Hi! I would like to knit this pattern in a size medium. I have just 654 yards of super bulky yarn and thought I might just knit the entire piece in a shorter length. Can you advise me on how much shorter to adjust the pattern to allow for my amount of yarn? Thank you in advance of your support and guidance.

Dear Mrs Kiepura, we are unfortunately not able to adjust each pattern to every individual request. For any personnal assistance you are welcome to request help from the store where you bought your yarn. Happy knitting!

Hej Eva. Du strikker ret over alle pinde: * Sticka räta fram och tillbaka över de yttersta 12-12-13-14-14-15 m, sticka räta fram och tillbaka över alla m *.

Hello , i m from Greece and i 'm a little confused about ..." At the same time when piece measures 42-43-44-45-46-47 cm, inc 1 st from RS inside band as follows". It means that i ll inc 1 st before the band? where the stoching st finish and garter st begins? I woul' d like also to know if we can use an other way of inc istead of YO. thanks
24.11.2016 - 19:41DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Evangelatou, on right front piece you will inc from RS after the front band sts, ie as explained: Work 6 sts in garter st, inc 1 st, work the rest of row. You can increase as you rather like (see different inc techniques here). Happy knitting!

It's me, again. Sorry. I have 2 questions. Does outermost mean near the shoulder or down the front? And, I watched the short row video, but it only did 1 short row. Don't I need to go back and for until the shorter edge measures 10cm? If I don't pick up a stitch where the short row meets the regular row, it leaves a hole. What am I doing wrong? I really appreciate your help!!
11.11.2016 - 17:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Campbell, on right front piece, you work short rows over the first 12-15 sts from RS, ie the sts towards front (= bef of row from RS on right front piece). To avoid holes when working the short rows, lift the first st after turning and tighten thread (see video) - you can also use the wrap&turn method if you rather like (see video). Happy knitting!

Thanks for your explanation for my last question. Where in the pattern does it tell me to do short rows? I know/understand how to knit short rows. Usually a pattern will say 'wrap & turn'.
05.11.2016 - 16:25DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Campbell, when you read under Right front piece: hen work collar as follows (1st row = RS): * K back and forth over the outermost 12-12-13-14-14-15 sts, K back and forth over all sts *. Repeat from *-* until collar measures 9-9-9-10-10-11 cm measured on the shorter side where shoulder was cast off, you are here working short row - see video below. You can also work them with wrap & turn if you rather. Happy knitting!

On right front, does the garter stitch section get wider as it goes up and around the neck? Thanks!!
02.11.2016 - 17:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Campbell, section in garter st is getting wider for collar but then when you are working collar it self with short rows, keep same number of sts, the sts towards mid front will getting higher than the sts towards shoulder, this shorter side will be sewn then tog along neckline on back piece. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st by making 1 YO. On next row work YO twisted (i.e. work in the back loop of YO instead of front) to avoid holes. BUTTON HOLES: Dec for 2 button holes on right front piece. 1 button hole = cast off 4th and 5th st from edge. On next row cast on 2 new sts over the cast off sts. Cast off for button holes when piece measures: SIZE S: 31 and 41 cm SIZE M: 32 and 42 cm SIZE L: 33 and 43 cm SIZE XL: 34 and 44 cm SIZE XXL: 35 and 45 cm SIZE XXXL: 36 and 46 cm -------------------------------------------------------- BACK PIECE: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 62-66-70-75-81-87 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) on circular needle size 7 mm with Puddel. Work 6 rows in garter st - See explanation above. Then work in stocking st with 1 edge st in garter st in each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 20 cm, dec 1 st in each side, repeat dec every 4½-4½-5-5-5-5 cm a total of 8 times = 46-50-54-59-65-71 sts. When piece measures 62 cm (all sizes) cast on new sts for sleeves, cast on at the end of every row each side: 10 sts 2 times, 11-10-9-8-6-4 sts 1 time = 108-110-112-115-117-119 sts. Continue over all sts until piece measures 80-81-82-83-84-85 cm. Now cast off the middle 12-12-12-13-13-15 sts for neck and finish each side separately = 48-49-50-51-52-52 sts remain for sleeve and shoulder. Continue to work until piece measures 82-83-84-85-86-87 cm. Loosely cast off. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 37-39-41-44-47-50 sts (incl 6 band sts and 1 edge st) on circular needle size 7 mm. Work 6 rows in garter st. Then work in stocking st with 1 edge st in garter st in the side but continue the 6 sts towards mid front (= band sts) in garter st. When piece measures 20 cm, beg dec in the side as on back piece. Remember to cast off for BUTTON HOLES - see explanation above. At the same time when piece measures 42-43-44-45-46-47 cm, inc 1 st from RS inside band as follows: Work 6 sts in garter st, inc 1 st - see INCREASE TIP above, work the rest of row. NOTE: Work the inc sts in garter st. Repeat inc inside sts in garter st on band every 4½ cm a total of 9 times. When piece measures 62 cm (all sizes) cast on new sts for sleeve, cast on at the end of every row towards the side: 10 sts 2 times, 11-10-9-8-6-4 sts 1 time = 69-70-71-73-74-75 sts. Continue to work until piece measures 82-83-84-85-86-87 cm. On next row from WS, loosely cast off until 21-21-21-22-22-23 sts remain for collar, work the rest of row. Then work collar as follows (1st row = RS): * K back and forth over the outermost 12-12-13-14-14-15 sts, K back and forth over all sts *. Repeat from *-* until collar measures 9-9-9-10-10-11 cm measured on the shorter side where shoulder was cast off. Loosely cast off all sts. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Work as right front piece but reversed and without button holes. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulders and upper sleeve seams tog inside 1 edge st. Sew collar tog mid back and sew the neck on back piece. Sew the buttons on to the left front band. EDGE AROUND SLEEVES: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Knit up from RS 44-44-50-50-56-56 sts inside 1 edge st at the bottom of sleeve. Work in garter st for approx. 10 cm. The sleeve measures approx. 63-64-65-67-68-69 cm, measured from mid back. Loosely cast off all sts. Repeat on the edge of the other sleeve. ASSEMBLY: Sew sleeve and side seams in one inside 1 edge st. |
