There is a mistake in the tension test square for the Grape Valley jacket....21 stitches X21 rows equals 4 square inches.....there was no point knitting another 21 rows.... as suggested... 21 stitches X 42 rows just doesn’t work... I am loathe to go ahead because I have no idea which size to make with this mistake!

Dear Carolyn, tension is counted in garter stich, you should have 42 rows in garter stitch or 21 ridges = 10 cm in height. Read more about tension here. It's a very usual tension four our patterns worked in garter stitch with a yarn group B as Muskat Soft was and needle size 4mm. Happy knitting!

From RS: beg of row = side-B (towards mid front), the end of row = side-A (towards the side). Now continue as described for right back piece. NECKLINE: Cast on 25-24-23-22-21-20 sts, pick up approx 67-70-73-76-81-88 sts along neckline on left front piece, and slip the 6 front band sts back on needle = 98-100-102-104-108-114 sts. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Like left front piece, but: From RS: beg of row = side-A (towards mid front) and the end of row = side-B (towards the side). Remember BUTTONHOLES – see above. SLEEVE: Worked in garter st throughout back and forth on needle, i.e. K all rows. Cast on 56-62-66-72-80-86 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 4 mm with Muskat Soft. When piece measures 4 cm inc 1 st each side, and repeat the inc after 4 cm = 60-66-70-76-84-90 sts. When piece measures 13-12-12-11-11-10 cm - less for the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder- cast off 3 sts each side, and cast off to shape the sleeve cap each side at the beg of every row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 11-13-15-17-19-21 times. Now cast off 3 sts each side 1 time and cast off remaining sts. Piece measures approx 20-20-21-21-22-22 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams inside 1 edge st. Sew on buttons. |
