Thank you for your prompt reply to my previous question re sleeve bands. You may need to update the English version in Ravelry as it states: INCREASE TIP = 36-36-36-42-42-42-48 :)

I'm confused with the number of stitches for knitting the sleeve bands. I'm knitting size 2. End up with 43 stitches. To work rib, instructions say to increase 9 which would mean I'd have 52 stitches but instructions have 36....
11.07.2026 - 13:27DROPS Design answered:
Hi Kim, In size 2 months you should have 43 stitches when you have finished decreasing for the sleeve. You increase 9 stitches for the rib which gives you 52 stitches as stated in the pattern. Regards, Drops Team.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn over from the left needle onto the right needle purl-wise, then replace it on the left needle by inserting the needle through the back (the yarn over is the other way round). Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the left): Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. INCREASE TIP – for transition to rib: When increasing evenly in the transition between stocking stitch and rib, it is important to increase in the rib’s purled sections so the knitted stitches continue neatly from the stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 80-80-80-88-88-88-96 stitches with circular needle size 2.5 mm and DROPS Sky. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Knit 1 so the round begins between 2 knitted stitches. Insert 1 marker after the first 28-28-28-30-30-30-32 stitches (approx. mid-front), the piece is measured from here. YOKE: Insert 4 markers, without working the stitches and inserting each marker between 2 stitches – these 2 stitches are the raglan-stitches. You increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches and the raglan-stitches are always knitted. Insert marker-1 before the first stitch, count 16 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-2 before the next stitch, count 24-24-24-28-28-28-32 stitches (= front piece), Insert marker-3 before the next stitch, count 16 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-4 before the next stitch, there are 24-24-24-28-28-28-32 stitches left after the last marker (= back piece). Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and work the next round as follows: Knit 16 and increase 1 stitch (= sleeve), knit to the next marker (= front piece), knit 16 and increase 1 stitch (= sleeve), knit to end of round = 82-82-82-90-90-90-98 stitches. On the next round begin increasing for RAGLAN and work PATTERNS A.1 to A.3 on the sleeves as follows: NOTE: The arrow shows the last round in each size (applies to A.1 and A.3). ROUND 1: * Knit 1, make 1 yarn over, work A.1, A.2, A.3, make 1 yarn over, knit 2, make 1 yarn over, knit until there is 1 stitch left before the next marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 1, * work from *-* 1 more time (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit – remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 14-14-15-16-17-18-19 times (28-28-30-32-34-36-38 rounds worked) = 194-194-202-218-226-234-250 stitches. The increases on the sleeves are finished. Continue pattern on the sleeves as before (= A.2) and continue increasing for raglan on the front and back pieces every 2nd round 5-6-7-6-7-8-7 more times (= 4 increased stitches) = 214-218-230-242-254-266-278 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Continue working without further increases if necessary, until the yoke measures 13-14-15-15-16-17-18 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Knit 1 (this stitch belongs to the back piece), place the next 43-43-45-47-49-51-53 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 6-8-10-10-10-10-10 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 64-66-70-74-78-82-86 (= front piece), place the next 43-43-45-47-49-51-53 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 6-8-10-10-10-10-10 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 63-65-69-73-77-81-85 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 140-148-160-168-176-184-192 stitches. Continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 26-29-33-37-40-42-44 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 28-32-32-32-36-36-40 stitches evenly on the first round – read INCREASE TIP = 168-180-192-200-212-220-232 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 29-32-36-40-44-46-48 cm from the marker mid-front and 33-36-40-44-48-50-52 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 43-43-45-47-49-51-53 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 3.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-8-10-10-10-10-10 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 49-51-55-57-59-61-63 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-8-10-10-10-10-10 stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Continue A.2 in the round, with 4 stitches mid-under the sleeve always knitted. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm from the division, decrease under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP, as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 8-10-8-9-10-11-12 cm 3-3-4-4-4-4-4 times = 43-45-47-49-51-53-55 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 19-24-28-32-35-39-42 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 9-7-9-7-9-11-9 stitches evenly on the first round – remember INCREASE TIP = 52-52-56-56-60-64-64 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm, cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 22-27-31-35-39-43-46 cm from the division. |
