How do you knit the heel in Drops 122-27 Celtic red? What do they mean by “twist” piece in order to have 1 cable mid back?
24.10.2024 - 02:03DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Carr, just rearrange the stitches on needle so that you sill have the 4 sts for 1 cable on mid back on heel and P 9-10-11 (see size) on each side of this cable = 30-32-34 sts for heel. Happy knitting!

How much does it mess things up if i start with the 3mms? i cannot find my 2s for the life of me
25.07.2024 - 03:19DROPS Design answered:
Hi Jasper, as a matter of fact you should start your sock with 3 mm needles. After ribbing you have to change it for 3,5 mm. Happy knitting!

Hei Kristine, da er fellingene under foten. God fornøyelse!

Liebes Drops Team.

Se f.eks. her

PATTERN: See diagrams M.1, M.2 and M.3 - diagrams show 1 pattern repeat. HEEL DECREASES: Row 1 (= RS): P sts on row until 6-6-7 sts remain, P2 tog, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): K sts on row until 6-6-7 sts remain, K2 tog into back of loop, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): P sts on row until 5-5-6 sts remain, P2 tog, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): K sts on row until 5-5-6 sts remain, K2 tog into back of loop, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 10-12-12 sts on needle. -------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS: Worked in the round. Cast on 104 sts for all sizes on double pointed needles size 3 mm / US 2or3 with Karisma. K 1 round, then work M.1 for 6 cm / 2⅜", and continue with the first 10 rounds of M.2. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 and complete M.2. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! After M.2 there are 72 sts on needle and piece measures approx 24 cm / 9½". Continue with M.3 – AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 26-27-28 cm / 10¼"-10⅝"-11" dec 1 st in each P-section (= 4 dec), repeat the dec on every 3-4-5 cm / 1⅛"-1½"-2" a total of 5-4-3 times (dec at the beg and the end of P-section alternately) = 52-56-60 sts. When piece measures 39-40-42 cm / 15¼"-15¾"-16½" "twist" piece in order to have 1 cable mid back - keep the 4 sts over cable mid back and 9-10-11 sts each side of these on needle for heel. Slip the remaining 30-32-34 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot). Continue in pattern as before on the 22-24-26 heel sts for 5-5.5-6 cm / 2"-2¼"-2⅜". On next row from RS K2 tog on the 4 sts over cable = 20-22-24 heel sts. Now complete heel in reverse stockinette st. Work 1 row - insert a marker – then work HEEL DECREASES – see above. After heel dec pick up 11-12-13 sts each side of heel and slip the 30-32-34 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 62-68-72 sts. Insert a marker each side of the 30-32-34 sts on upper foot. Continue in pattern as before on these sts and P the remaining sts - AT THE SAME TIME dec each side as follows: P tog the last 2 sts BEFORE first marker and P tog the first 2 sts AFTER last marker on upper foot. Repeat the dec on every other round a total of 6-7-7 times = 50-54-58 sts. Continue as before until piece measures 18-20-22 cm / 7"-8"-8¾" from marker on heel (= approx 4-4-5 cm / 1½"-1½"-2" remain). Work 1 round, at the same time K2 tog on the 4 K sts on each cable = 44-48-52 sts. Insert a marker each side with 22-24-26 sts on upper foot and under foot. Continue P all sts AT THE SAME TIME dec for toes each side of both markers as follows: Work round until 3 sts before marker, P2 tog, P2 (marker sits mid between these 2 sts), P2 into back of loop. Repeat the dec on every other round a total of 4-4-6 times and then on every round 5-5-4 times = 8-12-12 sts left on needle. Cut the thread, pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
