------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE A (in the round): 1 ridge in height = purl 1 round and knit 1 round. RIDGE B (in the round): 1 ridge in height = knit 1 round and purl 1 round. INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase/decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 144 stitches) and divide by the number of increases/decreases to be made (e.g. 20) = 7.2. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 7th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. When decreasing, knit together approx. each 6th and 7th stitch. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. PATTERN-REPEAT: See diagrams A.1 to A.2 – work the next 55 stitches as follows: A.1, A.2, A.1, A.2, A.1, A.2, A.1. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- CUSHION-COVER– SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, bottom up and sewn together top and bottom. There are cables and Fisherman’s rib on the whole cover. COVER: Cast on 144 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and Air. Work 2 RIDGES A – read description above. Then knit 1 round AT THE SAME TIME as you decrease 20 stitches evenly spaced - read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (= 124 stitches). Continue as follows: Work 55 stitches in PATTERN-REPEAT – read description above, A.3 (= 7 stitches), 55 stitches in pattern-repeat and A.3 (= 7 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue like this until the piece measures 38 cm. Then knit 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME as you increase 20 stitches evenly spaced - remember INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (= 144 stitches). Work 2 RIDGES B – read description above, and loosely cast off. ASSEMBLY: Lay the piece flat, with the pattern-repeats mid-front and mid-back. Sew the cast-on edges together in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch, insert the inner cushion and sew the cast-off edges together in the same way. |
