I don’t want to use 2 strands of yarn together and both these yarns are discontinued anyway. Which yarn group can I use in order to complete this pattern using one strand of yarn please?

Hi Sally, You can choose any yarn from group C and work with 1 strand instead of the 2 strands in the pattern (both the discontinued yarns are from group A ; A + A = C. Happy crafting!

Hi Barbara! You are correct. Knitting tension should be 12 x 17 sts. I have corrected it in the pattern. Sorry about that mistake. Best Wishes Birgitte Scandinavian Knitting Design

Are you sure the Gauge is correct? Silke-Tweed by itself on smaller needles yields 23 sts per 10 cm.

There is nothing wrong here, but there is something that you unfortunately did misunderstand. For size Medium you follow the 2nd number in each section of numbers. This means you should inc in each side of your work: 13 sts 1 time, 13 sts 1 more time, 14 sts 1 time = 156 sts. You inc a total of 40 sts in each side which adds 80 sts to the 76 you started out with.

The arms looked short, and that was adding 20 increases for each side, where it said to add 13 or 14 stitches. The pattern was suppost to have 156 stitches across, but if I only added what the pattern said, I would have only 132 stitches. I ended up tearing out the whole prodject because I could not fig it out with the instructions I followed. It did not look right. I also tried it out with the recommended number of stitches.

Knitting Gauge: 12 sts x 17 rows on needles size 8 mm with 1 thread of silke-tweed and 1 thread of Vivaldi in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. The Cardigan is knitted in one piece, back and forth on circular needles. Loosely cast on 72-76-81-87-93 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side – all seam sts are knitted in garter st throughout) on needles size 8 mm with 1 thread of Silke-Tweed and 1 thread of Vivaldi. Knit 2 rows garter sts and continue in stocking sts with a seam st each side. When the piece measures 12-13-14-15-16 cm cast on new sts each side for sleeves on every other row (i.e. at the end of each row) as follows: 13-13-13-9-8 sts 1 time, 14-13-13-9-8 sts 1 time, 14-14-13-9-9 sts 1 time and 0-0-0-10-10 sts 1 time = 154-156-159-161-163 sts. Continue until the piece measures 26-28-30-32-34 cm and then insert a marking thread each side, you are now half way – NB: It is important to keep to the measurements, because of the width of the sleeves - they should be a little tight. Continue in stocking sts until the piece measures 11-12-13-12-13 cm from the marking thread (total measures = 37-40-43-44-47 cm). Now bind off each side on every other row (at the beginning of each row) as follows: 0-0-0-10-10 sts 1 time, 14-14-13-9-9 sts 1 time, 14-13-14-9-8 sts 1 time and 13-13-13-9-8 sts 1 time = 72-76-81-87-93 sts. Continue until the piece measures 51-55-59-63-67 cm – make sure the next row is from the wrong side - knit 2 rows of garter sts and bind off loosely. Assembly: Fold the piece in half at the marking threads and sew the side and the sleeve seams together inside of the seam sts. Crochet edge: Crochet a wide edge around the bottom of the sleeves and all around the opening of the Bolero. Using crochet hook size 7 and Cotton Viscose + 1 thread of Silke tweed (start at the centre back and at the seam on the sleeves) crochet as follows: 1st round: 1 dc in the 1st st *4 ch, 1 tr in the 1st of the 4 ch’s, skip 2–2.5 cm, 1 dc in the next st*, repeat from *-* and finish with a sl st in the 1st dc from beginning of round. 2nd round: 3ch and crochet as follow in the top of all the ch-loops: *1 tr, 1 ch, 1 tr and 1 ch (= 1st tr group), go to the next ch-loop*, repeat from *-* and finish teh round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 3rd round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st tr group, 3 ch, 1 tr around the same ch, 1 ch, 2tr around the same ch, 1 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the tr groups as follows: *2 tr, 1 ch, 2 tr and 1 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish thr round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 4th round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st tr group, 3 ch, 1 tr around the same ch, 1 ch, 2 tr around the same ch, 2 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the tr groups as follows: *2 tr, 1 ch, 2 tr and 2 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 5th round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st tr group, 3 ch, 1 tr around the same ch, 1 ch, 2 tr around the same ch, 3 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the tr groups as follows: *2 tr, 1 ch, 2 tr and 3 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 6th round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st tr group, 3 ch, 1 tr around the same ch, 1 ch, 2 tr around the same ch, 4 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the tr groups as follows: *2 tr, 1 ch, 2 tr and 4 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. |
