Hi Again! I have a question on the gauge. It says 21 sts x 40 rows in garter = 10 x 10 cm. I figured that 10 x 10 is 4" x 4". You suggest using Size 4mm needle. I am up to a size 6mm to get 21 stitches and 40 rows to equal 4" x 4". Does that make sense to you??

Dear Mrs Palsa - you will read more about knitting tension here. Happy knitting!

Hi Again -- I would not be able to do this without your help. So Thank You. Above you said there was a total of 228 Rows. Below you said Pattern 1 has 72 rows and Pattern 2 has 44 rows. You are to do pattern 1 and pattern 2 a total of 2 times. That would come to 232 Total rows. ------ 232 is what I came up with by reading the pattern. But then you said there would be a total of 228 rows. So I am confused now. Please help. Thank you.
09.09.2020 - 06:05DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Palsa, you should have a total of 228 rows = pattern-1 = 72 rows, pattern-2 = 44 rows, pattern-1 = 72 rows, pattern-2 = 40 rows (2nd time you work pattern-2 you don't work the eyelet pattern) = 72+44+72+40= 228 rows. Happy knitting!

Hi: New knitter and I think I'm getting this -- Slow Going. I think my gauge is off but I'll ask about that later. Can you tell me how many actual total rows are done for this shawl?
07.09.2020 - 21:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Palsa, you can always read more about tension here - with 40 rows garter stitch = 10 cm, the 57 cm should match approximately 228 rows. Happy Knitting!

Hi: Is this worked with one strand of the Kid-Silk? Eyelet Row: When you say outermost 4 sts ... Do you mean K1, 1YO, K1, 1YO ??? Is it possible to translate the other questions to English? Thank you. Love This
31.07.2020 - 18:15DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Palsa, correct, the shawl is entirely worked with 1 Strand Kid-Silk (only cast off with 2 strands to make it elastic) - the outermost sts on eyelet rows are the first 4 sts worked K1, YO, K1, YO. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Hello. I'm new-ish to knitting and don't understand the pattern and when I do the eyelet rows. For pattern 1 (when I first start), does it mean knit 32 rows, then knit Row 1 of the eyelet row - which just says knit? Then another 32 rows and then Row 2 of the eyelet row - which is all purl until knitting the final 4 stitches? Or do I knit 32 rows and then all 4 of the eyelet rows? Then do I move on to pattern 2, and then eyelets and then back to pattern 1? Help!
26.09.2019 - 23:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Williams, the pattern-1 consists on 16 ridges (= 32 rows) + the lace pattern (= 4 rows), and you repeat these 36 row a total of 2 times = 72 rows for pattern-1. In pattern-2 you will work 4 ridges (= 8 rows) + the lace pattern (=4 rows) = 12 rows you repeat a total of 2 times = 24 row s then work 8 ridges (= 16 rows) + lace pattern (= 4 rows) = 44 rows for pattern-2. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. EYELET ROW: ROW 1 (= RS): Work and inc as before over the outermost 4 sts, K until 4 sts remain, K 4. ROW 2 (= WS): Work and inc as before over the outermost 4 sts, P until 4 sts remain, K 4. ROW 3 (= RS): Work and inc as before over the outermost 4 sts, * K 2 tog, 1 YO *, repeat from *-* until 4 sts remain, K 4. ROW 4 (= WS): As 2nd row. PATTERN-1: * Work 16 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above, and 1 EYELET ROW *, repeat from *-* 2 times in total. PATTERN-2: * Work 4 ridges and 1 EYELET ROW - see explanation above *, repeat from *-* 2 times in total and work 8 ridges and 1 EYELET ROW. KNITTING TIP: If you want a bigger shawl work entire pattern 2, then continue with pattern 1 until desired size - adjust to avoid casting off straight after an eyelet row. ---------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Worked back and forth on circular needle to make room for all the sts. Cast on 2 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with Kid-Silk. Then work PATTERN-1 - see explanation above - while AT THE SAME TIME inc in the sides as follows: ROW 1-2: K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row. ROW 3-4: K 1, 1 YO, K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION Repeat the 4 inc rows until finished measurements. NOTE: Make sure to always work eyelet row from the same side of piece. When pattern-1 is done, work PATTERN-2 - see explanation above. Repeat pattern-1 and pattern-2 1 more time in total but on last repetition do not work the last eyelet row in pattern-2. Piece now measures approx. 57 cm measured in knitting direction - READ KNITTING TIP. Loosely cast off with double yarn. |
