It’s time to crochet the last square design for our mystery blanket and we’ll be making 14 this time!
Once you are done with these, you will have finished crocheting all the squares for the blanket!
Already a CAL pro? Skip the pictures and go straight to the diagram (or video) at the bottom of the clue!
We are working 4 rounds of square A.7 with the following colours:
CAST ON + ROUND 1: 05 light wash
ROUNDS 2-3: 06 light jeans blue
ROUND 4: 01 white
CAST ON:
Work 4 chain stitches with light wash, form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch.
ROUND 1:
Work 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first double crochet).
Work * 1 chain stitch, 1 double crochet around the chain-stitch ring *, repeat *-* 11 times in total, 1 chain stitch = 12 double crochets around the chain-stitch ring.
Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to light jeans blue, read COLOUR CHANGE TIP below. Cut the light wash strand.
COLOUR CHANGE TIP:
To get a neat transition when changing colours, work the last stitch before the colour change with the new colour.
ROUND 2:
Work 1 chain stitch, read CROCHET INFO below.
CROCHET INFO:
The round starts with 1 chain stitch before the first single crochet (this chain stitch does not replace the first single crochet).
Work 2 single crochets around every chain stitch from the previous round = 24 single crochets.
Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet at the beginning of the round.
ROUND 3:
Work 3 chain stitches (equivalent to 1 double crochet).
Work * 5 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch *, repeat *-* 3 times in total.
Finish the round with 5 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to white. Cut the light jeans blue strand.
ROUND 4:
Work 1 chain stitch, read CROCHET INFO above.
Work * 1 single crochet in the 3rd chain stitch/next double crochet from the previous round, 3 single crochets around the 5-chain-space, 2 chain stitches, 3 single crochets around the same 5-chain-space, 1 single crochet in the next double crochet, 4 single crochets around the 2-chain-space *, repeat *-* 4 times in total.
Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Cut and fasten the strands!
We have now finished one of square A.7, which should be 8 x 8 cm.
Work a total of 14 of this square in the same colour combination as seen below:

I did the last drops-along and found the result to be on the small side. This time I have duplicated all clues. Worst case if it doesn't works out to put it together into one blanket I just make two of them. Or I put it together in a different way that works for me. Makes it a bit more of a challenge but if you are thinking about adding more squares I think you like the challenge :-) Good luck to everyone!
