I am working the front part and have started the first shoulder decrease from the neck. I cast off the middle 18 stitches (9 on each side of the center) and decreased 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2 times and was going to continue to the first 1 stitch decrease when I saw that my shoulder stitches were not going to result in 23 stitches, as I now have 32. This means that after the 2-1 stitch decrease I will be left with 30 stitches, 7 stitches too much. Help! Did I interpret something wrong?

Hi Carmen, After you have cast off the middle 18 stitches, you cast off (on each row from the neck) a further 3 stitches once, then 2 stitches x 2 and 1 stitch x 2. Taking size S as an example, you had 82 stitches on the front piece, cast off 18, leaving 32 stitches on each shoulder, then cast off a further 9 stitches leaving you with 23 stitches on the shoulder. Hope this helps and happy knitting!

I cant figure out the sleeve decrease. I am making the xlarge. I casted on 80stitches, increased to 86. When the piece measured 2", I bound of 12 stitches - result 74 stitches -- all good at that point. The rest does not make sense. It calls for a total decrease of 22 stitches over the next 14 rows which still leaves me with 52 stitches too many stitches and and my sleeve is too short. Please advise correct pattern
16.01.2023 - 00:02DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Oxey, then cast off 2 sts at the beginning of next 6 rows (2 sts 3 times on each side), then 1 stitch at the beg of next 16 rows (1 st 8 times on each side), 2 sts at the beg of next 4 rows (2 sts 2 times on each side) and 4 sts at the beg of next 2 rows (4 sts on each side) = 74-12-16-8-8=30 sts remain. Happy knitting!

16.04.2022 - 19:09DROPS Design answered:
Liebe Angelika, jetzt stricken Sie die 3. Reihe in A.1 und A.2 wie im Diagram gezeigt, dh Sie haben die 2 ersten Reihe A.1 schon mit den kleineren Nadeln gestrickt, jetzt stricken Sie die 3. Reihe A.1/A.2 (und die anderen Maschen wie zuvor). Viel Spaß beim stricken!

Hvordan gjør jeg dette: Strikk siste omgang i A.1 og A.2, og strikk rett over de resterende maskene på omgangen.
06.07.2021 - 20:45DROPS Design answered:
Hej Camilla, sidste omgang i A.1 og A.2 er 3 pind talt nedefra og op, de øvrige masker strikkes ret.

Mariacristina.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. INCREASE TIP: Work as far as A.3, make 1 yarn over, work A.3, make 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- TOP – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked in the round with circular needle, as far as the armholes. The front and back pieces are then finished back and forth, separately. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, as far as the armholes, then the sleeve cap is finished back and forth. The sections are sewn together and the neck worked in the round to finish. BODY: Cast on 192-200-224-240-272-296 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and Muskat. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) in the round for 2 cm. The next round is worked as follows – starting on the round with an arrow in each diagram: * A.1 over the first 7 stitches (= 1 stitch decreased), knit 2-4-6-10-18-20 and decrease at the same time 0-0-1-0-1-1 stitch by knitting 2 together, work A.2 over the next 80-80-88-88-88-96 stitches (= 10-10-11-11-11-12 stitches decreased), work the first 5 stitches in A.2 (= 1 stitch decreased), knit 2-4-6-10-18-20 and decrease at the same time 0-0-1-0-1-1 stitch by knitting 2 together, *, work from *-* 1 more time = 168-176-194-214-242-264 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Work the last round in A.1 and A.2, and knit the remaining stitches on round. Now work pattern as follows: * A.3 over A.1 (= under the sleeve), knit 2-4-5-10-17-19 stitches, work A.4 over the next 70-70-77-77-77-84 stitches, work the first 4 stitches in A.4, knit 2-4-5-10-17-19 stitches *, work from *-* 1 more time. Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 4-4-5-5-5-5 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of A.3 under both sleeves– read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 7-5-5-5-5½-6 cm a total of 3-4-4-4-4-4 times = 180-192-210-230-258-280 stitches. When the piece measures 22-23-24-25-26-27 cm, cast off for the armholes as follows: Cast off 6-7-8-9-10-11 stitches, work the next 84-88-95-103-115-124 stitches, cast off 6-8-10-12-14-16 stitches, work the next 84-88-95-103-115-124 stitches, cast off the last 0-1-2-3-4-5 stitches. The back and front pieces are finished separately. BACK PIECE: = 84-88-95-103-115-124 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth, AT THE SAME TIME cast off for the armholes on each side at the beginning of each row as follows: Cast off 2 stitches 0-1-1-2-5-5 times, then 1 stitch 1-1-1-3-3-4 times = 82-82-89-89-89-96 stitches. When the piece measures 17-18-19-20-21-22 cm from the division (the whole piece measures approx. 39-41-43-45-47-49 cm from the cast-on edge), cast off the middle 34-34-39-39-39-46 stitches for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. Then cast off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 23-23-24-24-24-24 stitches on the shoulder. Continue working until the piece measures 41-43-45-47-49-49 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 84-88-95-103-115-124 stitches. When the piece measures 11-12-12-13-13-14 cm from the division (the whole piece measures approx. 33-35-36-38-39-41 cm from the cast-on edge), cast off 18-18-23-23-23-24 stitches for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. Then cast off on each row from the neck as follows: 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2-2-2-2-2-3 times and 1 stitch 2-2-2-2-2-3 times = 23-23-24-24-24-24 stitches on the shoulder. Continue working until the piece measures 41-43-45-47-49-51 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 66-70-74-80-84-90 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and Muskat. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 2 cm. Knit 1 round where you increase 6 stitches evenly spaced = 72-76-80-86-90-96 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm, and work in stocking stitch. When the piece measures 6-6-5-5-5-5 cm, cast off 6-8-10-12-14-16 stitches mid-under the sleeve = 66-68-70-74-76-80 stitches. Then work the sleeve cap back and forth, AT THE SAME TIME as casting stitches off at the beginning of each row as follows: 2 stitches 3-3-3-3-2-2 times, 1 stitch 2-3-5-8-14-14 times, 2 stitches 4-4-3-2-1-1 times and 4-3-3-4-3-3 stitches 1 time = 26-28-30-30-30-34 stitches. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 13-14-14-15-18-18 cm. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in the sleeves. NECK: Knit up 88 to 120 stitches (number divisible by 2) around the neck from the right side, using short circular needle size 3 mm and Muskat. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) in the round for 2 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. |
