Knitting tension: 20 sts x 32 rows on needle size 2.5 and stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Remember needles sizes are guidelines only! Pattern: See diagram. Stocking st the entire pattern. Garter st (back and forth): 1st row: K, 2nd row: K Front piece: Cast on 68-74-82 (88-94-100) sts (incl 1 edge st each side, knitted in garter sts throughout) on needle size 2.5 mm in red / dark green. Knit 4 rows garter st. Continue in stocking sts and pattern. Remember the knitting tension. At the same time, when piece measures 4 cm cast off 1 st each side inside the edge st: 9-9-9 (9-10-11) times on every 2 - 2- 2.5 (3 – 3 - 3) cm = 50-56-64 (70-74-78) sts. When piece measures 21-24-28 (32-34-38) cm cast off for armhole each side on every other row: 2 sts 2-2-2 (2-2-2) times and 1 st 1-1-2 (2-2-2) times = 40-46-52 (58-62-66) sts. When piece measures 28-32-37 (40-43-48) cm cast off the middle 6-8-8 (10-10-12) sts for the neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times = 11-13-16 (18-20-21) sts left on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures approx 32-36-41 (45-48-53) cm. Back piece: Cast on and knit like the front piece. Cast off for armhole as described for front piece and continue until the piece measures 28-32-37 (41-44-49) cm. Now divide the piece mid back for the split. Complete each side separately – knit the outer most st towards the split in garter sts. When piece measures 31-35-40 (44-47-52) cm cast off 8-9-9 (10-10-11) sts mid back and dec 1 st on neckline on next row = 11-13-16 (18-20-21) sts left on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 32-36-41 (45-48-53) cm. Sleeve: Cast on 32-34-36 (38-40-42) sts (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 2.5 mm in red / dark green. Knit 4 rows garter st. When piece measures 21-23-26 (29-34-36) cm cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 3 sts 0-1-1 (1-2-2) times, 2 sts 7-5-6 (6-5-4) times, 3 sts 0-1-1 (1-1-2) times. Cast off, the piece measures approx 25-27-31 (34-38-41) cm. Collar: Knit the collar – Collar-1 for each of the 3 smallest sizes, and Collar -2 for the 3 largest sizes. Knit 2 sts in both sts (= 4 sts on needle). 1st row: K3, YO, K1. 2nd row: K1, YO, K4. 3rd + 4th row: K. 5th row: K5, YO, K1. 6th row: K1, YO, K6. 7th row: garter st – but slip the last st off needle loosely. 8th row: Cast off 6 sts, K1 (= 2 sts on the needle after this row). 9th row: K2 into both sts (= 4 sts on row) 10th row: garter st. Repeat 1st to 10th row. Continue this collar pattern for approx 22 to 26 cm – measure the neck opening. The collar should lie loosely around the neck, cast off – adjust to after row 8. Repeat 1st to 14th row. Continue this collar pattern approx 27 to 30 cm – measure the neck opening. The collar should lie loosely around the neck, cast off – adjust to after row 12. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Gather approx 45-60 sts up around the neck on double pointed needles size 2.5 in red / dark green – from mid back – slip sts on a thread. Gather a similar number of sts up around the collar and slip these sts on a thread. Knit the collar by knitting 1 st from the collar tog with 1 st from the neck - start mid back. On the next row cast off all sts. Crochet with crochet hook size 3 mm and red, one row of double crochet around the back split – at the top of the right hand side split crochet a loop = 5 slip stitches, attach the loop with a double crochet. Sew the side seams and the sleeve seams within 1 edge st. Sew the sleeves on and the button on the back part of the split. |
