I am having difficulty interpreting the pattern from diagram A-2. E.g. row 6 appears to start (from rs) P6 and then the following pattern - 1YO between 2 sts, P2 twisted tog, P2 tog, 1 YO bet 2 sts. The chart appears to show the pattern is worked over 3 sts but I can only do it over 4 sts. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong please?
19.01.2018 - 16:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Wilson, row 6 should be a WS row (as all even numbered rows). Start reading diagram from the bottom corner on the right side and read RS rows from the right towards the left and WS rows from the left towards the right. Happy knitting!

I am confused by the "1st row = WS" before starting diagrams A-4 and A-5. The charts all start from the RS, correct? If that is the case, then do I knit an extra WS row and then start on the RS of the chart? Or does that mean that the first row of the chart is a WS row? Thanks.
04.02.2016 - 14:45DROPS Design answered:
Dear Christine, at the very beg of back piece you start working A.1 from WS, ie 1st row in A.1 is worked from WS (then 2nd row in A.1 is worked from RS, and so on so that 4th (dec) and 6th (eyelet) rows are worked also from RS. Happy knitting!

Then cast off the outermost 3-4-4-5-5-6 sts in each side (cast off at beg of the next 2 rows) = 65-69-79-83-93-97 sts remain on needle. READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! PATTERN: Continue with A-3 on the middle, work in stocking st in each side and work the outermost 3 sts towards armholes in garter st. ARMHOLES (inc in the 2 smallest size so that the shoulder is not too narrow, dec in the other sizes so that the shoulder is not too broad): SIZE S: At the same time 2 cm after armholes where cast off, inc 1 st in each side on next row from RS, by making 1 YO inside the 3 sts in garter st in each side. On next row P YO twisted to avoid holes. Repeat inc every 4th row 2 more times = 71 sts. SIZE M: At the same time 3 cm after armholes where cast off, inc 1 st in each side on next row from RS, by making 1 YO inside the 3 sts in garter st in each side. Continue to work until piece measures 62-64-66-68-70-72 cm in the side. On next row, cast off the middle 19-19-19-21-21-21 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off 1 more st on next row from neck = 25-26-28-29-31-33 sts remain on the shoulder. Cast off the remaining sts when piece measures 64-66-68-70-72-74 cm. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Cast on 37-37-47-47-57-57 sts (incl 1 edge st in the side) on needle size 5 mm with 1 thread Alpaca and 1 thread Kid-Silk. Work as follows (1st row = WS): 1 edge st in garter st, diagram A-4 over 35-35-45-45-55-55 sts, and 1 st in garter st. After A-4 there are 29-29-37-37-45-45 sts on needle. Continue in stocking st over all sts but work 1 st in each side in garter st. READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! ARMHOLE: When piece measures 44-45-46-47-48-49 cm, work 4 rows in garter st over the 6-7-7-8-8-9 sts in the side (work the other sts as before). On next row beg in the side, cast off the first 3-4-4-5-5-6 sts. Continue with 3 sts in garter st towards armhole and the other sts as before. ARMHOLE: At the same time dec/inc for armhole in the side as on back piece. After all inc and dec, there are 25-26-28-29-31-33 sts on needle. Cast off when piece measures 64-66-68-70-72-74 cm. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Work as right front piece but reversed. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams and side seams. BAND/COLLAR: To make room for all the sts work edge back and forth on a circular needle size 4 mm. Knit up with 1 thread Alpaca and 1 thread Kid-Silk, approx. 270 to 300 sts up along right band, around the neck and down along left band (i.e. approx. 19 sts on 10 cm). K 1 row from WS while at the same time inc no of sts evenly to 303-310-317-324-331-338. Continue as follows (from RS): 3 sts in garter st, * K 3, P 4 *, repeat from *-* until 6 sts remain, K 3 and 3 sts in garter st. When edge measures 8 cm, inc all 4 P sts to 5 P sts (inc from RS by working 2 sts in the first P st in each P-section) = 345-353-361-369-377-385 sts. When edge measures 11-11-12-12-13-13 cm, continue to work as follows (1st row = WS). 3 sts in garter st, * A-5, K 5 (P from RS) *, repeat from *-*, finish with A-5 and 3 sts in garter st. When A-5 has been worked, cast off from RS with K over K and P over P. Edge measures approx. 17-17-18-18-19-19 cm in total. |
