END OF ROW: Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1. Work like this from both the right and wrong side. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is started back and forth, casting on stitches at the back of the neck and working the back piece top down, while increasing stitches on each side for the shoulders which become slightly diagonal. The back piece is worked as far as the armholes. The front pieces are then worked in 2 sections, knitting up stitches along 1 back shoulder, working downwards and increasing AT THE SAME TIME for the neckline and the armhole. This is repeated on the other shoulder. The front and back pieces are joined on the same circular needle and the body worked back and forth from mid-front. BACK PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth. Cast on 10-10-10-12-12-12-12 stitches with circular needle size 12 mm and DROPS Polaris. ROW 1 (wrong side): Purl. ROW 2 (right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 3 (wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2. Purl 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the right, purl 3. Work ROWS 2 and 3 until you have increased 10-10-12-12-12-14-14 times on each side (20-20-24-24-24-28-28 rows worked) = 30-30-34-36-36-40-40 stitches. Insert 1 marker outermost on one side. The piece is now measured from here! Continue stocking stitch with I-CORD on each side (2 stitches) – read explanation above. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Work until the piece measures 13-13-13-12-11-9-8 cm from the marker, measured outermost along the armhole. Now increase for the armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1. Work I-cord, knit 1, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 1, work I-cord. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl with I-cord on each side. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 2-3-3-4-5-6-7 times (4-6-6-8-10-12-14 rows worked) = 34-36-40-44-46-52-54 stitches, finishing with a row from the right side. The piece measures approx. 17-18-18-19-20-20-21 cm from the marker, measured outermost along the armhole. Cut the strand and place the stitches on a stitch holder/thread. Work the left front piece along the left back shoulder as follows. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Find the left back shoulder as follows: Lay the back piece flat, right side up, with the stitch holder/thread towards you; left side of piece = left shoulder. From the right side, begin by the neck on the left back shoulder and knit up 1 stitch in each row worked, inside the outermost stitch (= 10-10-12-12-12-14-14 stitches), then knit up 1 stitch in each of the next 2 rows down the back piece = 12-12-14-14-14-16-16 stitches. All length-measurements on the front piece are taken from this knitted-up row. ROW 1 (wrong side): Purl with I-cord on each side. ROW 2 (right side): Knit with I-cord on each side. Work ROWS 1 and 2 until the piece measures 27-28-30-29-30-32-33 cm. OVERVIEW OF THE NEXT SECTIONS: Now increase for the V-neck and the armhole. The increases for the armhole begin before the increases for the V-neck are finished. Read the next 2 sections before continuing so you know when to begin the armhole increases. There is approx. 4 cm left to finished length. On the next row decrease across the front pieces as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work I-cord, knit 1, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (1 stitch decreased), work until there are 5 stitches left on the row, knit 1, knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased), work I-cord.
