 stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in the side) with needle size 8 mm and Symphony and work 1 ridge. Continue with stocking stitch but the outermost stitch towards mid front is worked in garter stitch to finished length. At the same time, increase towards mid front every 2nd row: 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 6 times = 23-26-28-33-37 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch but the outermost stitch towards mid front is worked in garter stitch. When piece measures 10 cm increase 1 stitch in the side every 7-7-7-16-16 cm a total of 4-4-4-2-2 times = 27-30-32-35-39 stitches. When piece measures 39-40-41-42-43 cm decrease to armhole in the side as for back piece = 23-24-25-26-27 stitches on needle. When piece measures 58-60-62-64-66 cm, cast off the outermost 17-18-19-19-20 stitches towards the side for shoulder. You will now work a collar over the remaining 6-6-6-7-7 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and the outermost stitch towards mid front in garter stitch until collar measures 5-5-5-6-6 cm, cast off. Left front piece: Cast on and work as for right but reversed. Sleeve: Cast on 38-38-40-40-42 stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side) with needle size 8 mm and Symphony and work 1 ridge. Continue with stocking stitch at the same time as you decrease 6 stitches evenly on first row after the ridge = 32-32-34-34-36 stitches. When piece measures 10 cm increase 1 stitch in each side every 7-5-4.5-3.5-3 cm a total of 6-8-9-11-12 times = 44-48-52-56-60 stitches. When sleeve measures 50-49-48-48-47 cm decrease for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 1-2-2-2-2 times and 1 stitch 2-1-2-2-3 time, then 2 stitches in each side until piece measures 56 cm, finally 3 stitches 1 time in each side. Cast off the remaining stitches, piece measures approx. 57 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Collar: Sew the collar together mid back with invisible grafting stitches. Sew the collar to the neckline on back piece with seam on wrong side. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams in one go inside the 1 edge stitch. Crochet edge: Work with hook size 7 mm and Salsa around bottom of sleeves and along the whole opening (i.e. from mid back at bottom of body, up the right front piece, back of neck, down left front piece and along bottom to mid back). Work as follows: 1 double crochet in first stitch, * 3 chain stitches, skip approx. 2 cm, 1 double crochet in next stitch *, repeat from *-* and finish with 3 chain stitches and 1 slip stitch in first double crochet at beginning of round. The jacket is closed with a silk scarf, belt or brooch. |
