------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: INCREASE ONE STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous round, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the back loop. INCREASE ONE STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous round, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the front loop. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches) slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the mid-back. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 106-110-116-120-126-132-138 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and DROPS Puna. Change to circular needle size 3 mm and knit 3 rounds. Work 3 rounds of rib (knit 1, purl 1). Work 2 cm of stocking stitch. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (mid-back), the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Insert 4 markers to be used for the saddle shoulders. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and work as follows: Knit 15-16-17-18-20-21-23 (= approx. half the back piece), insert marker-1, knit 24 (= shoulder-stitches) insert marker-2. knit 29-31-34-36-39-42-45 (= front piece), insert marker-3. knit 24 (= shoulder-stitches) insert marker-4. knit the last 14-15-16-17-19-20-22 stitches (= approx. half the back piece). SADDLE SHOULDER INCREASES: ROUND 1: Knit and increase 4 stitches on the round as follows: Increase 1 stitch towards the right BEFORE markers 1 and 3 and increase 1 stitch towards the left AFTER markers 2 and 4 – read INCREASE TIP. You only increase on the front and back pieces. The number of shoulder-stitches remains the same. ROUND 2: Repeat ROUND 1 (= 4 increased stitches). ROUND 3: Knit without increasing. Work ROUNDS 1 to 3 a total of 11 times in all sizes (88 increased stitches) = 194-198-204-208-214-220-226 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. The piece measures approx. 12 cm from the marker mid-back. There are 24 stitches on each shoulder and 73-75-78-80-83-86-89 stitches on the front and back pieces. SLEEVE INCREASES: Knit and increase 4 stitches on the round as follows: Increase 1 stitch towards the left AFTER markers 1 and 3 and 1 stitch towards the right BEFORE markers 2 and 4 – remember INCREASE TIP. You only increase on the sleeves. The stitch count on the front and back pieces remains the same. Increase like this every 2nd round a total of 10-11-13-11-10-8-8 times = 234-242-256-252-254-252-258 stitches. YOKE INCREASES: Knit and increase 8 stitches on the round, increasing before and after all 4 markers as follows: * Knit until there are 2 stitches left before the first marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 2, move the marker onto the right needle, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to the next marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, knit 2, increase 1 stitch towards the left *, repeat from *-* one more time (= 8 increased stitches), knit to end of round. Increase like this every 2nd round a total of 12-14-15-19-21-25-27 times = 330-354-376-404-422-452-474 stitches. The piece measures approx. 22-24-26-27-28-30-31 cm from outermost on the shoulder (= 6 cm shoulder-depth and 16-18-20-21-22-24-25 cm sleeve-increases). Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Knit 49-52-54-59-63-68-72 stitches (= approx. half the back piece), place the next 68-74-80-84-86-90-94 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 4-6-8-8-10-10-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 97-103-108-118-125-136-143, place the next 68-74-80-84-86-90-94 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 4-6-8-8-10-10-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 48-51-54-59-62-68-71 stitches. The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 202-218-232-252-270-292-310 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 4-6-8-8-10-10-12 cast-on stitches under one sleeve. Knit to the marker. The round now starts here. Work stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 49-51-53-55-57-59-61 cm from the marker mid-back. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 40-46-46-52-54-62-64 stitches evenly on the first round = 242-264-278-304-324-354-374 stitches. When the rib measures 4 cm, cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 53-55-57-59-61-63-65 cm from the marker mid-back. SLEEVES: Place the 68-74-80-84-86-90-94 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder on circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 4-6-8-8-10-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 72-80-88-92-96-100-106 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 4-6-8-8-10-10-12 stitches under the sleeve- the round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 2nd round 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 times, then decrease 2 stitches every 6½-4½-2½-2-2-1½-1½ cm a total of 4-6-9-10-10-11-14 times = 60-64-66-68-70-72-72 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 30-29-27-27-26-24-24 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 20 stitches evenly on the first round = 80-84-86-88-90-92-92 stitches. When the rib measures 10 cm, cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 40-39-37-37-36-34-34 from the division. |
