------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each round of treble crochets, replace the first treble crochet with 3 chain stitches. The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. At the beginning of each round of half-treble crochets, replace the first half-treble crochet with 2 chain stitches. The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the 2nd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. At the beginning of each round of double crochets, replace the first double crochet with 1 chain stitch. The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in this chain stitch. 4 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER: Work 1 treble crochet between 2 treble crochets from the previous round but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through, work 2 more treble crochets around the same space but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through on both treble crochets, work 1 more treble crochet around the same space and pull the last yarn over through all 5 loops on the hook. NOTE: When the first treble-crochet group on the round is worked together, replace the first treble crochet with 2 chain stitches. 2 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER: Work 1 treble crochet around the same chain-space but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through, work 1 more treble crochet around the next chain-space and pull the last yarn over through all 3 loops on the hook. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. COLOUR-CHANGE: When changing colours between rounds, it is neatest if you work the last slip stitch on the round with the new colour. COLOURS: The baubles are worked with different colour combinations. COLOUR -1 = marzipan COLOUR -2 = sea green COLOUR -3 = coffee COLOUR -4 = cherry COLOUR -5 = moss green BAUBLE-1: Cast on + round 1: Colour-1. Round 2: Colour-2. Rounds 3 and 4: Colour-3. Round 6: Colour-1. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- CHRISTMAS BAUBLE – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The bauble is worked in the round, middle outwards, in 2 sections. The sections are then crocheted together, filling with wadding as you go. An edge is crocheted around the bauble to finish and a loop fastened to the top. SECTION-1: Read COLOURS in explanations above. Use crochet hook size 3 mm and cast-on colour in DROPS Safran. Work 4 chain stitches and form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Read CROCHET INFORMATION and COLOUR-CHANGE. Work diagram A.1 in the round or work as described below. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. ROUND 1: Work 12 treble crochets around the ring, change to next colour. ROUND 2: * Work 4 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER between the first 2 / the next 2 treble crochets from the previous round – read description above, 2 chain stitches *, work from *-* to end of round = 12 treble-crochet groups with 2 chain stitches between each one. Change to next colour. ROUND3: Work 1 slip stitch around the first chain-space, * 2 treble crochets around the same chain-space, the work 2 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER – read description above, by working the first treble crochet around the same chain-space and the next treble crochet around the next chain-space *, work from *-* a total of 12 times = 36 stitches. ROUND 4: * Work 1 half-treble crochet in each of the first/next 8 stitches, 2 half-treble crochets in the next stitch *, work from *-* a total of 4 times = 40 stitches. Cut and fasten the strand. SECTION-2: Work in the same way as section-1. ASSEMBLY: Remember COLOURS in the explanations above. Lay the 2 sections together, making sure the beginnings of the rounds on each bauble are above each other. Start at the beginning of the round and crochet the 2 sections together from the right side, by working A.2 in the round (= rounds 5 and 6 – remember to fill the bauble with wadding at the same time as working 5th round) or work as follows: ROUND 5: Work 1 double crochet in each stitch, working through the whole stitch-loop and through both layers, but leave a small opening at the end of the round, fill the bauble with wadding and crochet to the end of the round. Change to next colour. ROUND 6: * 3 chain stitches, 1 treble crochet in the first chain stitch worked, skip 1 double crochet from the previous round, work 1 slip stitch in the next stitch *, work from *-* to end of round. Cut and fasten the strands. LOOP: Cut a cord or left-over yarn strand of approx. 16 cm, thread the cord/strand through the first stitch on the round, tie a knot in the end. |
