To clarify I am making a xxl. When you attach the sleeves and start decreasing them you start with 4 knit stitches on the outside of each sleeve. So once you decrease 3 times you're left with one knit stitch next to a purl. Here's where I get lost. Do you knit together or purl together the knit and purl stitch. Hope that clarifies my question.
13.05.2014 - 17:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dudics, the 4th dec in the 4 largest sizes are dec by P the 2 sts tog. Happy knitting

Decreasing the sleeves seems to be giving me pause. I read the one post on this and understand but my question is this. Your always left with one knit or one purl. You start with 4 knit stitches. So if I knit 2 together I'm left with one knit stitch. So what do I do when I come to the 3 purl stitches? That's where my confusion comes in. Thanks in advance.
12.05.2014 - 14:57DROPS Design answered:
Hi, we are not sure we understand your question. The different sizes will have different sts starting and ending the row. When dec you keep working the sts tog based on if next st is a knit or purl. Meaning in the beginning if 2nd st is a K then k2tog, and when you are at the end, if 2nd to last st is a K then k2tg, and vice verse if these sts would be P sts.

Buon lavoro!!

Hello, i would like to ask you a think because is not very clear to me. In the pattern i read "Dec outermost st on each side of sleeves by K 2 or P 2 sts tog depending on what fits the pattern." I don't understand very well how i have to do these decreases. You mean to the point that joins the sleeve to the body? So i have to do 4 drecreases? Thanks in advance.
11.02.2014 - 12:19DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Vlachou, you decrease for sleeve 1st and last st on sleeve by working 2 sts tog. You will have to K2 tog or P2 tog following the pattern (work K over K or P over P). Decreasing are not the same on sleeves and on body. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS jumper or tunic with cables, ¾ sleeves and large, wide collar in ”Nepal”. Size: XS to XXXL.
DROPS 131-1 |
|||||||
PATTERN: See diagram M.1 – the diagram shows 1 repetition of the pattern from RS. -------------------------------------------------------- BODY (JUMPER AND TUNIC): Worked in the round on circular needle. NOTE: When there are no both in front of and inside ( ), the no in front of ( ) applies to jumper and no inside ( ) applies to tunic. Cast on 188-212-224-248-260 sts on circular needle size 7 mm with Nepal. P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round. Insert a marker in each side, i.e. at beg of round and after 94-106-112-124-130 sts. Continue to work as follows: * K 8-8-11-11-10, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 5-6-6-7-7, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 6 in all sizes, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 5-6-6-7-7, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 6 in all sizes, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 5-6-6-7-7, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 6 sts in all sizes, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 5-6-6-7-7, P 5-6-6-7-8, K 8-8-11-11-10 * (= front piece), sts until marker in the side have been worked, repeat from *-* one more time over the remaining sts (= back piece). When piece measures 5 cm, work diagram M.1 over the 6 K sts in all size (= 3 times on front piece and 3 times on back piece). AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 13 (16) cm, dec 1 st in all P sections by P the last 2 sts tog (= 16 sts dec). When piece measures 18 (24) cm, dec 1 st in all K sections except the one in each side (= 4 sections on front and 4 sections on back), by K tog the first 2 sts (= 8 sts dec). When piece measures 23 (32) cm, dec 1 st in all P sections by P the first 2 sts tog (= 16 sts dec). When piece measures 28 (40) cm, dec 1 st in all K sections (except the one in each side) by K the last 2 sts tog (= 8 sts dec). When piece measures 33 (48) cm, dec 1 st in all P sections by P the last 2 sts tog (= 16 sts dec). There are now 124-148-160-184-196 sts on needle. Continue until piece measures 39-39-40-41-42 (53-53-54-55-56) cm. On next round, cast off 6-6-6-8-8 sts each side for armholes (i.e. 3-3-3-4-4 sts on each side of both markers) = 112-136-148-168-180 sts remain on needle. Put piece aside and work the sleeves. SLEEVE: Worked in the round on a short circular needle. Cast on 54-56-58-60-62 sts on short circular needle size 7 mm with Nepal. P 1 round, insert a marker at beg of round (= mid under sleeve). Continue as follows: K 1-2-3-4-5, * P 4, K 3, P 6, K 3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, finish with P 4 and K 1-2-3-4-5. Continue like this upwards. After 1.5 cm, cast off for 2 button holes as follows: Work 10-11-12-13-14 sts as before, P 2 tog, 1 YO, work 30 sts as before, P 2 tog, 1 YO, work rest of round as before. Then continue as before until piece measures 20 cm. Then work opposite of before, i.e. as follows: P 1-2-3-4-5, * K 4, P 3, K 6, P 3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, finish with K 4 and P 1-2-3-4-5. After 6 rounds like this, work diagram M.1 over the 3 sections with 6 K sts (i.e. 3 cables on sleeve). When piece measures approx. 35 cm in all sizes, cast off 6-6-6-8-8 sts mid under (i.e. 3-3-3-4-4 sts on each side of marker) – adjust to cast off on same row in pattern as on body = 48-50-52-52-54 sts remain on needle. Put piece aside and knit another sleeve. YOKE: Slip sleeves on to same circular needle as body = 208-236-252-272-288 sts. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Insert a marker in all transitions between sleeves and body (= 4 markers). READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Work in the round over all sts as before – AT THE SAME TIME on 2nd round beg to dec. Dec as follows on SLEEVES: Dec outermost st on each side of sleeves by K 2 or P 2 sts tog depending on what fits the pattern. Repeat dec on every other round up to neck. Dec as follows on BODY: FIRST dec, after 3 cm: Dec 1 st in the 4 K sections on front and back piece by K the 2 first sts tog (= 8 sts dec). Work 5 cm with K over K, P over P and diagram M.1 over M.1. SECOND dec: Dec 1 st in the 8 P sections on front and back piece by P the 2 first sts tog (= 16 sts dec). Work 5 cm. THIRD dec: Dec 1 st in the 4 K sections on front and back piece by K the 2 last sts tog (= 8 sts dec). HERE ENDS THE DEC IN SIZE XS/S. Work 5 cm as before on all sizes. FOURTH dec (applies to the 4 largest sizes): Dec 1 st in the 8 P sections on front and back piece by P the 2 last sts tog (= 16 sts dec). HERE ENDS THE DEC FOR THE REMAINING SIZES. Continue in pattern as before for all sizes until yoke measures 18-19-20-21-22 cm, now also end the dec on the sleeves. There are now approx. 116 to 168 sts on needle. Switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm and K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec evenly to 96-104-112-120-120 sts. P 1 round. Then K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME inc 40 sts evenly = 136-144-152-160-160 sts. Work rib = K 1/P 1 for 7-8-8-9-9 cm. Continue rib = K 2/P 2 for 7-8-8-8-8 cm. Then work rib for 8 cm as follows: K 3, * P 4, K 4 *, repeat from *-*, finish with P 4 and K 1. Switch to circular needle size 7 mm, and cast off with K over K and P over P. ASSEMBLY: Sew the openings under the sleeves. Fold the bottom 12 cm on each sleeve up towards RS, and sew on buttons to match the button holes. |
