------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. INCREASE TIP (for body): All increases are worked from the right side. Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-thread, 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker-thread sits between these 4 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next row purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. ------------------------------------------------------- START HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked in the round bottom up as far as the armholes, then divided and front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round, bottom up as far as the armhole, then the sleeve cap is finished back and forth. The piece is sewn together and the neckline worked with I-cord. BODY: Cast on 216-240-264-296-340-376 stitches with circular needle size 2.5 mm and DROPS Safran. Work 4 rounds of rib (knit 2, purl 2). Work pattern A.1 in the round until the piece measures 7-7-8-8-9-9 cm. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work 1 round of stocking stitch and decrease 44-52-56-64-76-80 stitches evenly on this round = 172-188-208-232-264-296 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round and 1 marker-thread after 86-94-104-116-132-148 stitches = sides. Continue with stocking stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 9-9-10-10-11-11 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker-threads (4 stitches increased) – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 2-2-2-2-3-3 cm a total of 6-6-6-6-5-5 times in each side = 196-212-232-256-284-316 stitches. Work until the piece measures 21-22-23-24-25-26 cm from the cast-on edge. Now divide for the front and back pieces. DIVIDE FOR FRONT AND BACK PIECES: Cast off the first 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches for the armhole, knit 92-100-108-120-132-148, cast off the next 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches for the armhole, knit 92-100-108-120-132-148, cast off the last 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches for the armhole. Cut the strand. Finish the front and back pieces separately. BACK PIECE: = 92-100-108-120-132-148 stitches. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and cast off on each side for the armholes, every 2nd row: 3 stitches 0-0-0-1-1-2 times, 2 stitches 1-2-3-4-5-6 times and 1 stitch 1-2-3-3-6-7 times = 86-88-90-92-94-98 stitches. When the piece measures 37-39-41-43-45-47 cm from the cast-on edge, cast off the middle 34-34-36-36-38-38 stitches for the neck line and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 25-26-26-27-27-29 shoulder-stitches. Work until the piece measures 39-41-43-45-47-49 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 92-100-108-120-132-148 stitches. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and cast off for the armholes in the same way as on the back piece = 86-88-90-92-94-98 stitches. When the piece measures 31-33-34-36-37-39 cm from the cast-on edge, place the middle 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches on 1 thread for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. Continue with stocking stitch and cast off for the neckline every 2nd row as follows: 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 4 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 25-26-26-27-27-29 shoulder-stitches. Work until the piece measures 39-41-43-45-47-49 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 80-84-96-112-120-128 stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work A.1 in the round for 2-2-2-3-3-3 cm. Change to needle size 3.5 mm, knit 1 round and decrease 10-7-12-14-15-16 stitches evenly spaced = 70-77-84-98-105-112 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round. Work A.2 until the sleeve measures 18-18-17-17-16-15 cm – finishing with an odd round in the diagram. On the next round cast off 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches under the sleeve (i.e., 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches on each side of the marker-thread) = 64-71-76-90-95-102 stitches. Work back and forth with pattern as before and cast off for the sleeve cap at the beginning of each row on each side as follows: 2 stitches 3-4-4-4-4-5 times and 1 stitch 6-7-9-9-12-12 times = 40-41-42-56-55-58 stitches. Then cast off 2 stitches on each side until the sleeve measures 26-27-27-28-29-29 cm. Cast off 3 stitches on each side. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 27-28-28-29-30-30 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeves to the armholes. NECKLINE WITH I-CORD: Using circular needle size 2.5 mm, start from the right side by one shoulder seam and knit up 106-124 stitches around the neckline (including the stitches from the thread in front). Cast on 3 stitches on the right needle, from the right side. Slip these 3 stitches onto the left needle so the working strand is 3 stitches in on the left needle (tighten the strand as you work to form a small tube). ROW 1 (right side): Knit 2, knit 2 twisted together. ROW 2 (right side): Slip the 3 stitches from the right needle to the left needle, knit 2, knit 2 twisted together. Repeat ROW 2 until there are 3 stitches left on the right needle. Slip these 3 stitches onto the left needle. Cast off. Sew a small stitch to join the beginning and end of the I-cord. |
