Hi, I’m struggling with sleeve cap part. Can you explain how to do it? Pattern just says that I should work the sleeve cap back and forth there is no stitch count or something like that. Thanks in advance

Dear Mariam, you should have 51-53-55-59-61-65-67 stitches, as stated above. Then, you work back and forth, continue with the pattern as before, but back and forth, over all stitches, until the sleeve measures 49-49-49-49-48-48-48 cm. Happy knitting!

I'd like to make this in Drops Air but am struggling to work out how much yarn I would need and other changes I'd need to make. Can you advise me please? Thank you.
08.07.2023 - 20:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Liz, you will need approx. the same amount of grams of DROPS Air compared to DROPS Melody. For example, you need 150gr of the main Colour of DROPS Melody for the smallest size. That is 420m. 420/150m (per ball of Air) = 2.8 balls of Air. But since you will need to compensate for the gauge, we recommend an extra ball of Air for each colour. Remember to check the gauge and read the following lessons for more information: https://www.garnstudio.com/lesson.php?id=14&cid=19; https://www.garnstudio.com/lesson.php?id=25&cid=19. Happy knitting!

Hej!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked in the round, bottom up. The piece is divided for the armholes and the back and front pieces are finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, bottom up. The piece is sewn together and the neck worked to finish. BODY: Cast on 140-154-166-178-190-206-230 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and colour light blue DROPS Melody. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm. Change to circular needle size 6 mm. Knit 1 round and decrease 8-10-10-10-10-14-14 stitches evenly spaced = 132-144-156-168-180-192-216 stitches. Then work A.1, 11-12-13-14-15-16-18 times on the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 is finished work A.2 in the same way. When A.2 is finished work A.3. A.3 is then repeated in height to finished length. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 34-35-36-37-38-39-40 cm, work the armholes as follows: Cast off the first 3-4-6-7-8-9-13 stitches, knit 61-65-67-71-75-79-83 stitches in pattern, cast off 5-7-11-13-15-17-25 stitches, knit 61-65-67-71-75-79-83 stitches in pattern, cast off the last 2-3-5-6-7-8-12 stitches. Cut the strand. Each piece is finished separately. BACK PIECE: = 61-65-67-71-75-79-83 stitches. Continue the pattern until the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Cast off the middle 21-23-23-25-25-27-27 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 19-20-21-22-24-25-27 stitches on the shoulder. When the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm, cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 61-65-67-71-75-79-83 stitches. Continue the pattern until the piece measures 44-46-48-49-51-52-54 cm. Place the middle 11-13-13-13-13-15-15 stitches on a thread for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off on each row from the neck as follows: 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 times = 19-20-21-22-24-25-27 stitches on the shoulder. When the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm, cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 46-48-50-52-54-56-58 stitches with double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and colour light blue DROPS Melody. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 6 mm. Knit 1 round and decrease 5-5-5-5-5-7-7 stitches evenly spaced = 41-43-45-47-49-49-51 stitches. Insert a marker thread at the beginning of the round = mid-under the sleeve. In addition insert 1 marker in the middle stitch on the round. Count from the mid-stitch where the pattern should start and work A.1 (the mid-stitch should match the mid-stitch in the diagram – the pattern will not fit under the sleeve). Continue the pattern onwards in the same way as on the body. AT THE SAME TIME when the sleeve measures 32-31-30-28-27-26-23 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 3-3-3-2½-2½-2-2 cm a total of 5-5-5-6-6-8-8 times = 51-53-55-59-61-65-67 stitches. The increased stitches are worked into the pattern. When the sleeve measures 47-46-45-44-43-42-39 cm, work the sleeve cap back and forth (from mid-under the sleeve) until the sleeve measures 49-49-49-49-48-48-48 cm, (a split of approx. 2-3-4-5-5-6-9 cm). Cast off a little loosely. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeve cap to the armhole, then the split to the bottom of the armhole – see sketch. NECK: Using short circular needle size 4.5 mm and colour light blue, start at one shoulder seam and knit up 64-72-72-76-76-84-84 stitches around the neck (including the stitches from the thread). The number of stitches should be divisible by 2. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 10-10-11-11-12-12 cm. Cast off a little loosely. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
