Cut out 2 circular cardboard pieces with the desired diameter. Cut a big hole in the middle. Place the 2 pieces against each other and wind the yarn round. The more yarn, the denser the pompon. Cut the threads between the 2 pieces, be careful not to pull out the threads! Use a thread to tighten round the middle of the threads between the 2 pieces. Pull tight and tie hard. If the pompon is a little uneven, adjust the lengths of the yarn ends.

Leg een draad van ongeveer 20 cm tussen zijn middelvinger en ringvinger. Wind dan een draad van 5 à 6 m rond de vingers van de hand (zonder duim). Dan neem je de kleine draad vast en knoop die zo strak mogelijk rond de omwikkelende draad. Haal de vingers er voorzichtig uit. Knip dan de draden langs weerszijden door en maak de pompon mooi rond.

You can make pom pom in many different sizes. In this DROPS video we have made a large and medium compact (blue), a small and compact(green) and big and fluffy pompom (pink). The yarn inside a yarn ball may be curly. In this DROPS video we show a simple way to correct / smooth out the yarn. Make the tassel and put it in water and then squeeze the water out. Shake then very hard (much harder than we show in the video). When dry and after the tassels are much more smoothed out. Give the tassel one last cut. One can attach a pompom in different ways. Here we show how we attach first on the right side and then on the wrong side of a hat. Make sure the thread is tied tight around the center of the pompom. If the thread is tied too loose the strands in the pompom will easily slip out.
