Are you supposed to continue until you have 50 stitches left? Because I can't seem to get the same math as you I must be missing something... Sorry. 3 sts 1 time (6 sts), 2 sts 3 times (12 sts), 1 st 3 times (6 sts), 2 st 3 times (12 sts) and 3 sts 1 time (6) = 50 sts left. (6 + 12 + 6 + 12 + 6 = 42) Thanks.
24.02.2020 - 23:46DROPS Design vastas:
Hi Malia, After you bind off the 20 stitches under the tummy, you have 92 stitches left in your size. The binding off after that, as you say, is a total of 42 stitches, which leaves you with 50 stitches on the needle. Happy knitting!

I finished the bind off 20 sts mid underneath the stomach (two from the end of my row for symmetry.) Now work the piece back and forth on needle – at the same time bind off each side on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 time, 1 st 3 times, 2 st 3 times and 3 sts 1 time = 50 sts left. The piece measures approx. 30. Can someone explain this next part in more detail? I can't get the same final stitch count even using the calculator so I'm misunderstanding something.

Dear Mrs Cicconetti, you will now continue back and forth (in rows) and cast off at the beginning of each row on each side (= this means both from RS and from WS): 3 sts 1 time (= cast off 3 sts at the beg of next 2 rows), 2 sts 3 times (= cast off 2 sts at the beg of next 6 rows), 1 st 3 times (= cast off 1 st at the beg of next 6 rows) and so on. Happy knitting!

Why are Drops patterns always written so confusing? Who writes them? I know of several ways to write them in a simple form. I love the designs but the written patterns( as I read the comments, many agree) are very confusing. And your videos dont always help. Theres has to be a better way to write your patterns.
09.02.2020 - 03:17DROPS Design vastas:
Dear Monica, we are sorry, you don't like the way the patterns are written. Probably the reason is that there is a basic difference between the European and the English/ American pattern writing systems. Granted, the first time they might require extra attention, but once you get hang of the way they work, they will make sense, and you will see, that - for example- they would be easier to modify. Also don't forget that if you get stuck, you can always ask for help either here, or in our FB group - DROPS Workshop- or in person, in the store youu bought your DROPS yarn from. Happy knitting!

Merci

Beth, M1, M2, & M3 are referring to diagrams/charts on the next page If you downloaded the US version as well as they are on the site. If you need help with reading charts FAQ #9 addresses it, just remember you start at the bottom right unless you knit left handed (you move your stitches from the right needle to left needle.) Also note, there repeats are different then any other pattern I've worked. If it says working (* M.2, P2 *, repeat from *-* 3 times) they mean 3 times total.

I am just getting started on this free Drops Lookout pattern. After the collar, what does "M.2, P.2" mean? I am guessing that P.2 means Pearl 2 but what would M.2 mean? There is no key or other information on this pattern. I see a chart titled M.2 but there are 6 rows on the chart -- but no explanation. The pattern notes go on with "M.2, *M3, M.2*. I don't see any videos demonstrating this part of the patterns. Can anyone provide more information? Thank you in advance for any help!

I see where someone else is confused with how the small is written. If you only wanted 6 stitches for the *m. 2p2* you would write it as a repeat once. As written you have it for 18. You do it once and repeat to more times. That is why it is so confusing.

I'm doing the size small and I was having issues until I added up all the stitches. I'm assuming count needs to be 114 not 112 as how it's written.

MUSTER Vaata skeeme M.1 kuni M.3. Muster on näidatud töö paremalt poolt. SOONIK *2 pr, 2 ph*, korda *kuni*. -------------------------------------------------------- KAMPSUN Kampsun kootakse ringselt kaelast allapoole. Edasi koo mustrit erinevatel suurustel järgmiselt: SUURUS XS: koo muster M.2, 2 ph, M.2, 3 ph, M.3, M.2, M.1 (= seljaosa keskkoht), M.2, M.3 ja 3 ph. SUURUS S: *M.2, 2 ph*, korda alates * 2 korda; siis M.2, *M.3, M.2*, korda *-* 2 korda; siis M.1 (= seljaosa keskkoht), *M.2, M.3*, korda alates * 2 korda. SUURUS M: *M.2, 2 ph*, korda alates * 3 korda; M2, *M.3, M.2*, korda alates * 3 korda; M.1 (= seljaosa keskkoht), *M.2, M.3*, korda alates * 3 korda. SAMAL AJAL, kui kootud on 12-16-20 cm, jaga töö esikäppade jaoks järgmiselt: Pane 10-16-22 silmust silmusehoidjale (= kõhualune), koo maha 1 ph silmus, koo edasi seljaosa ja koo maha viimane silmus teisel pool = 64-94-130 s (=seljaosa). Edasi koo nende silmustega edasi-tagasi, kuni kootud on 6-8-10 cm (kokku 18-24-30 cm). Koo edasi mustris, kuni töö on 24-31-38 cm pikkune. Koo maha kõhu alt keskmised 12-20-28 silmust ja jätka kudumist edasi-tagasi ja koo kummaski servas üle ühe rea silmuseid maha järgmiselt: 3 s 1 kord, 2 s 2-3-4 korda, 1 s 2-3-4 korda, 2 s 2-3-4 korda ja 3 s 1 kord = 32-50-74 silmust alles. Töö on nüüd umbes 30-39-48 cm pikkune. Korda sama teise auguga. |
