I really love this pattern, but can't find Silke-tweed yarn. Is there a link for purchasing it or you could recomend another yarn for the same pattern? Thank you

Dear Mrs Papadopoulou, DROPS Silke-Tweed is now discontinued, use our yarn converter to see alternatives and get matching yarn amount. Happy knitting!

The lower decrease for largersize is 1 st on the front and 2 on the back after 10 cm and a further 7 Dec after every 5 cm which would make the total length 45cm however the instructions say work until 42 cm. Please advise
27.03.2023 - 09:13DROPS Design answered:
Dear Judy, in size XL you increase the first time when piece measures 10 cm, the 2nd time with it measures 15 cm, the 3rd time when it measures 20 cm, the 4th time when it measures 25 cm, the 5th time when it measures 30 cm, the 6th time when it measures 35 cm and the 7th time when it measures 40 cm (7 times on every 5 cm). So that all decreases are done when you have to purl the 2 rows - but if you are working size L (3rd size) then you will increase after: 10 cm, 14 cm, 18 cm, 22 cm, 26 cm, 30 cm, 34 cm, 38 cm (8 times on every 4th cm). Happy knitting!

On the back, the pattern says - continue in rib. It's not clear to me what the return row is. Is it the same as the first pattern row or is it purl 4 knit 2. The photo isn't clear enough to see this. Thanks Jeni.
23.07.2020 - 14:18DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jeni, On the return row you do purl 4 and knit 2. It is a continuous rib. Happy Knitting!

I’m working on the front section and have come to the decrease at the centre front. The pattern says to “ dec 1 st at the centre front every 3 rows, 14 times.” I would come back to the centre front every other row and so can’t figure out how to decrease at the front every third row. I must be missing something here (being a newbie). Could you please explain? Thanks.
28.01.2019 - 17:59DROPS Design answered:
Dear Rosemary, to decrease every 3rd row you will have to decrease from RS as well as from WS, on left front piece, you will decrease from RS at the end of row, from WS on left front piece you will decrease from WS at the beg of the row. Work 2 rows without decrease between each row with decreases. Happy knitting!

Knitting tension: Remember needle size is only a guide. 23 stitches x 30 rows with needle size 3.5 mm and stocking stitch = 10x10 cm. ------------------------------------------------------- Back piece: Cast on 118-128-138-148-158 stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side) with needle size 3 mm and Silke-Tweed. Knit 4 rows, change to needle size 3.5 mm and continue with stocking stitch. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 10 cm, decrease 1 stitch in each side every 3-3.5-4-5-6 cm a total of 10-9-8-7-6 times = 98-110-122-134-146 stitches. When piece measures 40-41-42-43-44 cm, purl 1 row from the right side and purl 1 row from the wrong side. The next row is worked as follows: Sizes S and XL: 1 edge stitch, P1, * K4, P2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with K4, P1 and 1 edge stitch. Sizes M, L and XXL: 1 edge stitch, K2, * P2, K4 *, repeat from *-* and finish with P2, K2 and 1 edge stitch. Continue with rib to finished length. When piece measures 56-57-58-59-60 cm, decrease for armhole in each side every 2nd row: 4 stitches 1 time, 3 stitches 0-0-1-1-2 times, 2 stitches 0-1-3-4-4 times and 1 stitch 3-4-3-4-4 times = 84-90-90-96-102 stitches. When piece measures 74-76-78-80-82 cm, cast off the middle 20-22-22-22-24 stitches for neck. Then decrease on each side of neck every 2nd row: 1 stitch 2 times = 30-32-32-35-37 stitches left on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 76-78-80-82-84 cm. Left front piece: Cast on 59-65-70-74-80 stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in the side and 1 band stitch towards mid front) with needle size 3 mm and Silke-Tweed. Knit 4 rows, change to needle size 3.5 mm and continue with stocking stitch. When piece measures 10 cm, decrease in the side as for back piece = 49-56-62-67-74 stitches. When piece measures 40-41-42-43-44 cm, purl 1 row from the right side and purl 1 row from the wrong side. The next row is worked as follows from the side: Sizes S and XL: 1 edge stitch, P1, * K4, P2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with K4 and 1 edge stitch. Sizes M, L and XXL: 1 edge stitch, K2, * P2, K4 *, repeat from *-* and finish with P2, K2 and 1 edge stitch towards mid front. Read the whole of the next section before continuing! When piece measures 56-57-58-59-60 cm, decrease for armhole in the side as for back piece. At the same time, when piece measures 60-61-62-63-64 cm, decrease for neck towards mid front: decrease every 3rd row: 1 stitch 12-14-14-13-15 times. After all decreases for armhole and neck there are = 30-32-32-35-37 stitches left on shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 76-78-80-82-84 cm. Right front piece: Cast on and work as for left, but reversed. Sleeve: Cast on 54-56-58-60-62 stitches (incl. 1edge stitch in each side) with needle size 3 mm and Silke-Tweed. Knit 4 rows, change to needle size 3.5 mm and continue with stocking stitch. When piece measures 12 cm, increase 1 stitch in each side as follows: Size S: Every 7th row a total of 15 times. Size M: Every 6th row a total of 17 times. Size L: Alternately every 5th and 6th row a total of 18 times. Size XL: Alternately every 4th and 5th row a total of 20 times. Size XXL: Every 4th row a total of 22 times. After all the increases there are 84-90-94-100-106 stitches on needle. When sleeve measures 47-46-45-44-43 cm, decrease for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 4 stitches 1 time, 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 3-3-4-4-4 times and 1 stitch 1-3-2-4-9 times, then 2 stitches in each side until piece measures 54 cm, finally 3 stitches 1 time in each side. Cast off the remaining stitches, piece measures approx. 55 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Band + neckline: Knit up along right front piece, back of neck and down left front piece with circular needle size 3 mm: approx. 380 to 430 stitches. Knit 4 rows, cast off. Crochet 4 button loops along the right front piece with hook size 3 mm. Start where the rib on the front piece begins and spread the button loops upwards so that the last one is just where the neckline starts. Each loop = 5 chain stitches, work slip stitches between loops. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams in one go inside the 1 edge stitch. Sew on buttons. |
