Hello, after increasing for armholes, i am supposed to knit without increases until the piece reaches the recommended length right, the thing is where do i measure from? From where i started increasing for arm holes or from the marker i placed when i stopped increasing from making the back piece

Dear Wabotlhe, "Continue working until the piece measures 14-15-16-17-17-18-19 cm, from the marker,". This marker is the measuring marker inserted after the increases of the back piece. So you work in stocking stitch, the work the 2 rows of armhole increases as indicated for your size and, if you still haven't reached the indicated measurements (it should be approx. 2-3-4 cm of armhole increases, depending on the size worked) work in stocking stitch without increases until you reach them. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE ONE STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT – right side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and knit the back loop. INCREASE ONE STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT – right side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the back and knit the front loop. INCREASE TIP-2: INCREASE ONE STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT – wrong side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the back and purl the front loop. INCREASE ONE STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT – wrong side: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and purl the back loop. DECREASE TIP (mid-under sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. KNITTING TIP: When working short rows, there will be a small hole after each turn – this hole can be closed by tightening the strand or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip the first stitch purl-wise, lay the strand over the right needle and tighten well from the back. There are now 2 loops on the needle, which are worked together on the next row. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The piece is started back and forth, casting on stitches at the back of the neck and working the back piece top down, while increasing stitches on each side for the shoulders, which become slightly diagonal. The back piece is worked as far as the armholes. The front piece is then worked in 2 sections, knitting up stitches along each back shoulder and working and increasing for the neckline. The 2 front sections are joined when the neckline is finished and worked until the armholes are finished. The front and back pieces are joined on circular needle and the body finished in the round Stitches are knitted up around the armholes for the sleeves, which are started back and forth for the sleeve cap, then finished in the round. Stitches are knitted up around the neckline and the neck worked in the round and folded double to the inside. BACK PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle. Cast on 28-30-30-32-34-34-36 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm and 2 strands DROPS Fabel. ROW 1 (wrong side): Purl. ROW 2 (right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1, knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 3 (wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2, purl 3 increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, purl 3. AFTER 3rd ROW: Work ROWS 2 and 3 a total of 11-12-13-15-16-17-18 times (22-24-26-30-32-34-36 rows worked), after the last increase there are = 72-78-82-92-98-102-108 stitches. Insert 1 marker outermost on one side. The piece is now measured from here! Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 12-13-14-15-15-15-15 cm from the marker. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now increase for the armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1, knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 2-2-2-2-2-3-4 times (4-4-4-4-4-6-8 rows worked) = 76-82-86-96-102-108-116 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 14-15-16-17-17-18-19 cm, from the marker, measured along the armhole, and finishing after a row from the wrong side. Cut the strands, place the stitches on a stitch holder and work the left front piece. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Find the left back shoulder as follows: Lay the back piece flat, right side up, with the stitch holder towards you; left side of piece = left shoulder. Start from the right side by the neckline on the left back shoulder and knit up 1 stitch in each worked row across to the armhole, inside the outermost stitch = 22-24-26-30-32-34-36 stitches. All measurements on the front piece are taken from this knitted-up row. Work stocking stitch (first row from wrong side). When the piece measures 9 cm, increase for the neckline as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1, knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to end of row. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 4 times (8 rows worked) = 26-28-30-34-36-38-40 stitches (with the next row from the right side). Cut the strands, place the stitches on a stitch holder and work the right front piece. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Start from the right side by the armhole on the right back shoulder and knit up 1 stitch in each worked row across to the neckline, inside the outermost stitch = 22-24-26-30-32-34-36 stitches. All measurements on the front piece are taken from this knitted-up row. Work stocking stitch (first row from wrong side). When the piece measures 9 cm, increase for the neckline as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Knit until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3 - remember INCREASE TIP-1. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 4 times (8 rows worked) = 26-28-30-34-36-38-40 stitches (with the next row from the right side). Now join the 2 front shoulders. FRONT PIECE (right and left shoulder joined): Work the first row from the right side as follows: Knit the 26-28-30-34-36-38-40 stitches across the right front piece, cast on 20-22-22-24-26-26-28 stitches for the neckline and knit the 26-28-30-34-36-38-40 stitches across the left front piece = 72-78-82-92-98-102-108 stitches. Work stocking stitch back and forth until the piece measures 22-23-24-25-27-27-27 cm. Continue working until the piece measures 24-25-26-27-29-30-31 cm, finishing after a row from the wrong side. Now join the front and back pieces for the body. The piece is now measured from here! BODY: Knit the 76-82-86-96-102-108-116 stitches across the front piece, cast on 4-4-6-6-6-8-8 stitches (in side mid-under sleeve), knit the 76-82-86-96-102-108-116 stitches across the back piece, cast on 4-4-6-6-6-8-8 stitches (in side mid-under sleeve) = 160-172-184-204-216-232-248 stitches. Continue working in the round until piece measures 37-38-39-40-40-41-42 cm from armhole. Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 20-20-20-24-24-28-28 stitches evenly on the first round = 180-192-204-228-240-260-276 stitches. When the rib measures 5-5-5-5-6-6-6 cm, cast off. The jumper measures approx. 64-66-68-70-72-74-76 cm, measured down the front from the top of the shoulder. The shoulder line is approx. 2 cm down the back piece. SLEEVES: The sleeve is worked top down. Lay the piece flat and insert 1 marker at the top of the armhole (NOTE! The top of the shoulder is not the knitted-up row from the front piece but approx. 5 to 6 cm down the front piece). Using circular needle size 4 mm. Start in the middle of the cast-on stitches under the sleeve and knit up 68-70-76-80-84-88-92 stitches around the armhole – make sure you have equal numbers of stitches before and after the marker. Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Work stocking stitch and short rows back and forth, to give the sleeve a better fit, starting mid under the sleeve as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Knit to 6 stitches past the marker at the top of the armhole, turn – read KNITTING TIP. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl to 6 stitches past the marker, turn. ROW 3 (right side): Knit to 6 stitches past the previous turn, turn. ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl to 6 stitches past the previous turn, turn. Repeat ROWS 3 and 4 until you have turned a total of 8-8-8-8-8-10-10 times (4-4-4-4-4-5-5 times on each side and the last row was from the wrong side). Turn and knit to the beginning of the round (mid-under sleeve). Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round, which is used when decreasing under the sleeve. Allow the marker-thread to follow your work onwards. Work stocking stitch in the round. Read DECREASE TIP. When the sleeve measures 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 cm measured under the sleeve, decrease 2 stitches every 2nd round 2-2-3-3-3-4-4 times, then decrease 2 stitches every 3-3-2½-2½-2-2-1½ cm 11-11-12-13-14-14-15 times = 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 55-54-53-51- 49-49-48 cm from top of shoulder. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 6-8-6-8-6-8-6 stitches evenly on the first round = 48-52-52-56-56-60-60 stitches. When the rib measures 5-5-5-5-6-6-6 cm, cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 60-59-58-56-55-55-54 cm from top of shoulder. DOUBLE NECK: Start on one shoulder and knit up from the right side, inside 1 edge stitch, 86 to 106 stitches using circular needle size 4 mm. The stitch count should be divisible by 4. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 9 cm. Cast off a little loosely. Fold the neck to the inside and fasten down with a couple of stitches. |
