Bonjour !

Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.3 and A.4). The whole pattern is worked in stocking stitch. DECREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needles (e.g. 44 stitches) and divide by number of decreases to be made (e.g. 4) = 11. In this example decrease by knitting each 10th and 11th stitch together. DECREASE TIP-2 (for toe): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the middle stitch in A.2 as follows: Work until there is 1 stitch left before A.2, knit 2 together with off white, work the middle stitch in A.2 as before, knit twisted together the next 2 stitches with off white (= 2 stitches decreased). HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 5-6-6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 5-6-6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 4-5-5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 4-5-5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. Continue decreasing like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 5-7-7-9-9 stitches left on the needle. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down. SOCK: Cast on 44-44-48-52-52 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and dark grey. Knit 1 round, then work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 2-2-3-3-3 cm. Knit 1 round where you decrease 4-4-0-4-4 stitches evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP-1 = 40-40-48-48-48 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work A.1 (= 4 stitches) in the round. When A.1 has been completed the piece measures approx. 5-5-6-6-6 cm. The next round is worked as follows: Work A.2 (= 3 stitches), A.3 (= 17-17-21-21-21 stitches), A.2 (= 3 stitches) and A.4 (= 17-17-21-21-21 stitches). Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the last round in A.4 remains (A.3 is not finished), decrease 4-0-4-0-0 stitches evenly spaced over the 17-17-21-21-21 stitches in A.4 (the other stitches are continued as before, but without decreases) = 36-40-44-48-48 stitches on the needles and the piece measures approx. 13-13-15-15-15 cm. Place the stitches in A.2 + A.3 + A.2 on a thread (= 23-23-27-27-27 stitches on top of foot). There are 13-17-17-21-21 stitches left on the needles for the heel. Cast on 1 new stitch at the end of the last row with dark grey, turn, work 1 stitch with dark grey, work A.5 over the first 12-16-16-20-20 stitches on the heel, work the first stitch in A.5 (so that the pattern begins and ends in the same way on both sides) and cast on 1 new stitch at the end of the row with dark grey – the new stitches are edge stitches and are worked in dark grey = 15-19-19-23-23 stitches. Continue A.5 back and forth over the 13-17-17-21-21 heel stitches (edge stitches in dark grey) until the heel measures 4½-4½-5-5½-5½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the row; this will be used later when measuring the foot length. Continue by working HEEL DECREASE – read description above (continue to work A.5). After the heel decrease, the next round is worked as follows: Continue A.5 over the 5-7-7-9-9 heel-stitches, knit up 10-10-10-12-12 stitches along the side of the heel, place the 23-23-27-27-27 stitches from the thread back on the needles and continue A.2 + A.3 + A.2 as before over these 23-23-27-27-27 stitches and knit up 10-10-10-12-12 stitches along the other side of the heel = 48-50-54-60-60 stitches. Continue this pattern in the round; A.5 under the foot, A.3 on top of the foot and A.2 on each side of the sock. AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the middle 21-21-25-25-25 stitches on top of the foot as follows: Knit together, using off-white, the last 2 stitches before the middle 21-21-25-25-25 stitches on top of the foot and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after these 21-21-25-25-25 stitches, again using off-white. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 6-6-6-8-8 times = 36-38-42-44-44 stitches. Continue this pattern until the piece measures 10-12-13-15-17 cm from the marker on the heel, measured under the foot (there is approx. 5 cm left to finished length in all sizes; you can try the sock on and work to desired length). On the next round, knit the middle 17-17-21-21-21 stitches on the top of the foot using dark grey (the other stitches are continued as before). Then work as follows to finished length: Continue A.5 under the foot as before, A.2 on each side and A.5 over the 17-17-21-21-21 stitches on top of the foot. When the piece measures 11-13-14-16-18 cm from the marker on the heel (there is now approx. 4 cm left to finished length), decrease for the toe on each side of the middle stitch in A.2 on each side of the sock – read DECREASE TIP-2 (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 5-5-4-4-4 times and then every round a total of 2-2-4-4-4 times = 8-10-10-12-12 stitches left. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 4-5-5-6-6 stitches left. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The sock measures approx. 15-17-18-20-22 cm from the marker on the heel, measured under the foot. Work the other sock in the same way. |
