DROPS 235-5 |

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting tension losing its elasticity when working pattern it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a size larger needle when working pattern if the piece becomes tight. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle before piece is divide for vents. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle / double pointed needles. NECK: Cast on 84-88-92-96-100-104 stitches with short circular needle size 3.5 mm and colour beige DROPS Air. Knit 1 round then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 8 cm. Change to short circular needle size 5 mm. YOKE: Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (mid-back); the yoke is measured from this marker! Knit 1 round and increase 11-17-23-29-35-36 stitches evenly spaced = 95-105-115-125-135-140 stitches. Now work according to diagram A.1. Read KNITTING TIP and REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been completed in height there are 228-252-276-300-324-336 stitches. Knit 1 round with colour medium grey and adjust the number of stitches to 232-256-272-304-324-344 stitches. Continue with colour medium grey and stocking stitch until the yoke measures 22-22-23-25-27-29 cm from the marker. Now divide for the body and sleeves: Knit 34-38-40-44-49-53 (half back piece), place the next 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit 68-76-80-88-98-106 (front piece), place the next 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit the remaining 34-38-40-44-49-53 stitches (half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately and both are measured from here! BODY: = 148-164-176-192-216-236 stitches. Continue in the round with stocking stitch and colour medium grey for a further 23-25-25-25-25-25 cm (or to desired length; there is 8 cm left to finished length). Knit 1 round and increase 14-18-18-18-22-22 stitches evenly spaced = 162-182-194-210-238-258 stitches. Divide the piece each side with 81-91-97-105-119-129 stitches on both the back and front piece. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Finish each piece separately. FRONT PIECE: Work rib back and forth starting from the right side as follows: 1 stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, work rib (knit 1, purl 1) until there are 2 stitches left, knit 1 and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib back and forth for 8 cm. Cast off. The jumper measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm from the shoulder down. BACK PIECE: Work in the same way as the front piece. SLEEVES: Place the 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 54-58-64-72-74-78 stitches. Insert a marker in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve. Allow the marker to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start at the marker and work in the round, with stocking stitch and colour medium grey for 3 cm. Now decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 8-6-4-3-2½-2½ cm a total of 4-5-7-10-10-10 times = 46-48-50-52-54-58 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 34-34-33-33-31-30 cm from the division. Knit 1 round and increase 6-4-6-4-6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 52-52-56-56-60-64 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 8 cm. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 42-42-41-41-40-38 cm. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
